Raymond Albert “Ray” Koteski, 81, of Powell, died Jan. 1 at St. Mary’s. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He retired in 1984 after 39 years service in various departments of the Operations Division at the Union Carbide K-25 plant in Oak Ridge. The youngest of eight children, Ray earned academic and athletic honors and played basketball for the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest where he graduated with a degree in chemistry. With his friend Dick Beaver, he co-chaired the annual fall festival and helped coach the basketball teams at St. Joseph School. preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Holden Koteski.
