MEEKS, PHILLIP DOUGLAS, age 67, of the Flat Branch Community passed away Friday, October 10, 2014. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on August 26, 1947 to Jessie and Henretta Campbell Meeks who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Franklin and Benton Meeks; niece, Joy Hall; nephews, Jesse, William and John Meeks, Tim Hall. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith Anderson Meeks; daughters, Joan Chapman, Tracy City, Melisa “Sissy” (Michael) Caldwell, Coalmont, Phyllis C. Meeks, Tracy City; son, David Douglas Meeks, Tracy City; 6 grandchildren, Jonathan (Fiancé’ Heather Grayson) Chapman, Amber (Fiancé’ James Worley) Morgan, Robin (Zach) Seagroves, Heather (Fiancé’ Dustin Luzadder) Caldwell, Jacob Chapman, George Arthur Bolton III; great granddaughter, Kaylie Worley; sisters, Willie Mae Nunley and Carlene (Bill) Wilusz; brothers, Charles (Margie) Meeks and Paul Meeks; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Andy Lockhart and Sheriff Clint Shrum officiating. Burial followed in the Clouse Hill Cemetery. KANIA, PAUL KANIA, age 51, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. Paul was employed in industrial sales. He was born in Royal Oak, Michigan and was preceded in death by his father, Ralph R. Kania; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Evelyn Burnett. Survivors include his children, Steven Paul Kania of White House, TN and Becky Kania of Nashville; mother, Bette Kania of Tracy City; sister, Lisa Kania of Tracy City; brother, Mike Kania of White House; nieces and nephew, Jordan Rice, Jessica White, Casey and Tyler Kania. A memorial service was held Saturday in the chapel of Foster & Lay Funeral Home with Reverend Clayton Jones officiating. Cremation services were provided by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, TN.
Ulysses Grant Brown, Jr.
(July 26, 1932 - October 6, 2014)
Mr. Ulysses Grant Brown, Jr. age 82 passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home in Pelham. He was a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather, he loved watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball.
He was a son of the late Ulysses G. Brown and Miriam Lautzenheiser Brown and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Smith Brown; brothers, Carl, Paul and Hershel Brown; son-in-law, Ray Patterson; daughter-in-law, Ellen Brown; grandson, Richard Brown; great-grandson, Ty Brown.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda Patterson; sons, Stan, Pete, Bobby and Charlie Brown all of Pelham; sisters, Flona Burnett, Pelham, Lotus Douglas, Tullahoma, Faye Woodall, Oak Grove; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Troy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Warren cemetery with Travis Ashley, Justin Kilgore, Chad Hill, Wade Brown, Mackie Sanders, Barry Henderson and Kevin Woodall serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ronald Joseph Dunn, U. S. Veteran
(February 18, 1949 - October 2, 2014)
Ronald Joseph Dunn age 65 of Tracy City passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at his home with his family by his bedside. He was a native of New Albany, Indiana and was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee Dunn and Evora McClellan Dunn; brothers, Don, Dean, Raymond, Glenn and Paul Dunn.
Ronald was a retired factory worker and was a U. S. Army veteran and was wounded in Viet Nam and was permanently disabled. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans (D. A. V.)
Survivors include his wife, Laura Jean Dunn; son, Daniel Landon, New Albany, IN; daughters, Lella Ray (Jeff) Turner, Rock Island, TN, Dana Owen, Tracy Cty, Leslie Taylor, Tracy City; brothers, Vernon Dunn, Otisco, IN, Arnold Dunn, Sellersburg, IN, Bobby Ray Dunn, Jeffersonville, IN, Larry (Billie) Dunn, Nashville, Jerry Dunn, Nashville; very special brother-in-law, Neal (Debbie) Houghlin; grandchildren, Tabitha Roeder, D. J. Taylor, Nikolas Owen, Matthew Landon, Sebastian Landon; great-grandson, Timothy Roeder; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Michael Gass officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Plainview Cemetery.

