George Owens
Longtime Henry Alderman George Owens, 71, passed away last week after continual battle with sickness the past several months.
Trinity Funeral home is handling his arrangements and visitation will be Tuesday 11-1 at the Henry Community Pentecostal Church of God and Christ and the service will be at 1pm Tuesday.
Owens served on the Henry Board for many years and just last week the board had accepted his resignation.
Owens worked as a Heavy Equipment operator for many years for various companies.

Carl Thoreson
Carl Thoreson, 86, Paris, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at his residence. Memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Wed. August 28 at McEvoy Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Ross of Thompson Creek Baptist Church and Dr. Corey Cain of Maplewood Baptist Church officiating, burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
He was born in McAllister, WI to the late Carl and Esther Peterson Thoreson. On July 26, 1969 he married Shirley M. Whiteside Thoreson, she survives in Paris.
Survived by daughters: Kathleen Thoreson, Prescott, AZ, Patricia Kerr, Indianapolis, IN, Julie Hersey, Marshall, VA; step-daughters: Ruth (Tom) Matteson, Andover, MN, Sherry (Rick) Ramin, Anoka, MN; step-sons: James (Karen) Roberts, Ramsey, MN, Michael Roberts, Ramsey, MN; sisters: Darlene (Dick) Umbaugh, Springfield, OH, Anna (Don) Beleck, Crystal Falls, MI, Bonnie (Lindy) Tadiello, Crystal Falls, MI; brothers: Gordon Allen Thoreson, White Pine, MI, Kenneth Thoreson, Amasa, MI, Terry Thoreson, Crystal Fall, MI, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Preceded by three brothers: Dean, Glen and Dale Thoreson.
Mr. Thoreson was a member of the Maplewood Baptist Church. He was a Major in the United States Army retiring after 22 years, serving in WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Veterans Administration after 17 years of service following his Army retirement. He was an avid bowler.
Memorials may be made to: Maplewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 8700 Hwy 218 Bypass, Paris, TN 38242.
McEvoy Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Paula Ann Hopper
Elizabeth Hopper, 35, Mansfield, died at her residence August 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.
She was employed for HeadStart in Dresden and had worked as a substitute teacher and at H&R Block in Paris, as well as the PI in Paris. She was member of TVCC.
Survivors include her fiance Donald Ruddell, Mansfield; father Paul Hyer, Hopkinsville; mother and step father Jim and Cathy Weed of Calif.; three sons Case and Buck Wimberley, both of Paris and Brady Wilson, also of Paris; six sisters, two brothers.
Memorials to: The Hopper Family c/o Ridgeway Funeral home, PO Box 788, Paris.

Opal Barnett
Opal Barnett, 92, Paris, died August 14, 2013 at Camden Healthcare and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery.
She was married to John Barnett and he died in 2005. Survivors include two daughters, Paula Barnett, Paris; and Pam McKenzie, Clarksville; three sons, Mike and Brad, both of Paris; barry, Camden; ten grand and nine great-grandchildren.
She was a long-time member of First united Methodist Church, was a Bellsouth telephone operator, formerly worked for the Paris PI and was a homemakder.
Memorials may be made to the church food pantry, PO Box 25, Paris, or West Tennessee Animal Rescue at www.westtnanimalrescue.org.

Jessie Marie (Hutchinson) Thomas
Jessie Marie Thomas, 76, of Puryear, Tennessee died Monday, August 19, 2013 in Murray-Callaway County Hospital after a brief illness.
Ridgeway Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
She was born March 8, 1937 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ed and Sarah Hutchinson. She was a homemaker who loved to garden and loved her cats. She was a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church.
Jessie is preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Elvis Hutchinson.
She is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Curtis Thomas; two sons, Steve Thomas of Fredrick, MD. and Curtis (Carrie) Thomas of Brownstown, MI; six brothers, Randel, Arthur, LeeRoy, Harold, Ralph, and Truman; six sisters, Belvia, Wilma, Deloris, Kay, Jackie and Arvilla; grandchildren, Robert, Sheri, Jill and Kenny; Several nieces and nephews .
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Fred Wiles, minister. Burial will follow at the Cribbs Hill cemetery near Grayson.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Cribbs Hill cemetery near Grayson.

Kevin Ray Flood
Kevin Flood, 44, Gleason, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Henry County Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral home, with cremation to follow.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; mother Rena Adams, McKenzie; second mother Margaret Flood, Paris; sisters Vikkie Woofford and Marsha Aldridge, both of Paris; brothers Gary Flood, Springville; Lee Smith, Dyersburg, Johnny Adams, McKenzie.
He was a recruiter for Bethel University and a member of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, Martin.

William Thomas McDaniel
Thomas McDaniel, 60, Henry, died Monday August 12, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at Bevil cemetery at 2 p.m. August 17. Ridgeway Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
His wife, Judy survives along with his mother, Robbie McDaniel, Henry; daughters Karla McDaniel, Arlington; Tammy Wheel, Mnuford; sons Trey McDaniel, Memphis; Tom Wheeling, Texas; and sister, Linda Harris, OK.
He was a former mechanic for the city of Bartlett and was a US Marine.

Buddy Shankle
Graveside service 10:30AM Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Walker cemetery with Bro. Mike Waddey of the Cottage Grove Baptist Church officiating.
No visitation is scheduled.
He was born in Henry County to the late Freeman and Ima Shankle.
Survived by a step-daughter: Brenda Paschall, Paris; sons: Richard A. (Belew) Shankle, Cottage Grove, Tommy (Lynda) Shankle, Paris, Jerry (Brenda) Shankle, Cottage Grove; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Preceded by his wife: Jeanette Doolin Shankle, January 30, 1995 and wife: Willene Brookshire Shankle, December 3, 2009; son: Teddy Shankle, September 2, 1994; sisters: Hazel Kimbel, Elizabeth Lindsey, Marie Coplen; brothers: Frank Shankle and Jack Shankle.
Buddy was a member of the Cottage Grove Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the Marshall Mason Lodge #109 at Cottage Grove and was a retired electrician from TVA.
