BRYANT, MR. JERRY WILLIAM, (1959 – 2016), age 56, of Tracy City, away Friday evening, January 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his family, after a hard fought battle with cancer for over three years. Jerry retired from Signal Mountain Cement after 30 years of service. He was a member of Tracy City First United Methodist Church, he was strong in his faith and belief in God; he was a loving husband, father and Papa; he enjoyed sports, weight lifting, cooking, fishing, yard work and vacations with his family. Jerry was an accomplished football player for Grundy County High School, he continue to hold many records in rushing yards and points scored for season and career. He was a mentor to many young athletes in the community. Jerry always gave one hundred percent in every aspect of his life including his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. R. Bryant and Faye Anderson Bryant; brother, Chris Bryant; father-in-law, "Buck" Sanders. Survivors include his wife, Dorie Bryant; sons, Nick and his wife, Rachel, Justin and his wife, Blair; grandchildren, Vincent and Kaleigh Bryant, Kellen and Jalen Bryant; sisters, Sherrie and Kathy Bryant; brothers, Sammy and Troy (Cindy) Bryant; mother-in-law, Dot Sanders; sister-in-laws, Jonny Rose and James "Bubbe" Conry, Charlotte and Johnny McGuire, Sarah and Darrell Brown; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at Tracy City First United Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial followed in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.
DENT, MR. SCOTTY W., (1970 – 2016), age 45, of Palmer, passed away, Friday January 14, 2016 at his home. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on April 6, 1970. He was preceded in death by his father, J. D. Dent; brother, Sam Dent. He is survived by his mother, Faye Dent Hoosier; companion, Joanie Green; son, Hunter Keith; brothers, Tim (Phyllis) Dent, Troy (Lisa) Dent, Jeff (Tiffany) Dent; sisters, Pam (Gene) Caldwell, Deb (Jimmy) Meeks, Lisa (Andy) Morrison and Tammy Cleek; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Minster Brett Meeks officiating. Burial followed in the Palmer City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
FOSTER, MRS. BETTYE JEAN, (1926 – 2016), age 89, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 in a local hospital after a very short illness. Mrs. Foster was associated with Foster & Son Funeral Home from 1949-2001 and affiliated with Foster & Lay Funeral Home from 2001 until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hill Foster; parents, Jennings Raht and Anna V. Roddy Charles; sisters, Billie Parson and Mary Sue Arbuckle and a great-nephew, Derrick Arbuckle. Survivors include her son, Robert H. Foster, Jr. (Leda), Tracy City, TN; grandchildren, Robbie (Leigh) Foster, Murfreesboro, TN, Hollie (Ron) Bailey, Winchester, TN; great grandchildren, Andrew and Will Foster, Murfreesboro, TN and Emily Bailey, Winchester, TN. ANDERSON, MR. JAMES HENRY “ JIM” Mr. James Henry Anderson "Jim - Q Ball", age 68 of Hillsboro, Tennessee, passed away on December 31, 2015 at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The funeral service was conducted on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 12 P.M. at Central Funeral Home. The burial followed at the Plainview cemetery in Tracy City, Tennessee with U. S. WILLIAM, MR. AUSTIN LEWIS, (1938 – 2016), age 77, of Palmer, passed away Monday January 4, 2016 at Sewanee, Tennessee. He was born in Crossville, Tennessee on July 29, 1938 and was a US Navy veteran. MORRISON, MRS. NELLIE D., (1927 – 2015), age 88, of Gruetli – Laager, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at NHC in Dunlap. She attended the House of the Lord Church in Palmer. She was born December 16, 1927. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha D. Brown Tate; husband, Alfred Morrison, Jr. ; sons, Ricky "Chigger" and William Morrison; grandson, Shane Morrison; granddaughter, Melanie Morrison; sister, Anna Ruth Crisp. She is survived by her sons, David, Johnny, Jimmy and Byron Morrison; daughters, Vickie Cheston, Gainesville, FL, Adeline Morrison, Deborah Roberts, Rebecca Morrison, Rossville, GA and Donna Gail Wilson; half-brothers, Carl "Tubby", Charlie Tate and Wayne Frisbee; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Carl David Burnette age 55 of Pelham, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Services in Winchester. He was preceded in death by his father, J. D. Burnette. Survivors include his wife, Kim Burnette; children, Billie Faye Burnette (Kevin Brady), Hershell Lee Burnette, John Hunter Burnette, Ashley Brinkley, step-son, Juan Luc Paul Rinck; mother, Flona Lee Burnette; sister, Jackie Morris (Elivie George) ; grandchildren, Miriam Brady, Joshua Burnette, Colin Brady and Brianna Brinkley. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on June 14, 1923 to William Carroll and Lila Jane Smith King who preceded her in death along with her husband, Murphy David Rankin; sisters, Lillie Crow, Maude Reed and Ruth King Curtis; brothers, Henry Reed, George, Lewis and Elzie King; grandson, Darren Christopher Finch. Mrs. Christine Louise Campbell, age 74, of Palmer, went to be with her Lord at her home, Tuesday January 5, 2016 with her family at her bedside. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on April 13, 1941 to Henry and Myrtle Layne Sanders who preceded her in death along with her husband, Kenley Campbell; sister, Hallie Ramsey; grand-daughter, Jessica Gipson; grandson, Cody Bowman; infant siblings, Robert Earl and Estill Gene. She is survived by her daughter, Regina (Mike) Scott; sons, Gerald (Amanda) Campbell and Marty Campbell; sisters, Doris Pickett and Lulabell Morrison Nunley; brother, Mitchell (Glenda) Sanders; grandchildren, Brittany, Timothy, Dylan, Megan and Tanner; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Shaleigh, Tregon, Journey and Malachi; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gary Manuel Wideman, age 72, of Palmer, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born in Nauvoo, AL to Manuel H. Wideman and Margert Andrews Blaylock who preceded him in death along with his sister, Carma Nell Flynn; brother, Horace W. Wideman.
He is survived by his sons, Adam and wife Candy Wideman, Coosbay, OR, Shayne and wife, Dawn Wideman, Klamath Falls, OR and Joshua Manuel Wideman, Noti, OR; Amanda Wideman and friend Richard Neuharth, Coosbay, OR; sister, Carolyn (Ed) Anderson, Palmer, TN; brother, Kevin Wideman, Nauvoo, AL; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
