SANDERS, MRS. BETTY JEAN, age 79, of Coalmont, passed away Tuesday November 10, 2015 from injuries she received from a fall. She was a member of the Mount Ararat Cumberland Methodist Church. She was born in Tracy City on January 22, 1936 to Raymond and Jessie Graham King who preceded her in death along with her husband Jessie Houston Sanders; brothers, George and Charles King.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Brenda) Sanders, Coalmont; daughter, Joyce (Robert) Henn, Monteagle; brothers, William and Kenneth King of California; grandchildren, Keith, Matthew, Ashley and Bobby; great grandchildren, Will, Xander and Tanner; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services were held Friday at the Orange Hill cemetery with Bro. Leslie Sanders officiating. Arrangements were provided by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
CARRICK, MRS. PATRICIA LAMBERT “PATSY”, age 79, of Kingsport, died Saturday, November 7, 2015 unexpectedly at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Hickory, North Carolina, and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. Patsy was a graduate of Knox Central High School, and a 1958 graduate of East Tennessee State University. She retired from Sullivan County School System in 1986 after teaching 6th grade at Colonial Heights Middle School for many years. Patsy was an avid bridge and mahjong player. She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Punta Gorda, Florida, but especially loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ginger Lambert. Patsy is survived by her husband, Herman E. Carrick, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Ginger Carrick Curlee and husband Bill, of Cary, North Carolina; two sons, Herman E. Carrick, Jr., and wife Janet, of Blountville, Gene Carrick and wife Karen, of Gray; eight grandchildren, Nicki Salyer and husband David, Lee Carrick, Benjamin Carrick, Elizabeth Carrick, Anna Grace Carrick, Abby Carrick, Mitch Curlee, and Will Curlee; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Emily Salyer; sisters, Peggy McCord and husband Keith, Sr. of Maryville, and Janie Hall and husband Kenneth, of Knoxville; brother, Johnny Lambert and wife Peggy, of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Dottie Edmonds and husband John, of Sparta, Edith Nunley and husband Jody, of Estill Springs, Tennessee; and Nelda Stiefel and husband Keith of Tracy City.
The funeral service was held Tuesday with Rev. Lloyd J. Jones and Rev. Susan Langford officiating. A graveside service was conducted on Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. CAUSEY, MRS. ROSE H., age 85, of Monteagle, Tennessee, died October 21, 2015 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, TN. She was born March 25, 1930 in Marthaville, Louisiana to A. H. and Elma Tyler Hayes. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tracy City, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, John W. Causey, two brothers, Glenn Hayes and Herman Hayes and a sister, Mildred Lonon. She is survived by four daughters: Debra (Thomas) Kandul of Monteagle, Tennessee, Susan (Dan) Chitwood of Louisville, Kentucky, Kathy Kinnaird of Louisville, Kentucky and Amy (Wes) Sights of Henderson, Kentucky, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was a son of the late Andy Dykes and Hallie Sanders Dykes and was preceded in death by his son, Elton Dykes; brothers, Clifford, Lonnie and Alf; sisters, Elsie and Edna. CAMPBELL, VANCE “TOBY”, age 65, of Spring City, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home. A longtime resident of Spring City, Toby was the son of the late Brosie and Mary Lillian Nunley Campbell. He was a self-employed truck driver and retired from the transportation industry. All who knew Toby saw that he worked hard his entire life; was good to everyone who met him and would help anyone who needed a helping hand. All should take comfort in knowing that he fought a hard battle against leukemia before going home to his Savior. Toby was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Spring City. He was preceded in death by his brothers Earl Campbell and Steve Campbell. Toby leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Faye Garrett Campbell, Spring City, Vanessa (Mark) Holsomback, Spring City, grandchildren Tanner Holsomback, Spring City and Amber Ivey, Knoxville, sister Shirley (James) Seagroves, Tracy City, brothers William Ray (Marsha) Campbell, Gruetli-Laager, TN and Larry (Beverly) Campbell of Tracy City, TN. He is also survived by several sister-in-law's that were like sisters to him, Kathy (Robert) Annis, Knoxville, Mary Monday, Pell City, AL, and Anna (Bob) Jones, Norfolk, Virginia and several brother-in-law's Gardner (Cathy) Garrett, Tommy and Clyde Garrett all of Spring City and David (Ellen) Garrett of Georgiana, AL, and several nieces and nephews that loved him greatly. CRISP, MR. WILLARD LEON, age 90, passed from this life October 23, 2015, at Southern TN Medical Center in Winchester, TN. He was born November 30, 1924, in Wolfpit, KY, to Thomas and Lizzie (Nunley) Crisp who proceeded him on death along with his brothers Clifford, Ralph, Stanley, Tommy, Raymond, Alayn and Franklin Crisp, sister Elsie Hope, grandchildren Chris Haynes, Jamey Meeks, Rhonda Fults, Jeremy Meeks, Christy Meeks, Natalie Martin, great grandchildren Whitney Gipson and Joshua Hampton.
He was a retired coal miner and Minister, where he pastored several churches in Grundy and Marion Counties. He married
Hazel Kilgore and together raised 14 children. FINCH, MR. HERSCHEL, JR., age 86, of Gruetli-Laager, passed away Friday October 16, 2015 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on October 14, 1929 to Herschel and Ruby Gifford Finch who preceded him in death along with his sister, Jimmie Ruth "Boots" Nunley. He was retired from the US Navy and was veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a devoted husband who labored to supply the needs of his wife of 61 years and his children who loved and honored him. He is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Tate Finch; sons, Herschel (Kathryn) Finch III, Jacksonville, Florida and John W. Finch, Coalmont; brother, Larry Finch, Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Betty Bush Green, Bonnie (Gene) Layne and Anita Crabtree; grandchildren, Brandy Jewell, Herschel Finch IV, Diana Kathryn and John Jacob Finch; 3 great grandchildren, Dakota Mason, Autumn Brooke and Emma Grace Finch; numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 21, 1927 to Will and Rosa Caldwell Bone who preceded her in death along with her husband, Alfred "Buddy" Nolan; brother, Tillman Bone; infant brother, Lloyd Bone; sisters, Almeda Meeks, Mildred Smartt, Esther Magouirk, Mable Worley, Louise Cox and Nellie Finch.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosa (Keith) Sanders of Monteagle and Karen (David) Burnett, Gruetli-Laager; sons, Randal Nolan, Chattanooga, David (Tammy) Soddy-Daisey and Lyndel (Rita) Nolan of Albertville, Alabama; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. THOMPSON, MR. BOBBIE, FRANKLIN, age 87, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, TN. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He worked on the Eastern Test Range from 1956-1993, first for Pan American World Airways and then Computer Sciences Raytheon, until his retirement in 1993. He was the son of the late Frank and Lula Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother David Thompson. He is survived by his wife Susan Thompson, son Bryan (Laura) Thompson of Winchester, a brother Jack Thompson, a sister Ann Thompson, and three grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 12PM, Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Foster & Lay Funeral Home in Tracy City, TN. A Memorial Service will begin at 2PM, with Brother Don Jones officiating.
