Walter Wesley Newton
Walter Newton, 55, Buchanan, died Oct. 2, 2013 at his residence. The body will be cremated. Ridgeway Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
He married Vickie Newton and she survives with a son, Joshua Sadler, Dallas; sister Kathy Peterson, N.C.; and brothers Billy, Scott and Morris Newton, all of N.C.
He was a US Navy veteran and retired construction worker.

Margaret Cooper
Margaret Cooper, 89, Springville, died Oct. 2, 2013 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Grove Cemetery. Ridgeway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She married Tom Cooper and he died in 1995. She was raised a Catholic.
Survivors include a daughter JoAnn McDaniel, S.C. and several grand and great-grandchildren.

Harriet Thomas
Funeral service 2:00PM Saturday at McEvoy Funeral Home with Gary Collier officiating, burial will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery.
Named as pallbearers are Lucas Ragan, Garrett Wyatt, Danny Laird and Kevin Baumgardener.
Visitation 12:00 - 2:00PM Saturday.
She was born in Springville, TN to the late Cuterill and Winnie Clendenin Hicks. On April 1, 1952 she married Henry Leonard Thomas, he preceded April 28, 1996.
Survived by a daughter: Susan (Danny Laird) Thomas, Jackson, TN; grandchildren: Sancha (Kevin Baumgardener) Wyatt and Lucus (Jennifer) Ragan and three great-grandchildren: Ashley Wyatt, Garrett Wyatt and Jacob Ragan.
Preceded by a brother: James Earl Hicks.

Barry Lee Singleton
Barry Singleton, 53, Paris, died Oct. 2, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held a 1 p.m. Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial at Poplar Grove Cemetery.
He married Debra Stout Singleton, who survives with his father, Chester Singleton, Paris; daughters Tabitha Singleton and Candice Singleton Buie, both of Paris; Anita Morgan, Mansfield; April Woodard, Nashville; sons Barry Singleton Jr., S.C.; Michael Morgan, Puryear; Christopher Morgan, Paris; sister Cindy Cherry, Paris; brothers Johnnie Singleton, Puryear; and Lonnie Singleton, Paris.
He was retired as a 20-year journeyman wireman for International Brotherhood of Electric Workers Local 429, Nashville, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Big Sandy.
The family invites all bikers to ride their motorcycles in Barry's funeral procession.

Nelle Mabe
Funeral service 10 AM Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at McEvoy Funeral Home with Bro. David Jackson of the Cottage Grove Church of Christ officiating, burial will follow at Walker Cemetery.
Visitation 3:00 - 7:00PM Friday and after 9:00AM Saturday until service time at McEvoy.
She was born in Cottage Grove, TN to the late Wilson Lewis and Mamie Moore Pennington. She married Quinton John Mabe on October 19, 1949, he preceded October 18, 1999.
Survived by a son: Randy Lewis (Sharon) Mabe, Las Vegas, NV, Sherman Quinn Mabe, Paris, TN; grandchildren: Christopher Lewis Mabe, Jennifer Louise Mabe, Lisa Mabe, Sarah (Dolan) Henderson; great-grandchildren: Kieran Lane Hill, Titan Lewis Norris, Levi Henderson and Erica Henderson.
Preceded by a brother: Joe Thomas Pennington, June 30, 1996.
Nelle was a faithful member of the Oakley Boulevard Church of Christ in Las Vegas, NV. She graduated from Draughon's Business College in Nashville, TN, previously worked at Holley Carburetor, Mitchum Company and Child Day Care.
Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

Dave Henry Steele
Dave Steele, 94, Paris, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial in Palestine Cemetery.
He married Eunice Robbins Steele and she survives with his son, Phillip Steele, Paris; daughter-in-law Judy Steele, Paris; sisters, Nancy Cate and Ruth Robbins, both of Paris; brother John Hill Steele, Paris; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
He was a WWII Army veteran who received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from Holly Carburetor Plant and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Memorials can be made to: Springhill Baptist Church building fund, c/o Johnny Foust, 2740 Hwy 77, Paris; or Palestine cemetery Fund, c/o Bettye Carter, 3245 Gate 3 Rd., Paris.

