Betty L. Belote
Betty Belote, age 85 of Paris, died Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Paris Healthcare Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil L. and Jewel E. Chastain Clark, her husband of almost 56 years, Charles William Belote, who died January 9, 2001, and two sisters, Zelma Brown and JoAnn Spielburger.
Belote is survived by her son Charles "Bill" (Vickie) Belote of Paris, her daughter Carol Ann Tedford of Paris, eight grandchildren and thirteen grandchildren.
Belote was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, a past Worthy Matron in Eastern Star, and a former High Priestess of Lady's Oriental Shrine.
Her body was donated to science and there are no services scheduled.
William Edward "Ed" Wright
William Edward "Ed" Wright, age 88 of Hollow Rock, Tenn., formerly of Henry County, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his residence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 26 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and on Sunday from noon until 1 PM at New Hope United Methodist Church in Hollow Rock.
Services will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 27 at 1 PM with interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Building Fund, care of Ronnie Bennett, 2190 New Hope Road, Hollow Rock TN 38342.
Betty M. Russell
Betty M. Russell, age 83 of Paris, died October 22, 2013 at her residence. Russell was a member of Van Dyke Church of Christ, raising her children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Russell is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John C. Russell, who died April 6, 2013.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Elwood B. Miller and Alice Davenport Miller, two sisters, and one brother who died in infancy.
Russell is survived by four sons, James L. (Darla) Russell of Paris, Jack C. (Anne) Russell of Paris, Billy R. (Rosemary) Russell of Paris, and Jeffrey A. (Peggy) Russell of Cottage Grove, one daughter, Jane R. Coddington of Irvine, Calif., fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM Saturday, October 26 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, Ky.
Services will take place at 2 PM Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, Ky. with interment to follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Liberty, Ky.
Mary Sue Marshall
Mary Sue Marshall, age 93 of Paris, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her daughter’s residence. Marshall was the wife of Minister Bernard K. Marshall; the two married
October 28, 1945.
She was a former employee of the Woolworth’s in Paris, loved yard work and maintained an immaculate lawn. She was even said to work on her neighbors’ yards if they didn’t measure up.
Marshall is preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Bernard K. Marshall, who died October 24, 2008, her parents James William Sweeney and Betty Rhodes Sweeney, sisters Christine Foust and Rheudine Calk, and son Glen Dale Marshall.
She is survived by her sister Laverne France of Paris, daughters Linda Harden of Paris and Nancy Marshall of Southaven, Miss., three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, October 27 at First Assembly of God in Paris, with burial to follow Monday, October 28 in Memorial Cemetery.

Horace Lee "Hoss" Adams
Horace Lee “Hoss” Adams, age 88 of Buchanan, passed away October 20th, 2013 at Benchmark Healthcare in Puryear.
Adams was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Buchanan United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong farmer and a retired machinist who worked with the TVA in Cumberland City for 14 years.
Adams is preceded in death by his father, Henry Lee Adams, and mother, Maggie Doran Jackson Adams, as well as his sister Norine Hopkins and brother John Henry Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verble Scarborough Adams, their three sons, Kenneth Ray Adams of Ewing, Va., Ronnie Lee Adams of Lebanon, Tenn., and Victor Curtis Adams of Buchanan, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Adams is also survived by his sister, Doran Longendorfer of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Visitation will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home Tuesday, October 22 from 4 PM to 8 PM and at Buchanan United Methodist Church Wednesday, October 23rd beginning at 10 AM.
Services will be held at Buchanan United Methodist Church Wednesday, October 23rd at 11 AM with interment to follow in Bethel cemetery in Buchanan.
Mae Dell Bucy
Mae Dell Bucy, age 84 of Buchanan, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
Bucy was a homemaker, a longtime resident of the Buchanan community, and a lifetime member of Bethlehem Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bucy, Jr., who died April 1, 1998, as well as her father, Cecil Hopkins, her mother Myrtle Hopkins Hopkins, sisters Oeda Garrison, Dorothy McClure, and Mildred Dodd, and her brother Cecil Hopkins, Jr., who died in infancy.
Bucy is survived by sisters Geraldine Davis of Dearborn, Mich., Laura McKinley of Hardin, Ky., and Janie Yearry of Murray, Ky., her brother Larry Hopkins of Mayfield, Ky., her daughters Marjorie Barber of Gordonsville, Tx., Mary Beth Wimberly of Buchanan, Melody Welshofer of Smyrna, Tenn., her son Kent Bucy of Buchanan, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20th from 4 to 8 PM and on Monday, October 21st at 10 AM. Services will be held at LeDon Chapel at Ridgeway Funeral Home Monday, October 21st at 11 AM with burial to follow at Bethel cemetery in Buchanan.
