Duncan Campbell Earl, 80, of Blaine, passed away Feb. 3. Retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army and combat veteran of WWII. James Robert Eddy, 88, passed away Feb. 2. He served for 30 years in the U.S. military including time in the South Pacific during WWII. His military career was cut short at age 48 due to a massive stroke. He spent much of his life defending and advancing the rights of disabled veterans, including passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Dr. Frances K. Patterson, 67, died Jan. 26. She graduated magna cum laude from the Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania (later known as Temple University). For the past 36 years, she served as a pathologist at the UT Memorial Hospital and on the faculty of the residency program. She was instrumental in the founding of the Nuclear Medicine Department, the Nuclear Medicine Training Program and in the accreditation of the Pathology Residency Program.
