MORRISON, ROBERT LEE, SR., 79, passed away at his home Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and retired from Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on November 17, 1934 to Lonnie and Ethel Turner Morrison who preceded him in death along with his brother, Sammy, Sonny and Jerry Morrison; sisters, Charlene Cobb, Eula Mae Gardner, Carol Cox and Lynn Morrison. He is survived by his companion, Katherine Delores Hamill; son, Robert L. (Kristen) Morrison Jr. of San Antonio, TX; daughters, Deborah Morrison, Chattanooga, Donna Morrison, Ringgold, GA and Diane Morrison, Tampa, FL; brother, Allen (Linda) Morrison, Gruetli-Laager; sister, Dolly Reed, Clinton, Iowa; several loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, July 3 at the Swiss Colony cemetery with military funeral honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

WEBSTER (GREEN) DORIS, MARIE, age 81, of Monteagle passed from this life to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 28, 2014 with her family by her bedside.
A native of Sanilac, Michigan she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Elsie (Long) Green and was preceded in death by her brothers, William (Bill), Norman (Fat), Avery (Short), Raymond and Jim Green; sons, Darrell, Edward and Preston Webster.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert (Carl) Webster; children, Glenn (Penny) Webster, Whitwell, Donald (Nancy) Stranahan, Michigan, Richard Stranahan, Monteagle, Mary (Edward) Turner, Monteagle, Kenneth (Sharon) Webster, Chattanooga, Stephen (Vickie) Grayson, Monteagle, Diana (Ricky) Hill, Beersheba Springs; sister, Evelyn (Don) Dyer, Michigan; brothers, Lyle (Mary) Green, Michigan and Dick Green of California; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, September 4 at Tracy City First Baptist Church. Reverend Ben Curtis and Rev. Kenneth Webster will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 4-6 P.M. Cremation services provided by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, Tennessee.

CALDWELL, CRAIG ALTON, age42, of Palmer, passed away in a boating accident Saturday August 30, 2014. He was employed by Tri-County Stone and a Member of Westside Baptist Church. He was born in Cumberland Heights on July 19, 1972 and was preceded in death by infant siblings, Rex Allen and Audry Lynn Caldwell; grandparents, Willis and Mary Caldwell, Clay and Edith McDaniel. He is survived by his wife, Crystal Overturf Caldwell; daughter, Savannah Caldwell; sons, Matt, Kyle and Brendon Caldwell, J. P. and Cody Sanders; parents, Alton and Grace McDaniel Caldwell; sister, Crystal (Chad) Stiefel; brothers, Russell (Tiffany) Caldwell and Josh (Crystal) Caldwell; loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobby Payne officiating and burial followed in the Burkett’s Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.

SANDERS, DENNIS RAY, age 53, of Gruetli Laager, passed away Sunday August 31, 2014 at Hospice of Chattanooga. He was born in Whitwell, Tennessee on November 9, 1960. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie A. Sanders; father, Albert Jr. Sanders; sister, Lorita Kay Sanders; brother, Albert Myron Sanders. He is survived by his mother, Helen Sanders; daughter, Rebecca G. Seagroves; son, Jeremy R. Sanders; sisters, Donna (Terry) Nunley, Mildred Borne (Rick Caldwell), Karen (Allan) Henderson; Sandra (Willie) Singleton; brothers, Larry Michael, Rick, Andy and Tommy Sanders; best friend, James Myers; grandsons, Joshua Jr. and Joseph Christina Seagroves; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Barry Nolan officiating and burial followed in the Swiss Colony Cemetery.

SCOTT, KAREN BAILEY, age 36, of Sewanee, TN passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born June 4, 1978 in Miami, Florida and was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Leon Bailey; paternal grandparents, Daisy and Paul Hawkins; maternal grandfather, Leesul Yates. She was a 1996 graduate of Franklin County High School.
Survivors include her husband, Travis Scott; mother, Connie Yates Warner; brother, Mike Reid (Mischelle Emery) ; maternal grandmother, Claudia Yates; niece, Jordan Reid, nephew, Ty Reid. A memorial service was held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Robert Johnson officiating. Cremation services provided by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, TN.

