Naye Williams
MILAN-Naye F. Williams, 78, retired switchman for Grand Trunk Western Railroad, died Monday at Humboldt General Hospital. Services were Thursday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Double Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Williams, the husband of Nora Williams, also leaves a daughter, Linda Gustafson of Milan; two sons, Donald Williams of Mesa, Ariz. and Mike Williams of Milan; four sisters, Alice Bell and Juanita Johnson, both of Alamo, Polly Adams of Milan and Faye Defratus of Oakland, Calif., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ricky Timms
HUMBOLDT-Ricky Timms, 49, employee of Heglar Plumbing & Electric, died Sunday at Humboldt General Hospital. Services were Wednesday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs Cemetery. He was an Army veteran. He leaves a daughter, Tonya Dawn Clickenger, and a son, Charles Eric Timms, both of Gallipolis, Ohio; his parents, Clara and Charlie Timms of Gibson; three sisters, Pat Malone of Franklin, and Joan  Taylor and Tina Lynn, both of Gibson, and three grandchildren.

George Horn
George W. Horn passed away December 21, 2002 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Melissa Martin and husband Roger; two grandchildren, Marybeth Martin Jordon and Christopher Martin; a brother, R.C. Horn of Lewisburg. Born in Milan on April 9, 1920, he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He survived the sinking of the SS Peter Silvester by a German U-Boat in the Indian Ocean by spending seven days on a life raft before being rescued by the Corpus Christi. He was a 25 year employee of Johns Manville Corp. Burial and a graveside service will be held at a later date in Milan.

Rev. Franklin Wood
MILAN-Rev. Franklin Wood, 90, retired minister, died Sunday at Milan General Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. He was the founder of Temple Baptist Church, where he preached for 19 years. Mr. Wood, the husband of Allene Wood, also leaves three sons, James Franklin Wood and wife Neva of Rockwall, TX, Robert Dale Wood and wife Elaine of Montgomery, AL and David Lee Wood and wife Tammy of Cordova; a brother, Robert C. Wood of Dothan, AL; a sister, Daisy Polk of Cookeville, 5 grandchildren, Robert Darran Wood and wife Christine, Shana Leigh Beck, Anissa Lynn Burton & husband Charles, Elizabeth Leigh Wood, Connor James Wood and 6 great-grandchildren, Curtis Edward Beck III, Nelson Dale Burton, Audrey Le’ Burton, Robert Dalton Wood, Hunter Neal Burton, Elizabeth Yuriko Wood. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Jean Woodand a grandson, David Lamar Wood. Pallbearers will be grandsons & friends, Robert Wood, L.Cpl. Charles Burton, U.S.M.C.R., Daryl Evans, Bob Manner Jr., Eddie Harris, David Keymon and honorary pallbearer Connor James Wood.

Margaret York
JACKSON-Margaret Mary ‘Miki’ York, 51, certified medical assistant, died Saturday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mass was said Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was a communicant, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home North had charge. She was the co-chair of the 2002 Arthritis Foundation Walk, coordinated Jackson-Madison County Hospital’s annual General Medicine Conference and was a member of the American College of Rheumatology Health Care Professionals. She leaves a brother, William Patrick York of Milan. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Arthritis Foundation.

Henry Moss
HUNTINGDON-Henry David Moss, 74, retired painter, died Sunday at Life Care Center. Services were Tuesday at Chase Funeral Home with burial in Hampton Cemetery. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Mr. Moss, the husband of Lillie Mae Moss, also leaves three daughters, Tammy Gibson of Atwood, and Carolyn Gilley and Judy M. Sanford, both of Huntingdon; two sons, David W. Moss of  Jackson and Paul Moss of Huntingdon; two brothers, Joe T. Moss of Humboldt and William H. Moss of Bradford, and nine grandchildren.

Helen Jones
MILAN-Funeral services for Helen Thomas Jones, 77, were Saturday at Mt. Pleasant CME Church, with burial in Cloverdale Cemetery. Mrs.  Jones died Tuesday at  Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She is survived by a daughter, Lucille Hobson of  Jackson and several grandchildren. Mercer Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.

Charlie Seiber
PARIS-Charlie B. Seiber, 80, mechanic, died Saturday in Huntingdon. Services were Wednesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home with burial in Sandy Point Cemetery in Camden. Mr. Seiber, the husband of Joan Seiber, also leaves seven daughters, Charlotte Ferguson of Milan, Katherine Karmolinski of Indiana, and Peggy Hulsart, Carolyn Doerflein, Patsy Wolfe, Joann Seiber and Elizabeth Swedrock, all of Illinois; three sons, Charles Seiber, David Seiber and Larry Seiber, all of Illinois; three sisters, Annie Lowe of Camden, Ollie Lorine Clay of Jackson, Ky., and Emma Smith of Columbia, S.C., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

MEDINA-Jimmy Glenn Chamberlain, 40, truck driver, died Wednesday at Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington. Services were Saturday at Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home with burial in Hopewell Cemetery. He was a member of Baker’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Chamberlain, the commonlaw husband of Betty Louise Snider, also leaves three stepsons, James Snider of Henning, and Timothy Snider and Rocky Snider, both of Medina.

Alvin Foren
BRADFORD-Alvin Wade Foren, 77, of Memphis, formerly of Bradford, sales and delivery worker for Selthis, died Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services were Friday at Hunt Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. Foren, the husband of Regina Irene Foren for 55 years, also leaves two daughters, Sandra Jane Foren of Horn Lake, Miss., and Patti Ann Tingle of Collierville; a son, Eddie Wayne Foren of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Evelyn Dowland and Mildred Knott, both of Bradford; a brother, Bill Foren of Milan, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to AGAPE of Memphis.