Wanda Thompson
Wanda Thompson, 78, Puryear, died at her residence Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home, with burial in Foundry Hill Community of Christ Cemetery.
She married Leon Thompson and he died in 1999. Survivors include two daughters Lois Heavner and Dayle Morse, both of Puryear; son Brian Thompson, Puryear; sissters, Martha Loosier, Puryear; Joyce Springman, Arlington, Tex.; Opal Duran, Joan Hollman and Barbara Nichols, all of Springtown, Tex.; and Evon Kern, Michigan; two brothers, Gene Nichols, Godley, Tex. and Mike Nichols, Azle, Tex. and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Foundry Hill Community of Christ Church and the Rainbow of Sound Women's Chorus.

Bobbie Jean Naugle
Bobbie Jean Naugle, 86, Paris, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at her home in Paris. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, with cremation to follow. Ridgeway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was married to Paul Naugle and he survives with a daughter, Nancy Patterson, Sevensville, Mich; sons Bruce of Pittsville, Wisc; Craig of Paris; sister Marilyn Stockwell of Cincinnati; and numberous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a long-time member of First Christian Church and belonged to several bridge clubs in Paris. The family would like to thank henry County Hospice for the dediction and compassion shown the past month and express appreciation to home health care workers Dewilla (Susie) Porter and her daughter Genie (Nicki) McCurry who showed genuine love and caring to both Bobbie Jean and Paul.

Nelle Mabe, 87, Las Vegas, formerly of Cottage Grove, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Las Vegas. Funeral services at McEvoy Funeral Home are incomplete.

Bettye Jane Elliott
Bettye Elliott, 73, Buchanan, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Weakley Co. Rehabilitation and Nursing. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral home, with cremation to follow.
She married Waymon Elliott and he survives with a daughter Lisa Beddies, Paris; two sons, Lance Gamlin, Mt. Juliet; Lane Gamlin, Paris; step-daughter, Connie Harris, Martin; step-son Richard Ellitt, Paris.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, a nursing graduate of University of Tennessee-Martin, worked at Henry Co. General Hospital for 10 years and retired after 26 years as director of nursing at the Henry Co. Health Dept.

Robert Joseph Alcock, Jr.
Robert Joseph Alcock, Jr., age 75 of Buchanan, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
Alcock was a retired welder who worked with the CSX Railroad. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joseph Alcock, Sr., and Evelyn Alice Trumble Alcock, and his sister Lavinia Tilton.
Alcock is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Forbes Alcock of Buchanan, Tenn., their daughters Bobbi Alcock of Liverpool, NY and Sara (Bruce) Gray of Johnstown, NY, their son Grover (Amy) Alcock of Cayuga, NY, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Alcock is also survived by his twin sister Rebecca (Donald) Sanderson of Buchanan, sister Ethel Tucker of Titusville, FL, and several cousins, nieces and nephews including Donald (Karin) Sanderson of Dover, TN.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 31 from 4 to 8 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home with burial to follow at a later date in Alcock's birthplace in New York.

Jerry Dean Page
Jerry Dean Page, age 69 of Paris, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Visitation will be held at McEvoy Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, October 29 and after 10 AM Wednesday, October 30.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, October 30 at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bevil Cemetery.

Donna Johnson Olive
Donna Johnson Olive, age 66 of Paris, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at her home.
Olive was a retired schoolteacher who taught for 25 years with the Paris Special School District. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church.
Olive is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Sherrell Brown Olive, who died May 5, 1999, as well as her parents Robert W. and Lucille Wyatt Johnson.
Olive is survived by two daughters, Amy Olive (Ken) Treece of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Susan Olive (David) Winters of Oxford, Miss., a son, John David (Brandy Gail) Olive of Paris, and five grandchildren.
She is also survived by special friend Andy Hooper of Paris.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 30 from 5 to 7 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
