SAVAGE, MRS. DOROTHY MAE BROWN, 93, 1922 – 2016, of Palmer, entered into Heaven on Monday, May 2, 2016, in Smyrna, Tennessee under the care of The Arbors and Gentevia Hospice Care. Mrs. Savage was born on September 27, 1922 to the late George W and Nora Dent Brown. She was a homemaker, a Sunday school teacher, Nazarene Missionary President, Family and Consumer Education Club Member and CNA. She loved gardening and growing her many beautiful flowers. She married
the late Nelmon Savage on 01/02/1943 and together they owned the Savage Farm and Nursery in Palmer, Tennessee. They worked beside each other for more than 50 years. Mrs. Savage was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Palmer, Tennessee. She was a kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Nothing made her happier than when her family were all with her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Nelmon O. Savage in 1998. Six brothers, Oscar, Elmer, Leo, Delbert, Charles, and Frank Brown. Her twin sister Dora Mae, and her younger sister Margie Brown. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her two daughters and their families, Patricia Ann (Bob) Creighton of Murfreesboro, TN, and Nelda Carol (Ray) Gomer of Palmer, TN. Five grandchildren, Melissa Creighton (Andy) Hatcher of Lebanon, TN; Amy Creighton (Neil) Stokes of Green Cove Springs, FL; Cary (SarahBeth) Gomer of Palmer, TN; Laurie Gomer of Old Hickory, TN; and Emily Gomer (Cliff) Hinson of Richmond, VA. Nine great-grandchildren: Jordan and Bobby Hatcher, Ashley and Aiden Stokes, Cullen, Clay, Casey, Caleb and Catie Gomer, and Carter Hinson. Three great step-grandchildren, Kaytlynn, Cegan, and Kyra Hinson. Funeral services were held Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Lynn Casseday and Cary Gomer officiating. Burial followed in the Fall Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
CHANDLER, MRS. SAMANTHA KATHLEEN, 26, (1989 – 2016) of Gruetli – Laager, passed away tragically Sunday May 1, 2016. She was born in Dalton, Georgia on September 8, 1989 and was employed at Tag Plastics in Tracy City and was a graduate of Grundy County High School. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Chester Donlow Kirtland Sr. She is survived by her son, Kyle James Chandler; parents, Chester "Donnie" and Melinda Kirtland; sisters, Nina (Adam) McGee and Miranda (Isaac) Scott; grandparents, William Bill and Linda Millsaps and Arlene Kirtland. HENLEY, MR. BORIS STEPHEN
(January 5, 1961 - May 4, 2016), age 55, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian. Survivors include his companion wife Heidi Johnson; children, Samuel Henley, Crystal Henley, and Mary McBee; brothers, Ray Henley, Mickey (Emma) Henley; Richard (Terry) Henley; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Sewanee, a daughter of the late Claude and Irene Long Young, and was preceded in death by her husband, Leesul Yates; granddaughter, Karen Bailey; an infant child; sister, Gail Lappin. TAYLOR, MS AMERICA EDNA, 95, of Palmer, passed away Friday April 29, 2016 at NCH Nursing Home in McMinnville, Tennessee. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on May 15, 1920 to Francis Marion and Margaret Lear Bess Taylor who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Laura Rains, Bessie Nunley, Mable Jenkins and Rosie Jarrett; brothers, Everett, Emmory, Corbett and Ivory Taylor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee. She is survived by several nieces and nephews along with her caregiver and nephew, Francis Nunley of McMinnville. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stanley Northcutt; parents, Will and Thursa Hamby Payne; 3 sisters, Goldie Johnson, Damie Wimberley and Florence Trussell; brother, Johnny Payne. Her favorite pastime was planting and working in her garden and quilting. BRADFORD, MR. QUINTION EUGENE, JR., 51, of the Cumberland Heights Community, passed away Friday April 15, 2016 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on February 22, 1965. He was a welder at Valmont Industries in Jasper, Tennessee until his health declined. He was preceded in death by his father, Quinton E. Bradford Sr. He is survived by his fiancée, Crystal A. Layne; mother, Zada Elizabeth Bouldin Bradford; daughters, Lacy Jade Bradford and Jordan Page (Kurt) Brewer; step-daughters, Micah Worley and Christan (Ethan) Dykes; sisters, Bitha Dill and Donna Mitchell; brothers, Avery Michael Dill and Joel Alan Dill; grandchildren, Kaden Nichols, Kolt Brewer and Kirtlynn Brewer; loving nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Emmette and Ida Brown Cunningham and is preceded in death by his wife Minnie Cunningham, brothers Charles, Kennerly, and Jewel Cunningham. Survivors include his children, Debbie (Thomas) Measles of McMinnville, TN, Erica Miller of Tracy City, TN, Patricia (Jack) Reynolds of Miami, FL, Roger Cunningham of Woodbury, TN, former son-in-law Lee Miller of Tracy City, TN; grandchildren, Robbie, Levi, and Cecilee Miller all of Tracy City, TN, Amber (Richey) Woodlee of McMinnville, TN, Renea (Damon) Woodlee of McMinnville, TN, Patrick (Jenn) Cunningham of Davie, FL, Tristan and Wesley Cunningham of Woodbury, TN; 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 nephews. Cecil was a member of the Myers Hill Congregational Methodist church, and was a World War II U. S. Air Force veteran. GARNER, MR. WILLIAM CLARENCE, 1928 - 2016, of Bells Cove near Pelham, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at his home. Mr. Garner was born in Decherd, a son of the late Oscar Sumner Garner and Lucinda Long Garner. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Luther Boyle Garner, Oscar Herman Garner, Roy Estill Garner, Redus and Reynolds Garner; sisters, Zula Mae Hill, Roberta Myers and Evelyn Garner. Mr. Garner was an active member of the Church of Christ at Pelham and had been a farmer all of his life. Survivors include his wife, Faye M. Garner; son, Dennis C. (Vickie) Garner of Pelham; Marcia Garner Rice (Richard) of Nashville; grandson, Matthew Garner; great-grandsons, Taylor Arce and Lane Clarence Garner; sister, Augusta Crownover of Decherd.