Doug Anderson
GIBSON-Doug ‘Pete’ Anderson, 50, died July 27. An avid lover of boating, Mr. Anderson was a native of Savannah, GA. He received an Engineering degree from Clemson University and worked in Lebanon, with the Tennessee Woolen Mill and most recently as plant manager of the  Jones Company in Milan. Services were Wednesday at the Chapel of Hamilton Hills Funeral Home. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Willi Anderson; stepdaughter, Heide Hall of Nashville; grandson, Alexander Hall; brother, Raymond Anderson (Wilma) of La Grange, GA; sister, Phala Palmer of Orange Park, FL; mother, Hazel Anderson of Savannah, GA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Raymond Anderson.

Dale Pearman
ATWOOD-Dale Pearman, 68, retired engineer, died Monday at Humboldt General Hospital. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bodkin Funeral Home. He was a member and judge of the National Corvette Restoration Society and founder of Ellendale Stables in Sherborn, Mass. He leaves a daughter, Jennifer Pearman of Toronto, Canada; a son, Gary Stewart Pearman-Smith of New Bedford, Mass., and a sister, Margie Sevcik of Florida.

James Brown
MILAN-James Avery Brown, 57, died August 1, in New York City. Mr. Brown was retired from Morgan Stanley in New York City. Services were Friday, August 1, in New York City. The family will also have services and burial in Decatur, IL. Mr. Brown was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He graduated from Polk Clark High School in 1964. He is survived by his wife, Eva Brown, and daughter, Jasmine, both of New York City. He is also survived by five brothers, Michael, Jimmy, Tom, Ronnie, Gary, and was preceded in death by brother, Jeffery. Survivors also include two sisters, Mildred Oldham and Eva Rogers. All brothers and sisters were born and raised in Milan. He also left two aunts, Verlene and Merlene Williamson, and an uncle, Dwayne Williamson, all of Milan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Woodson Brown, and father, Leon Brown, both of Milan.

MILAN-Robert H. ‘Bob’ Ford, 73, retired farmer, died Saturday at Regional Hospital in Jackson. Masonic memorial services will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home. He was a member of the Milan Masonic Lodge #191. Mr. Ford, the husband of Peggy Ford, also leaves two daughters, Cherry Klein of Franklin and Becky Redman of Arlington, TX; two sons, Robert Ford Jr. of Lexington and David Ford of Milan; four grandchildren, Jennifer Klein, Zach Ford, Logan Ford and Andi Lee Redman. The family requests that memorials be sent to Salem United Methodist Church.

Virginia Boen
MILAN-Virginia Mai Fly Boen, 85, retired accountant for Volunteer Leather, died Sunday at Summers Landing Retirement Center in Trenton. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Milan. Mrs. Boen, the widow of Arne Boen, leaves a daughter, Ginny Tyner of Trenton; a brother, Vernon Fly of Daulphin Island, Alaska; two granddaughters, Dina Bowers and Megan Deem and a great-grandson, Dalton Bowers. The family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice of West TN or First United Methodist Church in Milan.

John Knox
GREENFIELD-John Calvin Knox, 85, assistant manager of Hays Food Store, died Saturday at Humboldt General Hospital. Services were Monday at Hunt Funeral Home with burial in Union Cemetery. He was a WWII Army veteran. Mr. Knox leaves a daughter, Patsy Sutherland of Louisville, KY; a brother, David Knox of Greenfield; two sisters, Elsie Harrison of Bradford and Mary McCaslin of Greenfield.

Fred Michael (Mike) Myatt, 54, of Germantown, TN. died Saturday Feb. 7 at about 6:00 p.m. of a heart attack at his home. Funeral arrangements were by Memphis Funeral Home at 5599 Poplar Avenue (901-725-0100) with visitation expected Monday Feb. 9 and the funeral Tuesday Feb. 10 at Grace Evangelical Church where Mr. Myatt was active.
Mr. Myatt was born July 23, 1949 at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands and was a 1967 graduate of Milan High School and member of the last Bulldog basketball team to go undefeated in regular season. His family moved to Milan from Germany in 1961 and his father, the late Ret. Maj. Fred Myatt was commander of the Milan Arsenal. The Myatts lived in Milan until 1975.
Mike Myatt was recently employed as a sales representative of manufacturing safety equipment. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Thomason of Memphis; daughter, Leigh; son Chris, a law student at Univ. of Tenn. and wife, Elizabeth; and two grandsons, David Austin Campbell and  Jackson William Campbell. Mr. Myatt leaves his mother Edna Myatt of Huntsville, AL. and two sisters, Suzanne Myatt and Judy Myatt Mabe of Chattanooga.

Freddie Greene
DYER-Freddie Louise Greene, homemaker, 83, died Saturday at Humboldt General Hospital. Services were Monday at First United Methodist Church in Dyer with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Karnes Funeral Home had charge. Ms. Greene is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Greene; a daughter, Jane Wallstedt of Memphis; a son, Don Greene of Medina; and two grandchildren.

IDLEWILD-Funeral services for Charlie Harris, 91, were Sunday at Hunt Funeral Home with burial in Pounds-Idlewild Cemetery. Mr. Harris died Saturday at Milan General Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mae Harris; a daughter, Omega McCartney of Idlewild; a son, Edward Harris of Milan; brothers, Obie Harris, Gene Harris and Leonard Harris of Dyersburg; grandchildren, Phillip Jewell, John Harris, Penny Hubble and Kristi Pate and great-grandchildren, Kelly Shea Harris, Mary Beth Pate, Luke Hubble and Lauren Jewell.
