Survived by wife, Mary Lamb; daughters, Vera Jones, Lindsey, Angel, Lisa and Megan Lamb; sons, Lelan “Pockets” Lamb, Tony and Ronald Lamb; Bill and Sharon Fleck, Michelle Fleck, Tracy and Kanchan Phelps, and their families; sisters, Vesta Norman and Faye Anderson; brother, Clendon Lamb. Kristie Dukes Newman, 35, of Halls, passed away Dec. 30. Member of Salem Baptist Church; graduate of Halls High School Class of ’87 and UT School of Radiology. The Rev. Earl T. Oaks, 77, of Luttrell, formerly of Halls, passed away Dec. 26. Member of Home Faith Baptist Church. Survived by Pauline Oaks; sons, Jackie, Gene Oaks, and their families; sister, Erma Lee Winterburg. Mynatt Funeral Home.

Ray V. Phillips, 60, died Dec. 25. Member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post # 126 and the Elks Lodge. Survived by wife, Jan H. Cassie Ellen Beason Rhodes, 82, passed away Dec. 29. Member of Cannon Creek Primitive Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, John E. Rhodes. John Edward “Jack” Wake Jr., 68, passed away Dec. 23. Member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and an elder at the Halls Kingdom Hall. Employed with Bell South for 39 years and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. preceded in death by son, John Edward “Johnny” Wake III. Survived by wife of 45 years, Patsy J. Charles Edward Walston, 82, passed away Dec. 31. U.S. Navy veteran, he retired in 1990 as press superintendent of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden and Holston Hills Golf Club. He worked with Dr. George Wagner and others to start the Senior Computer Program and taught classes for five years at the O’Connor Center.
