ROBERTS, MISS MARY BETTY JUNE, age 77, of McMinnville, passed away Monday March 28, 2016 at the NHC Nursing Home in McMinnville with her family at her bedside. She was born in Gross Cove in Grundy County to Lewis and Tennie Bouldin Roberts who preceded her in death along with her sister, Lena Mae Roberts; brother, Lewis Gordon Roberts, Jr. She was a member of the Church of Christ at West End in McMinnville and had attended the Church of Christ at Altamont and was a resident of Altamont until her health declined. She is survived by her sister, Patricia and her husband Gerald Austin, McMinnville; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services was held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Mountain View cemetery in McMinnville with Elder Johnny Dickerson officiating. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.

BRYANT, MR. WILLIAM “HOUSTON” BRYANT, 1940 – 2016, age 75, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 with his family by his bedside. He was born in Pryor Ridge, Tennessee on November 12, 1940 to Jesse Lawrence, Sr. and Ethel Bryant who preceded him in death along with his son, Timothy Bryant; brothers, Leon, Lawrence Jr., J. C., Elmer, W. R. ; sister, Hazel Dunn. He was a member of the Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Ruth Nunley Bryant; son, Marty Bryant (Elizabeth) ; daughter, Linda Meeks (Kendall) ; sisters, Lucille Parker, Chattanooga, TN; Bea Lovingood, Chattanooga, TN, Una Mae Hearn, Batesville, MS; one grandchild, Baylor Bryant; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church with Reverend John Potts and Charles Tipton officiating. Burial was in the Pryor Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN

COWAN, DR. MICHAEL LELAND, SR., DDS, 1948 – 2016, age 67, of Hixson, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, March 26, 2016. He was born May 23, 1948 in Atlanta, Ga. Mike was the son of Leland and Francis Cowan and brother of Carol Goodwin, David Cowan, and Chris Cowan. He grew up in Chattanooga, TN and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Notre Dame High School, where he excelled academically and athletically. He went to Middle Tennessee State University where he played football. After graduation from MTSU, Mike joined the United States Army and achieved the rank of Captain. After his military service, he attended dental school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Upon graduation from dental school, Mike opened a practice in Tracey City, TN, where he served the community for over two decades. In 2002 Mike sold his practice and returned home to Chattanooga, where he worked as a dentist for the county health department until his retirement in January 2016. Mike was a devoted son, loyal brother, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was a respected professional and a loved family member. He was predeceased by his father Leland Cowan, his brother Chris Cowan, and his grandson Colton Shero. He is survived by his mother Francis Cowan, his sister Carol Goodwin, his brother David Cowan, his daughters Lacey Cowan and Erin Shero, his son Michael Cowan, his grandchildren Laurel Carter, Savanah Carter, Lauren Rumba, Mattie Rumba, Jon Johnson, Scout Carter, Tristen Carter, Stan Shero, Walker Cowan and Leland Cowan, and his loving wife Marsha Cowan. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, March 29, at North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 501 S. Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412, with Father Jim Vick and Dr. Ken Duggan officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, Hixson

BORN, MRS. VIRGIL MARIE, 1931 - 2016, 84, of Gruetli – Laager, passed away at her home Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 27, 1931 to Virgil Franklin and Rena Belle Higgins Green who preceded her in death along with her husband, Leonard Melvin "Snood" Borne; sister, Carrie Borne; great grandson, Sydney Borne. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Danny) Green; sons, Gary and Lorne Borne; brother, Bobby Loyd (Perky) Green; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; Uncle, Kelly (Patsy) Higgins. Funeral services were held Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clayton Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Burkett's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

Paul Richard Green
GREEN, MR. PAUL RICHARD, 1935 - 2016, age 80, Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Manchester Health Care Center, Manchester, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rosie Shrum Green; brother, Bob Green; sister, Betty Singleton. Survivors include his brother, Eugene Green (Faye), Manchester, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Louise Green, Tracy City, Tennessee; Peggy Winton (Steve), Troy, Alabama; nephews, Tim Seals, Ricky Seals, Earl Green, David Green, Brad Green, Eric Green, and LaVaughn Green; niece, Rhonda Lynn Hiett, Katie Winton and Cameron Winton; special friend, Barbara King. Funeral services were held Friday, March 18, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Steve Winton officiating. Burial followed in the Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.

