Margie Veazey
Marjorie "Margie" Shankle Veazey, 89, of Cottage Grove died Saturday, July 19, at Henry County Healthcare Center.
Margie was born in Cottage Grove, Tenn. on Feb. 1, 1925; she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Shankle.
She was married
on Oct. 9, 1943, to William H. “Bill” Veazey, who died Oct. 9, 1987.
Mrs. Veazey was a homemaker most of her life. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Veazey Store. She also worked at the Mitchum Co. until it closed and was a former cook at Cottage Grove School. She was a member of the Center Family and Community Education club, a homemaker’s club, where she was known for her fried pies. A family member said she was an avid supporter of Hoof Beats of Hope, Inc.
She is survived by one daughter: Ann Wilson of Cottage Grove; one son: James “Jim” (Kathy) Veazey of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren: Angela Wilson of Cottage Grove, Jared (Bobbi) Veazey of Mayfield and Ashlie (Joe) Darke of Dover; two great-grandchildren: Gavin Cade Veazey and Joey Darke; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she also was preceded in death by three brothers: Leon, George and Coyle Shankle; and a son-in-law: Richard Wilson.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday July 21, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home with the funeral services to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at LeDon Chapel of Ridgeway Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Vernell Emerson
Vernell Emerson, age 81 of Warren, Mich., formerly of Paris, died Friday, July 18 at St. Johns Macomb Hospital in Warren.
Mrs. Emerson lived in Michigan until 1988 when she then retired with her husband George and moved back to their home in Tennessee. Vernell was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 25 years.
She and George were married
50 years when he passed away. In August of 2013, she went to live with her daughter Carolyn in Michigan and passed away at St. Johns Macomb Hospital in Warren, Mich. where she had worked many years ago.
Emerson is preceded in death by her husband George Emerson who died July 5, 1996, as well as her parents Herman Flowers and Bonnie Long Flowers, and her brother James Flowers.
She is survived by her brother Ray (Nancy) Flowers of Buchanan, Tenn.; sisters Shirley (R.T.) Bennett of Springville, Tenn., Ramona (Franklin) Bell of Paris, and Diane Potts of Buchanan; sons Jerry Emerson of Paris and Danny (Diane) Emerson of Carsonville, Mich.; daughter Carolyn (Michael) Barber of Warren, Mich.; nine grandchildren, eleven grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 PM Monday, July 21 and after 10 AM Tuesday, July 22 at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, July 22 at McEvoy Funeral Home with burial to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
James Walker
James E. Walker, age 76, of Paris, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence in Paris, Tenn.
James married
Sandy Bradshaw Walker September 22, 1973 and she survives. James retired after 12 years as a Police Officer with the City of Paris. He also worked as a security guard and a private investigator. He was an avid musician that played music weekly at various places. He enjoyed horses and motorcycles.
He was born September 2, 1937 in Paris, TN to the late Hampton Walker and the late Odell Elkins Walker.
Besides his wife Sandy, James is also survived by his Six Daughters, Connie (Lonnie) Dicus of Paris, Tenn, Angelia (Mark) Simmons of New Concord, Ky, Carey Bell & Fiance' Jimmy Lankford of Henry, Tenn, Rebecca (Eddy) Paredes of Paris, Tenn, Christie (Jose) Meza of Radcliff, Ky, Jammie (Roddy) Adkisson of Paris, Tenn; Two Sons, Frankie (Angela) Walker of Paris, Tenn, Darrell (Cindy) Milliken of Paris, Tenn; One Sister, Miriam (Jack) Kirkendall of Knoxville, Tenn, One Brother, H. Hallie Nichols
Hallie Mae Flanagan Nichols, age 84, of Paris, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Life Care Center of Bruceton in Bruceton, Tenn.
She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was a Retired Manager of Holley Credit Union in Paris, TN.
She was born January 17, 1930 in Paris, TN to the late Hallie Flanagan and the late Prudie Oliver Flanagan.
She is survived by her One Daughter, Jennifer Allison & Fiancee Steve Hatley of Eva, Tenn; One Sister, Winnie Dunlap of Paris, Tenn; One Brother, Wendell (Dianne) Flanagan of Paris, Tenn; One Half Brother, Terry Flanagan of Tenn; One Grandchild, Carrie Nichols (who was raised by Hallie Mae) of Louisville, KY.
Besides her parents, Hallie Mae was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Nichols; sisters, Catherine Calloway and Francis Wilson; and a grandchild, Jimmy Nichols.

