Bell, Nancy Pauline Elrod “Polly”, 93 years old, went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2007. At the time of her passing, she was at home surrounded by all those who love her so dearly. Her loving husband, who preceded her in death, was Richard Compton Bell, former publisher of the Daily News Journal. Both of them were born in the Lascassas Community and lived their adult lives in Murfreesboro. Her parents, who are deceased, were William Rufus and Willie Elizabeth Elrod. Her son, of whom she was so proud, is Dr. Bryan Bell and his wife Dee of Murfreesboro. Her devoted daughter is Bonnie Bell Manson and her husband Jeff Hopper of Nashville. A very young daughter, Polly Ritchene Bell, passed away in 1936. She loved her grandchildren who were completely devoted to her. They are Richard Compton Bell II (Melanie), Breanna Lee Bell (Melissa Crim) and James Edward Manson, Jr. (Andrea). Mrs. Bell also has five great grandchildren Caroline, Joanna, Victoria, Dylan and Eli to whom she was Grandmother Polly. The family especially wants to thank her loving and gentle caregivers Brenda, Joyce, Dawn, Sherry, Mary and Angela who came to love and care for her as one of their own. Also, Grace Muse, her housekeeper and friend of many years, and Mary Pockat, her dear neighbor. The family also wants to thank Father John Oliver, a man of God who appeared in her hour of need and the amazing nurses, Judy and Tina, of Alive Hospice. Memorials in Mrs. Bell’s memory may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203-9658. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday night at the funeral home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Father John Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Koehler, Fred age 73 of Murfreesboro died Friday June 29, 2007 at his home. Funeral services Monday 1 pm, Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Gregg Dunn officiating. Interment Mapleview cemetery. Visitation with the Family Sunday 3 - 8 pm in the chapel. A native of Farmington WVA, Mr. Koehler was the son of the late Ira and Amma Hall Koehler. He is survived by sons, Stephen (Georgeanne) Koehler of Smyrna and David (Nikki) Koehler of Wartrace, grandson, Anthony Koehler of Murfreesboro, and special friend and dance partner, Clara Chesebro of Nashville. He attended Cane Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church, was an Airforce veteran, retired from GE, and worked as a satellite technician and computer programmer.
