Gerald Elkins
Gerald Elkins, age 75, of Camden, Tenn., Long-time resident of Henry County, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Jackson Madison Co. Gen. Hosp. in Jackson, Tenn. He Formerly attended Paris Community Bible Church. He Retired after 56 years as a brick mason for Elkins Construction Co. He was A wonderful father that loved his children very much. Many People enjoyed working with him. He was Very well respected & thought of in Henry County Tennessee.
He was the son of the late Melvin Elkins and the late Alice Caroline Sanders Elkins.
He is survived by his Two Daughters, Lisa (Jonathan) Allen of McCaysville, Ga., Christy (Robert) McIntosh of Lake City, Tenn., Two Sons, Tony (Sharon) Elkins of Buchanan, Tenn., Scott (Annette) Elkins of Camden, Tenn., One Sister, Evelyn Axtell of Mountain Home, Idaho, Two Brothers, Gary (Debbie) Elkins of Buchanan, Tenn., Danny Elkins of Puryear, Tenn.

Odell Neal
Odell Neal, age 82, of Paris, Tenn., died Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Benchmark Healthcare of Puryear in Puryear, Tenn. He was First Married to Betty J. Mitchell Neal 11-23-1957 and she preceded in death 1-11-1996. Then he Married Nelliene Greenup Neal and she preceded in death. He was a Member of Central Point Baptist Church and SS Teacher and Formerly attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Henry, TN. He Retired from Plumley Rubber in Paris.
He was the son of the late Archie Neal and the late Edna Bolton Neal.
He is survived by his Two Daughters, Barbara Boyd of Paris, Tenn. and Nancy Nelson of Paris, Tenn.; One Sister, Eva Lindley of Grand Rapids, Mich; 4 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

David Clendenin
Well-known Musician David Clendenin, 73, of Paris died at his home Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. Clendenin played with Carl Perkins for eight years, with five trips to Europe during that time. He played with Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Mann, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Mel Tillis, and Willie Nelson. He also played with numerous Henry Countians for all types of ceremonies and events. Clendenin used the stage name "David Sea" in his professional career and many Henry Countians have his special guitar picks that he engraved with his name.
McEvoy Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with burial in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn, three sons, Leslie and Larry, both of Paris; and Jacque Odom, Nashville; sister, Katie Williams, Springville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Dave Henry Steele
Dave Steele, 94, Paris, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial in Palestine Cemetery.
He married
Eunice Robbins Steele and she survives with his son, Phillip Steele, Paris; daughter-in-law Judy Steele, Paris; sisters, Nancy Cate and Ruth Robbins, both of Paris; brother John Hill Steele, Paris; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
He was a WWII Army veteran who received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from Holly Carburetor Plant and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Wanda Thompson
Wanda Thompson, 78, Puryear, died at her residence Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial in Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery.
She married
Leon Thompson and he died in 1999. Survivors include two daughters Lois Heavner and Dayle Morse, both of Puryear; son Brian Thompson, Puryear; sissters, Martha Loosier, Puryear; Joyce Springman, Arlington, Tex.; Opal Duran, Joan Hollman and Barbara Nichols, all of Springtown, Tex.; and Evon Kern, Michigan; two brothers, Gene Nichols, Godley, Tex. and Mike Nichols, Azle, Tex. and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Foundry Hill Community of Christ Church and the Rainbow of Sound Women's Chorus.
Bobbie Jean Naugle
Bobbie Jean Naugle, 86, Paris, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at her home in Paris. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, with cremation to follow. Ridgeway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was married
to Paul Naugle and he survives with a daughter, Nancy Patterson, Sevensville, Mich; sons Bruce of Pittsville, Wisc; Craig of Paris; sister Marilyn Stockwell of Cincinnati; and numberous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a long-time member of First Christian Church and belonged to several bridge clubs in Paris. The family would like to thank henry County Hospice for the dediction and compassion shown the past month and express appreciation to home health care workers Dewilla (Susie) Porter and her daughter Genie (Nicki) McCurry who showed genuine love and caring to both Bobbie Jean and Paul.

Bettye Elliott, 73, Buchanan, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Weakley Co. Rehabilitation and Nursing. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral home, with cremation to follow.
She married
Waymon Elliott and he survives with a daughter Lisa Beddies, Paris; two sons, Lance Gamlin, Mt. Juliet; Lane Gamlin, Paris; step-daughter, Connie Harris, Martin; step-son Richard Ellitt, Paris.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, a nursing graduate of University of Tennessee-Martin, worked at Henry Co. General Hospital for 10 years and retired after 26 years as director of nursing at the Henry Co. Health Dept.
Linda Gardner
Linda Gardner, 55, died Sept. 22, 2013, at Good Samaritan Health Care and Rehab in Antioch. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Western Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Paris, with burial at the church cemetery. Terrell Broady Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
She was a cook at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville and a 1976 Henry Co. High School graduate.
Survivors are her husband, Ricky Gardner; daughter, Iona Gardner; five sisters, Shirley McGehee; Carol Corbin, Brenda McGehee, all of Paris; Veronica Menzies of Murray and twin Cynthia Edwards, Nashville; two brothers, John and Mark McGehee, both of Paris.

He was born in Paris to Jack Moon, preceded and Pauline Nimmo Moon, Paris. On June 21, 1985 he married
Judy Moon, she survives in Paris.
Survived by daughter: Christy Fautt, Paris; son: Josh Moon, Paris; sisters: Linda (Ronnie) Turner, Paris, Patsy (David) Langford, Paris; brother: Rickey (Debbie) Moon, Paris; grandchild: Jerin (Colton) Halstead; great-grandchildren: Callie and Jaceton Halstead.

Betty Lax
Betty Ann Lax, age 78, of Marble Hill, MO, a former resident of Henry County, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Missouri.
She was born November 26, 1934 in Buchanan, TN; daughter of William Wayne and Madie Williams Rowlett. She and Don Lax were united in marriage on September 10, 1953.
Betty graduated from Buchanan High School near Paris, in 1951, and received her B.S. degree from Murray State University in 1959. She taught Business Education at Leopold High School for four years and then at Woodland High School for 33 years.
Betty was a member of the First Baptist church of Marble Hill and a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Marble Hill.
Survivors include: her Husband Don; son Dwayne (Connie) Lax of Greenville, KY; daughter Lisa (Scott) McKim of Stafford, VA; three grandchildren, Craig Lax, Maxwell McKim and Madeline McKim.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral Services will be Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Marble Hills, MO with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating.

She was born in Whitlock, Henry County, TN to the late Albert Hilman and Neddie M.Pillow Allen. On January 19, 1953 she married
Ray Alvin Myers, he survives in Paris.
Survived by nieces: Judy Reeves, Darlene Allen Combs and Janet Allen; nephews: Gene Albert Allen and Bobby G. Allen and many other nieces and nephews in Tennessee and South Carolina.
Preceded by three brothers: James Allen, Mason "Archie" Allen and Gene Allen and a nephew: Phillip D. Allen.
Mrs. Myers was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church and was active in the Lutheran Women Missionary League for many years. She was a former member of Helping Hands and had served as Vice-President and Secretary. She served as officer of the Farm Bureau Women Organization and was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Henry County Cancer Society. For some, she was best known as co-owner and operator of Myers Peach Orchard on Hwy 54. Clarice was a seasoned traveler, having lived in Germany and toured Europe as a career Army wife. She enjoyed fishing, playing games with friends and family and tending to her flowers and birds.

Dale Hanzl
Memorial time for Mr. Hanzl, 54, Gleason, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Maplewood Baptist Church. He died Sept. 7, 2003. McEvoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
