Bernice Hart
The funeral service for State Farm Insurance Agent Bernice Velez Hart of Paris, will be at First Church of the Nazarene, 4220 Hwy 218 Bypass at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
Rev. Barry Hart, brother-in-law, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Named as pallbearers are Sammy Rodriguez; Jason Corbitt; Josh, Matt, and Nathan Hart; Chris and Brian Michael; and Jonathan Woods.
Honorary pallbearers will be Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Sisters, past and present.
Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home at 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Church of the Nazarene. Family visitation on Sunday will be at 1 p.m.
Bernice Hart, 64, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at her home in Paris. Her husband, Stephen Allen “Steve” Hart survives. They were married
June 26, 1976 in Henry County, TN. Born in the Bronx, NY on January 6, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Velez, Sr. and the late Victoria M. Pareso.
Bernice Hart was an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance. She was employed for 28 years by the late Bill Cozart and, most recently, Jane Cozart Reid. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Paris. She served during the Vietnam War era with the U. S. Army Reserve in New Jersey.
Bernice Hart was active in the community, having served as State President for the Elks Ladies Auxiliary and Past President of the Paris-Henry County Arts Council. She was also an active member of the Paris-Henry County Jaycettes, and served as treasurer for the Fish Fry in 1987. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Center, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and she was a Notary Public. According to family members and friends, Bernice enjoyed fishing, sewing, quilting, cooking, and helping others.
Besides her husband, she leaves one son: Robert Daniel “Danny” (Jenny) Hart of Paris and three grandchildren: Callie Marie, Audrey Danielle, and Clayton Daniel Hart, of Paris. She is also survived by: brothers Samuel (Beverly) Rodriguez of Alexandria, MN and Joe (Dotty) Velez of Brick Township, NJ; sisters Carmen Medina of Newark, NJ and Margie (Bobby) Stefanelli of Brick Township, NJ; special niece Christine (Joe) Schmit and nephew Samuel Rodriguez, Jr.; brothers-in-law Barry (Ronda) Hart of Paris, Gene (Judy) Hart of Town Creek, AL and sisters-in-law Maureen (Mike) Stack of Paris and Sandra (Carl) Rowland of Colorado Springs, CO; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by stepmother Helen Velez of New Jersey, in-laws Thomas and Margaret Hart of Paris, and a niece Erika Rodriguez of Alexandria, MN.
Woodrow Johnson
Woody Johnson, 74, Puryear, died August 7, 2013 at Baptist Health of Paducah. Funeral services will be scheduled at McEvoy Funeral Home at a later time.
Survivors include his daughters Darleen Johnson, Puryear; Glenda Wilson, Bluff City; and step-daughter Tammy Meredith, Bristol, Va.; brothers Charles Johnson, Puryear and Arthur Johnson, Manchester; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Roy Watson Sr
Roy Watson, 54, Puryear, died August 6, 2013 in Jackson Madison County Genral Hospital. No services are scheduled at this time. McEvoy Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
He is survives by his mother Wilma Watson, Laurel, MS; wife Virginia Watson of Puryear; sons Roy Jr., Laurel and step son Elijah Wood, Puryear; sisters Debbie Pitre, La; Barbara Stone, Huntingdon; Belinda Wyland, Puryear and Angie DePRiest, Laurel; brothers Tex Watson, Puryear; Rocky Watson, Enid, Okla.; and George Watson, Camden; and five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Robert Chandler
Bob Chandler, 79, Portland, Tenn., died August 4, 2013 in Portland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial in Henry Cemetery.
A former Henry resident, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, a daughter Meg Wolf of Porland; a son Bob, Orlando; a sister Kathlene Ferrell, Florida; five grandchildren.
Raised in the old 23rd District, he was a Henry High School graduate. He received a bachelor's degree from Bethel and a master's from Murray State. He taught physical education for 30 years in Florida public schools and was a US Army veteran.