NUNLEY, MR. ROBERT G., 55, passed away in Alabama on Feb 29, 2016 of a massive heart attack. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Lena Pavlak Nunley; brother, John L. Nunley. Survivors include his father, William L. Nunley; sisters, Stella Pavlak, Helene Poling and Brenda Hoffman. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Sonya Dee Sanders
(May 16, 1971 – March 20, 2016), (age 44, Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center, Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Margie Layne; sons, Harley Sanders, Alexander Grant Sanders; daughter, Gretchen; brother, Marvin Layne; sister, Teresa King. Survivor include her Companion-fiance, Jeremy Sanders; sons, Blake (Vanessa) Sanders, Ethan Wayne Sanders, Levi Quade Sanders; brothers, Linden Layne, Thomas, Layne; sisters, Cindy Borne, Rosie Anderson . Graveside service will be held 1:00 on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the King cemetery in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee with Minister Leslie Sanders officiating. STEVENS, MR. HENRY TAYLOR,
(December 13, 1926 - March 18, 2016),
age 89, of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System in Sewanee, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Ethel Crowe Stevens, brother, Edward “Toopie” Stevens; son, Sam Stevens; grandson, Josh Stevens. He is survived by his children, Susan Williams, Jennifer (Daryll) Smiley, Denise Hill, Troy Stevens; brothers, Carl Stevens and Frank Stevens; sister, Pauline McCanless; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday at Monteagle First Baptist Church with Dr. Daryll Smiley officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Ave., Monteagle, Tennessee.

age 80, Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Manchester Health Care Center, Manchester, Tennessee. RIEDER, MRS. GEORGIA FAY GARNER, age 94, of Pelham, Tennessee, passed away Sunday morning, March 13, 2016, at her home. She was born in Franklin County, a daughter of the late Lou Allen Garner and Mary Catherine Hayes Garner and was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd H. Rieder; grandson, Mark L. Mayes; sisters, Reba Baker and Gertrude Gipson; brothers, Eugene, Dewey and Jim Hayes Garner. Mrs. Rieder was a faithful member of The Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Mayes, Sandra (Fred) Hale both of Tracy City; grandchildren, Kenneth R. Mayes, Melinda Harrub, Ben Hale and Beth Myers; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family wants to give a special thanks to Mrs. Rieder's caregivers, Linda Smith, Brooke Kilgore, Jane Hill, Kim Meeks, Bonnie Bodine, Faye Henley and Kay and also to East Tennessee Hospice. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ray Winton and Ben Hale officiating. Burial will be in Warren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Hale, Ken Mayes, Bill Rieder, Tim Rieder, Sam Myers, Jay Myers, Clinton Myers and Brad Harrub. Arrangements were provided by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, TN.

ADAMS, MR. AARON MATTHEW, age 43, of Coalmont, passed away on Saturday March 12, surrounded by family and friends. Aaron worked at Arnold Engineering Development Complex and loved to work on cars, motorcycles and be outdoors. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Hercehel Anderson and Verna Coppinger, his adoptive parents, Alfred and Myrtis Adams and sister Patricia Adams. Aaron is survived by father, Larry Anderson (Debra) ; mother, Anna Lydette O'Dear Hardbarger (Dwain) ; sons, Aaron Glen and Aalex Adams; brothers, Larry Anderson Jr., Anthony Anderson, Matthew Anderson (Amy), Jacky Hardbarger (Marlina), Joseph Hardbarger (Kristie) ; uncle, Jimmy O'Dear (Brenda) ; sisters, Fran Adams and Karon Barrett (Dal) ; cousins, Tracy Hodges (Dave), Jamey O'Dear, Daniel O'Dear (Christy) and Kelly Barrett; girlfriend, Ashley Colvin as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Dal Barrett and Jacky Hardbarger officiating. Burial will be in Coalmont Cemetery.
