FULTS, MRS. OPHELIA, 99, died, (1917 – 2016), Tuesday December 19, 2016 at her home with her daughters at her bedside. She was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on July 16, 1917 to Jim Dickerson and Nina Givens Dickerson who preceded her in death along with her husband, Kermit Fults; brother, Ted Dickerson; sister, Geneva Risko; a infant brother, Dee. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont. She owned and operated the Cumberland Café in Altamont and a Shoe store. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Dwight) Myers and Nina (Late Greg) Fults; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren;1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Willie Childers and Russell Ladd officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery. Visitation: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.

LONG, MRS. BENNIE KAY, 75, (1941 – 2016), died Monday December 19, 2016 at her home. She was born in McMinnville on August 22, 1941 to Willard Grissom and Louie Marie Roberts Grissom who preceded her in death along with her infant brother Sammy. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Long Sr. ; daughters, Regina K. Smartt, Beersheba Springs and Crista (Joe) Long, McMinnville; sons, Charles E. “Chuck” (Dee) Long Jr., Spencer, Mark (Susan) Long, Beersheba Springs and Jeremy (Carol) Long, Chattanooga; brother, Joe (Martha) Grissom, McMinnville; grandchildren, Stephanie, Nick, Cody, Tiffany, Mason, Jade, Wesley, Kayleigh and Kirsty; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Sean, Steffen and Tyrus. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Bill Walkup officiating with burial to follow in the Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.

SCISSOM, MS. WENDY MICHELLE, (May 15, 1980 - December 16, 2016) A memorial service will be held at Tracy City First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 P. M.

LEWIS, MRS, GLORIA ANNA, (September 1, 1927 – December 11, 2016), age 89 fell asleep in death Saturday, December 11, 2016. She was born and lived in Cincinnati, Ohio and Lantana, Florida, before moving to Monteagle in 2008. She had been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 61 years. Her greatest joy in life was helping others understand God's Word. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis; sons, Gary Lewis and Terry Lewis and his wife, Tressie; brother-in-law, Jim Griffis. Survivors include her sister, Martha Griffis; granddaughter, Katrina (Richard) Thomas; grandsons, Dustin (Kristi) Martin and Ryan Martin; nieces, Bonnie (Bill) Nunley and Glory O'Blenes; great-grandchildren, Brandt and Hunter Thomas; daughter-in-law, Sharon; and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 17 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Coalmont. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation to: Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 would be appreciated. Arrangements are by Foster & Lay Funeral Home of Tracy City.

KING, MRS., LYNN HOMBAKER, (September 20, 1987 – December 10, 2016), age 29 of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away at her home on Saturday evening with her family by her side. She was a native of Whitwell and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lynn Elizabeth Hombaker and Kenneth Hombaker. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Nicholas King; daughters, Isabella Sitz, Elizabeth, Molly and Victoria King; Godchildren, Morgan, Kaeden, Madison and Gracelyn; parents, Richard and Sandra Hombaker; grandmother, Lelar Pierce; brother, Rick Hombaker and many many friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Elder Franklin Hill officiating. Burial will be at the Hombaker-King Family cemetery in Tracy City. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 P.M. At the funeral home. Arrangements are by Foster & Lay Funeral Home of Tracy City.

CLAYBORN, MR. ROBERT CARR, 73, (1943 – 2016), died Monday December 12, 2016 at his home in Altamont. He was retired from Carrier and was a plumber and electrician. He was born in Overton County, Tennessee on October 24, 1943 to Howard and Lena Gore Carr who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Jewel and Doyle Carr; wife, Treva Bean. He is survived by his son, Kevin Robert Carr; daughter, Ashley Bolin; sister, Judy Randall; brothers, Donald and Pat Carr; 2 grandchildren. Mr. Carr’s wishes was to be cremated and his ashes scattered

JAMES, MR. RANDEL HOYT (1943 – 216), 73, of Gruetli-Laager, died Friday, December 9, 2016 from injuries he received in an automobile accident near Whitwell. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on June 4, 1943 to Albert M. James and Ruby Anderson James who preceded him in death along with his wife, Claudia Faye "Sissy" Burnett James; daughters, Melissa Ann Cookston Jackson and Cristy Elaine James; brothers, Tommy, Billy, Neal, Malcolm and Mallory James. He attended Bivens Chapel Congregational Methodist Church and loved playing the guitar at church and singing. Randel was a retired auto body repairman. He is survived by his sons, Dewayne and Tommy James; brother, Oscar Harold (Martha) James; sisters, Mary (Edward) O'Neal, Diane James and Teresa (Mike) Cordell; sister-in-law, Ruby James; grandchildren, Casey and Tommy Jessie James, Justin Cookston, Faith Jackson; great grandchildren, Daniel, Joel and Dixie James; special girlfriend, Wanda Birdwell; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers Larry Campbell and Crow Rollins officiating. Burial followed in the Palmer Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

NUNLEY, MR. ALBERT DOUGLAS, age 67, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 11, 2016 in the Foster & Lay Chapel with Brother Barry Nolan and Brother Dwight Walker officiating. Burial was in the Nunley Family cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.

JOHNSON, MR. WAYNE CLARK, age 74, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at STRHS-Winchester, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Thursday in the Foster & Lay Chapel with Reverend Barry Nolan officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials to: Exceptional Enterprises, 23 North Industrial Park Road, Coalmont, Tn 37313. Funeral arrangements were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.

LAWSON, MR. PHILLIP A., age 57, of Coalmont, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Erlanger Hospital. Funeral service were held Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Foster & Lay Chapel with Brother Bobby Winton and Brother Joe Nunley officiating. Burial was in the Orange Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.

GRIFFITH, MRS. MARJORIE, 69, died Tuesday November 15, 2016 at a Winchester, Tennessee Nursing Home. She was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on January 13, 1947 to Herschel and Ethel Vaugh Grimes who preceded her in death along with her husband, Larry Griffith; brothers, Charles and Lee Grimes; infant brother, Carl Ray Grimes. She attended the Mount Etta Freewill Baptist Church and served as the pianist up until her health declined. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Billy) Smith; sons, Larry (Kathleen) Griffith Jr., Billy Ray Griffith, Rodney (Teresa) Griffith, Ralph Griffith; sisters, Irene (Terry) Campbell, Mae Ellen (Grady) Lemons and Carolyn (Darwin) Shipley; brothers, Earl (Brenda), Joe (Charlotte), William (Connie), Benny (Bobbie) and Wayne Grimes; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Carol Grimes. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Albert Nunley officiating with burial to follow in the Burkett’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.

FULTS, MR. BOYD, 71, died unexpectedly Saturday November 12, 2016. He was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on July 30, 1945 to Wesley and Parthenia McHone Fults who preceded him in death along with his brother, Paul Fults. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda VanHoosier Fults; daughter, Vicky Fults; son, Dewayne (Kristi) Fults; grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer) Fults, Cameron Layne, Katie Fults and Bethany Fults and fiancee Justin Meeks; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Zella (Horace Ray) Slatton, Linda Jones and Barbara King; brothers, Melvin (Faye), Hoyt (Amy) and David (Charlotte) Fults; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Mack Hampton officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.

NORWOOD, MR. DONALD, (May 10, 1965 – November 12, 2016), age 51 of Monteagle passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at his home. He was a son of the late Wilburn Cullen Norwood and Shirley Carter Norwood. Don had worked for several years in the heating & air service and installation. Survivors include his sons, Joshua Wade and Jacob Lynn Norwood both of Manchester; sisters, Gail Gower and Freda Davenport; grandson, Braxton James Norwood. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday 12:00 noon – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery.