Ardell Cole
Judge Ardell Cole, who died October 14, 2013 at age 94 in Nashville, served the public for 28 years as a judge and circuit court clerk and was a distinguished World War II veteran. He was Henry County’s Circuit Court clerk from 1962-1976 and was General Sessions Court judge here from 1976-1990.
Born in Henry County, he graduated from Grove High School and attended Denver (Colo.) University.
In 1962, Cole, who was youth director at First United Methodist Church, took a leave of absence, to seek the office of circuit court clerk. He was elected and held the office until he was appointed General Sessions Court judge by then-Gov. Ray Blanton in 1976. Cole was recognized as the last of the “nonlawyer” judges to preside over General Sessions Court in Henry County.
One of Cole’s most memorable judgments was signing a legal order declaring video poker machines contraband. The order, which led to seizure of illegal poker machines here, resulted in district attorneys and law enforcement officials taking similar action in larger East Tennessee counties, as well as in Metro Nashville.
In his military service, Cole was drawn into the 115th Field Artillery of the Tennessee National Guard in May 1940. Made up mostly of Paris and Henry County men, the unit was federalized in September. After officer training July 1943 with Battery B, Cole joined the 463rd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, a unit of the 101st Airborne Division. He remained in this unit throughout the war. He made combat jumps in the invasion of Sicily and southern France, survived five months at Anzio against strong German resistance and disabled Nazi tanks at point blank range in the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne, advancing from the rank of private to major and receiving eight campaign ribbons.
In the community, Cole was the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce’s Person of the Year in 1985.
Cole died Monday October 14, 2013 in Nashville under the care of his daughters, Dr. Cathy Cole, retired, and Christy Cole, Tax Attorney and Financial Advisor with Merrell Lynch. Mr. Cole was married
August 18, 1948 to the former Dottie Lowe of Paris and she preceded him in death June 11, 2006. The funeral service will be Thursday October 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Paris. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 – 5:30 pm and after 1 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Marie Long Dicus
Marie Long Dicus, 67 of Paris, died October 13, 2013 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Dicus was a member of West Wood Pentecostal Church of God in Paris, a devoted wife and mother and a dedicated church worker who loved her church family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Cliff Long, and mother, Ruby Lee Long. Dicus is survived by her husband, Harold Eugene Dicus, whom she married
June 22, 1963.
She is also survived by one brother, David Dwayne Long of Paris, one daughter, Debra Lynn (Tony) Hughes of Newbern, Tenn., two sons, Johnnie Lewis Dicus of LaVergne, Tenn., and Jeffrey Eugene (Deanna) Dicus of Henry, as well as five grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tenn., from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, and after 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 16 at West Wood Pentecostal Church of God. The Funeral service will be at West Wood Pentecostal Church of God at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 16.

Interment will be at Memorial cemetery in Paris, Tenn.
George Frederick Moore
George F. Moore, 78 of McKenzie, passed away October 12, 2013 at his residence. Visitation will be held at from 5 to 8 PM PM on Tuesday, October 15.
Moore was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and received a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Memphis. He operated Moore Pharmacy from 1964 to 1980 and was a member of Kappa Psi Ro Ki, a fraternal organization of pharmacists.
Moore retired from Henry County Medical Center and was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
He is preceded in death by his father Eugene Moore, his mother Martha Louise Goodman Moore, and brothers Eugene R. Moore, Jr. and Jere Vann Moore.
He is survived by daughters Michelle (David) Guy of Nashville, Minette (Danny) Veazey of Paris, and Miranda (Mark) Jones of Huntington; grandchildren Sarah Guy, Shannon Guy, Arianna (Jimmy) Green, Rachel Jones, Nicholas Jones, Lydia Jones, Matthew Jones, Claire Jones; and special friend Janice Smith of McKenzie.
Virginia Mann Johnson
Virginia Mann Johnson, age 88, formerly of Paris, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at her home in Jackson, Tenn.
She along with her late husband James Johnson were the owners of Johnson Imports in Paris, among the first Nissan dealers in Tennessee.
Johnson is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Johnson, who passed away in 2002, along with her parents Ida and David Mann, brother Dwayne Mann, and her son Mike Johnson who passed away in 2007.
Johnson is survived by her daughter, Ondra (Charles) Farmer of Jackson, Tenn, along with four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley Mann of Paris and a very special caregiver, Randie Hodge.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 12 to 2 PM at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday in LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Rose Lawn Memory Garden.