Paul Edward King
(March 12, 1939 - October 2, 2014)
Mr. Paul Edward King age 75 of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, in Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Elizabeth Dishroon King; sister, Doris King; brother, Bobby Jack King.
Paul was a retired pipe fitter and had worked at T. V. A. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of Myers Hill Church, Sewanee Lodge # 495 F. & A. M., pipe fitters local #43. Survivors include his wife, Patsy King; children, Michael (Marilyn) King, Karin (David) Brawley, Monica (Dusty) Hardin; sisters, Brenda Martin and Judy Faye King; grandchildren, Cassandra, Lorin, Taylor, Avery and Hallie; great-grandchildren, Carly and Axton. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Dennis Rollins and Reverend Johnny Gipson officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. A Masonic service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.

Christopher Michael Paulk
(October 24, 1987 - September 29, 2014)
In memory of Christopher Michael Paulk he was born October 24, 1987 in Pensacola, Florida. He left this life unexpectedly on September 29, 2014.
He was a loving, son, brother, father, and grandson. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ray Paulk and James White. He leaves behind his mother, Melissa White (James Cartwright) ; father, Michael Paulk (Sheila) ; fiancé, Nicole Haynes; brothers, Curtis, Jacob and Brandon; sisters, Caitlyn, Chyanne, Dana Rae, Brittany L., Pamela, Brittany M., Bre, and Jessica; his three beautiful girls, Emma, Mackenzie (Stephanie) and Addison; grandmothers, Violet and Joan; aunt, Teresa; uncle, Jimmie and extended family.
Christopher was an amazing son, loving, friendly and kind. An exceptional father and caring friend, he never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He made his home in Tracy City, Tennessee; his hobbies were his children, hunting and fishing. He was a truck driver with all his heart and soul, a beautiful life taken away too soon. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend John Potts officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. BREWER, CLIFFORD H. “BUCK”, age 84, of Palmer, passed away Saturday September 27, 2014 at the Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer who provided him with loving care. He was born in Palmer on April 13, 1930 to Walter and Dona Cagle Brewer who preceded him in death along with his brother, Grady Brewer; sisters, Ethel Birdwell, Willette Birdwell and Mary E. “Bessie” Bryant; infant son, Howell Lee Brewer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Catherine “Cat” Coffelt Brewer who has lovingly cared for him without complaint for the last 8 years; daughters, Audrey (Tim) Shrum; sons, Melvin (Ann) Brewer, Mitchell Brewer; sisters, Leona Creighton, Amy Lou Weaver, Tressie Mae “Cotton” Cleek, Jewell Curtis and Grace (George) Farris; grandchildren, Kyle (Christel) Shrum, Kurt (Jordan) Brewer, Heather (Brian) Melton and Devan Brewer; 8 great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews. HILL, JOSEPHINE C., age 83, of Monteagle, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Harton Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker. Preceding her in death were her parents, Howard and Elizabeth Cox; husband, Joe Lannie Hill; daughters, Troyce Ann Hill, Ruby Elizabeth Layne and Freda Jane Layne; brothers, Charles and James Cox; and great-granddaughter, Addison Alexandria Kilgore. She was survived by daughters, Patsy (Ronnie) Foshee of Monteagle, Hassie (Jim) Merrell of Tullahoma; son, Joe (Danette) Hill of Tullahoma; step-daughter, Wanda (Wilbert) Marsh of Estill Springs; sisters, Carolyn (Mike) Gautier of Monteagle and Shirley (Alvin) Dykes of Tracy City; brother, Bobby (Flosilla) Cox of Altamont; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. KING, MARLENE E., age 56, of Beersheba Springs, passed away Thursday September 25, 2014 from injuries she received in an automobile accident. She was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on August 4, 1958 to Glen and Nellie Gladys King who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters, Freda (John) Nolan and Diane (Larry) Smartt; brothers, Frank (LeTease) King and Jimmy King; loving nieces and nephews.