Henry Evans
Henry V. Evans, 93, of Springville, died Wednesday July 16th at his residence.
According to his family: he was a story teller, loved his family, and was known as one of the strongest men in Henry County.Memorials may be made to: Poplar Grove cemetery Fund, 825 Lakeview Manor Road, Springville, TN 38256.
Visitation will be held Friday July 18th from 12-2:30pm at McEvoy Funeral home with a graveside service at Poplar Grove cemetery at 3pm.
Garry Zook
Garry Blain Zook, age 63, of Springville, Tenn., died Saturday, July 12, at his residence.
He was married
October 25, 1996 to Barbara Towe Zook, and she survives.
He was a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Garry was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan, TN. He was a former pastor of Woodville Baptist in Woodville, Tenn., and Illinois Avenue General Baptist in Sikeston, Mo. He served as Mission Volunteer Program Director for General Baptist International serving in areas of Honduras, Phillipines, Mexico and Jamaica. He was a Co-Founder of Auto Zone and was a US Army Veteran.
Garry was born November 22, 1950 to the late Willie A. Zook and the late Parisea Latham Zook.
Besides his wife, Garry is also survived by three daughters, Kristina Zook of Hendersonville, Tenn, Mandy (Steven) Dennis of Helotes, Texas, Cindy (Jerod) Dockins of Benton, Mo; one son, Blaine (Jennifer) Zook of Missoula, Mont; six sisters, Delphia Houghlan of Columbia, Ill, Dathol Barksdale of Sikeston, Mo, Laverta Bonta of St. Louis, Mo, Linda Ivie of Sikeston, Mo, Carolyn Shemwell of Dover, Tenn, Brenda Watson of Poplar Bluff, Mo; three brothers, Elvon Zook of Buckner, Ill, Billy Zook of Bloomfield, Mo, Chelvis Zook of Wappapello, Mo; and seven grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Garry was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Zook.

Interment will be at Dogwood cemetery in Dogwood, Mo.

Bobby Goff
Bobby Gene Goff, age 79 of Springville, Tenn., died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Henry County Medical Center.
He was married
Sept. 7, 1962 to Jacquelynn Dace Goff, and she survives.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Fowlkes, Tenn. Bobby was a truck driver for 54 years and retired from Yellow Freight after 16 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt and he was devoted totally to his family.
He was born June 16, 1935 in Hickman, KY to the late Arlie C. Goff and the late Mary Lee Graves Goff.
Besides his wife, Bobby is also survived by his daughter, Deborah Lynn Goff of Dyer, Tenn; six sons, Donald Ray (Lavern) Goff of Rutherford, Tenn, Sonny (Gayle) Goff of Friendship, Tenn, Marty (Mitze) Goff of Bruceville, Tenn, Phillip Goff of Newbern, Tenn, Kent (Deborah) Baumgardner of Newbern, Tenn, Scott Baumgardner of Springville, Tenn; sister, Linda Goff of Dyersburg, Tenn; three brothers, Leon Goff of Finley, Tenn, Tommy Goff of Dyersburg, Tenn, Raylyn Goff of Camden, Tenn; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Besides his parents, Bobby was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Earl Goff; and grandchildren, Martie Kaye Goff and Robert Goff.

He is to be cremated with a private family service to be held at a later date.

Jennifer Whipple
Jennifer Lynn Whipple, age 36, of Paris, Tenn., died Thursday, July 10, at her residence.
She was married
December 27, 2003 to Michael Whipple who survives. She attended New Beginning Church in Big Sandy, TN. She was a homemaker and a stay at home mom who loved softball, sunsets, storms, and spending time with her children.
She was born September 17, 1977 to the late Wilburn B. "Greg" Gregory and Sandra Watkins Gregory of Paris.
Besides her husband and mother, she is also survived by her daughter, Kayla Lynn Perry of Paris, Tenn; son, Logan Gregory Perry of Paris, Tenn; two brothers, Craig Eugene Gregory of Aurora, Colo and Jeffery "Jeff" Steven Gregory of Paris, Tenn; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, Jennifer was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Gregory.