BARKS, PHILLIP HAROLD, age 54, of Altamont, died tragically, Thursday, July 31, 2014 in a house fire at his home. He was employed by Blevins Enterprises in Altamont. He was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on October 30, 1959 to James Ed and Euphemia King Barks who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Campbell Barks; daughter, Miranda l. “Mandy” Barks; sons, Phillip Eugene (Jessica), Dustin Edward Lee (Kaci), Casey Harold (Kayle) and Justin Allen “Pooter” Barks; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Michelle and Carolyn; brothers, Melvin, Darrell (Melissa), Donnie, Frankie, Gerald, Danny, Johnny (Shannon) and Matt (Patricia) Barks; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held August 26, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Don Hill officiating and burial followed in the Whitman-King-Bess Cemetery.

MRS. BRADEN GENEVA EDNA, age 89, passed away Sunday August 24, 2014. She was of the Congregational Methodist Faith. She was born in Tracy City on September 4, 1924 to Elbert Patrick and Ethel Swearengen Patrick who preceded her in death along with her husband, Harley Braden; brother, Frank Patrick; sisters, Johnny Meeks, Ruby Patrick, Ruth Haggard and Hilda Burns; daugthers, Betty L. Nunley, Bonnie D. Coffelt and Connie Braden Poss. She is survived by her son, Billy Joe (Ruth) Braden; daughters, Kathy (Larry) Nunley and Brandy (David) Horton; grandchildren, Russell (Cindy), Steven (Judy), Joey (Eva) Nunley, Lisa (Dave) Sutherland, Melanie Braden Hornbuckle, Billy (Gretchen) Braden, Jim Braden, Anthony (Jennifer) Sweeton, Michelle, Tessa, David (Alicia) Scissom; 34 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Yancy Layne and Freddie Savage officiating and burial followed in the Swiss Colony Cemetery.

James W. Lankford
(May 24, 1935 - August 18, 2014)
Mr. James W. "Bo John" Lankford, Sr. age 79 of Tracy City, Tennessee passed from this life to his Heavenly home early Monday morning with his family and friends by his bedside.
"Bo John" was born in Cheatham County, a son of the late Newton Johnston Lankford and Eunice Estelle Lovelace Lankford, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lewie and Lloyd "Bubba" Lankford.
He and his family moved to Monteagle in the 1960's to work on the interstate highway he was a heavy equipment operator. After the interstate was built over the mountain "Bo John" made Monteagle his home and later moved to Tracy City. He continued to work in the construction business and operated his own business for many years and then worked at the Grundy County Highway Department until he retired. "Bo John" had been active in the Grundy County Rescue Squad. He was a member of the Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Lankford; children, Charles Thomas, Jackie (Laurie) Campbell, Sharon Campbell, Elizabeth (Brandon) Pressley, Kristie (Robert) Tuders and James W. Lankford, II, a nephew, Howard Lewis Lankford whom he had raised and loved as a son; a special niece, Megan O'Neal; sister, Lois June Hatfield; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday at Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church with Reverend Ernest Lockhart officiating. The family ask that memorials be made to Gum Springs Congregational Methodist Church, Handicap Parking Lot Project, P. O. Box 272, Tracy City, Tennessee 37387. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before services. Cremations services were provided by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee.

John Buford Orange
12/25/1959 - 8/18/2014
Altamont - Mr. John Buford Orange, 54, passed away Monday August 18, 2014. He was born December 25, 1959 in Warren County, Tennessee to James and Johnnie Mae Anderson Orange.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan (Sasha) Orange; daughter, Jamie Orange; companion, Constance "Von" Bradford; sisters, Margaret Orange and Susie Meeks; brothers, Ray (Rose), Carl (Elise), Doug (Angelia), William (Treva) and Stephen (Meshon) Orange, Lee Bowers; 6 grandchildren, Cadence, Javyn, Gavin, Bailey, Keira and Khloe.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Coy King officiating with burial to follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.

Violet Campbell
(October 23, 1921 - August 14, 2014)
Mrs. Violet H. Campbell, age 92, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at The Bridge At Monteagle. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley A. Campbell; parents, Ben Sr. and Meddie (Crick) Hampton; son, Bobby Hampton, Sr. ; brothers, Ben Hampton, Jr., Charles Hampton, Jimmy Hampton; sisters, Mozella Parsons, Margaret Priest, Catherine Edger, Edna Mae Fultz, Nellie Hampton, and Pauline Hampton; grandsons, Robert Lee and Johnny Wayne Hampton. Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Rose) Campbell, Charles (Mary) Campbell, and Ronnie (Renee) Campbell; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ernest Lockhart officiating Burial will be in the Hobbs Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-9 P. M Funeral arrangements are made by Foster & Lay Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tennessee (931) 592-3691.
