George Wilson Archer, 55, passed away Dec. 25. He was president of Furrow Auction Company for 25 years and enjoyed his close relationship with partner and business associate Sam Furrow. He was currently serving as a commissioner of the Knoxville Utilities Board and a member of the Audit Committee at St. Mary’s Hospital, as well the Boards of the Salvation Army, and the Doris A. Walker Academy. In addition he was a University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associate in 1992, and served on the Boards of Knoxville Fair Housing and the Kidney Foundation. James B. “Jim” Cantrell, 75, died Dec. 31. Operated Cantrell Appliance Co. and in recent years partnered with his son Randy to own and operate Cantrell’s Heat & Air. He was past president of the Northwest Optimist Club, past member of the Fountain City Lions Club, longtime member of BNI (Business Network International) different chapters. Veteran of U.S. Navy. Accomplished artist who had a one man show at the Candy Factory in the late ’90s. He was preceded in death by his son, David.