Mary Frances "Sally" Hicks Smith

She was the daughter of the late E.O. and Bessie Ellen Dinwiddie Hicks. On June 27, 1948 she married
Richard Harrell Smith, he preceded February 6, 2009.
Survived by a daughter Debra (Dudley) Kinsley, Floral Park, NY; son: Richard M. "Mike" (Dawn) Smith, Warrenton, VA; sister: Betty Herndon, Paris; grandchildren: Rebecca Frances Smith, Lexington, KY, Kelley Elizabeth Stoker, Memphis and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded by a sister: Martha Murphy and a brother George Hicks.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paris. She attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis and was a Dental Assistant.

James "Mike" Coley
Mike Coley, 56, Gleason, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, with burial in Walker cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Gerald White
Gerald White, 82, Paris, died Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Paris Healthcare. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10 at Lakeside Christan Fellowship. Memorials may be made to the Lakeside Christian Fellowship, 2920 Hwy 641 N, Paris. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
R. Gerald White went to be with the Lord on August 3 after being at Paris Healthcare Center for over a year. He was 82. He was preceded in death by his parents Arbie and Jourd White and a brother, Harold. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Cynthia Hancock White, his daughter Mandy White (Brad) Jones, son Steven Hancock White, and 3 year old twin granddaughters Abigail Olivia and Juliet Victoria Jones.
Gerald graduated from Vanderbilt in 1952. After going to Naval Officer Candidate School, he served aboard the Air Craft Carrier FDR. He was in the Navy 5 years before leaving to work in Paris with his father at White Vending Company, started by Jourd White in 1925.
Gerald enjoyed flying airplanes, sailing, playing tennis, taking singing lessons, karaoke and his beloved cat Frankie.
The family of Gerald White was truly blessed by Paris Healthcare for taking such good care of him during his illness. They especially want to thank Pastor Pam Hughes and Lakeside Christian Fellowship for their prayers and support. They would also like to thank Henry County Medical Center Hospice for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Lakeside Christian Fellowship, 2920 Hwy. 641 North in Paris. Memorials may also be made to Lakeside Christian Fellowship.
Hulon 'Hop' Hopkins

He was the son of the late Albert and Beulah Kendall Hopkins. On September 23, 1951 he married
LaVerne Morris Hopkins, she survives in Paris.
Survived by a son: Stephen M. (Patrice) Hopkins, Boone, NC; grandchildren: Emily Katherine Hopkins and Jonathan Lee Hopkins; special nephews: Glenn Wimberley and Larry Wimberley and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded by two sisters: Winifred Wimberley and Gladys Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins was a long time member of the East Wood Street Church of Christ. Hulon "Hop" retired from BPU with over 40 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

She was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Simon M. and Katie Yoder. On October 16, 1952 she married
Simon Yoder, he survives in Paris.
Survived by daughters: Pauline Schrock, Olney, Il, Martha Wengerd, Golden City, MO, Viola Nissley, Dyer, TN, Kathryn Schrock, Litchfield, CA; sons: Alvin Yoder, Golden City, MO, Norman Yoder, Paris, TN, Elwood Yoder, Russellville, KY, Elmer Yoder, Paris, TN, Everett Yoder, Paris, TN, Lyndon Yoder, Bloomfield, MO, Ralph Yoder, Paris, TN; four sisters, two brothers, seventy-six grandchildren and seventy-nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Yoder was a faithful member of the Calvary Mennonite Church until her death.

He was born in Henry County to the late Robert Cannon and Annie Gregson Cannon Flanagan.
Survived by a sister-in-law: Lucille Cannon, Mansfield; nephew: Charlie (Yvonne) Cannon, Mansfield, nieces: Bobbie (Randy) Korn, Georgia, Evelyn (Billy) Haynes, Trenton; great nieces and nephews: Diana Cannon, Todd Cannon, Nathan Haynes, Jessica Cannon, Mathew Dickerson, Tom Haynes, Derek Cannon; two great great nieces, three great great nephews; cousins: Larry Gregson, Sandy Winters, Elaine Heath and numerous other cousins; many special friends including Billy Bowden and Michael Lankford.
Pee Wee retired from Holley Carburetor formerly of Paris and farmed for many years. Farming was his lifetime love.
