Carter, Mrs. Ola Mae Parker age 88, of Smyrna, Tn. died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Baptist DeKalb Hospital, Smithville, Tn. Funeral services Saturday 10 am, Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Mike Eady officiating. Visitation with the family Friday 4-8 pm. Interment Mapleview Cemetery. She was born in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late Delbert Lee & Jessie Bodily Parker. She is survived by sister, Bessie Marie Accomando, Smyrna; grandchildren, Diane Logsdon, Smyrna, Robert Hackney, Smyrna and Sharon Deal, Dowelltown, two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Carter was married to the late Johnny Hugh Carter. She was a member of Stewart’s Creek Church of Christ.
Brown, Doris Ann Lane age 60 of Smyrna died Friday August 10, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services Monday 10 am, Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Merwin officiating, burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family Saturday 2-8 pm, Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, and Sunday 2 pm, Gallimore Funeral Home in Gleason. Ann had a zest for life and dearly loved her God, family, friends, job, and living life to its fullest. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jimmy Brown, caring mother, Doris Lane of Gleason, TN, five children, Danny (Barbara) Lipps, Tony Brown, Debbie (Allen) Merritt, Peggy (Scott) Zdeb, Debbie McDonald, and brother John (Patty) Lane, Jr., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father John Lane, Sr. Mrs. Brown was a member of River of Life Church in Smyrna and had worked for Nissan.
Robertson, Mrs. Nell Sims age 92, of Murfreesboro died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Funeral services Wednesday 10:30 am Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bud Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Tuesday 4-8 pm in the chapel. She was born in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late DeWitt & Bennie Mae Taylor Sims. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, James A. Robertson, Jr. & Ruth Ann of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Trisha (Gary) Robertson Griscott and Robert Anthony Robertson of Murfreesboro; brother, Harry D. Sims and a sister, Evelyn Sims of Murfreesboro. Mrs. Robertson was married to the late James A. Robertson, Sr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Sims and her sisters, Hazel Turrentine and Mary Sue Wallace. Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers will be Doug Matthews, Bill Bell, Matthew Wallace, Scott Wallace, Thomas Swain, Bart Yeargan, Bruce Hooper and Bill Bracey.
Sikes, Judith Browning daughter of the late LeWright Browning of Ashland, Kentucky and the late Juliet Meriwether Davis of Nashville, Tennessee, died September 30, 2007 in Mount Juliet. Funeral services Wednesday 11 am First Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro. Brother Johnny Felker and Rev. William Karnes will officiate. Visitation with the family Tuesday 4-8 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Judith was born in Maysville, Ky in 1918. She was the granddaughter of the late Hunter McClure Meriwether and Lucy Underwood Western of Clarksville, Tennessee, and the late Edward Parry Browning and Judith Keith of Maysville, KY. Mrs. Sikes was a graduate of Ward-Belmont School in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended Principia School of St. Louis, Missouri, and Vanderbilt University and Peabody College of Nashville, Tennessee. She was a member of Theta Phi and Tri Delta sororities. Mrs. Sikes was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro. She also served as a member of the Captain William Lytle Chapter of Daughters of the DAR. She was involved in many other community activities including PTA and 4-H clubs. In addition to her community activities, Mrs. Sikes taught horseback riding for over 50 years in Tennessee at her own Fairfield Riding School in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Sikes is preceded in death by her husband, McCulloch Hord Sikes in 2006; She is survived by one son, LeWright Browning Sikes of Antioch; five daughters, Judith Keith Ferrell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mary McCulloch German of Mt. Juliet, Lucy Meriwether Karnes of Lawrenceburg, Martha Thompson Felker of Mt. Juliet, and Jane Warner Sikes of Elizabeth, Colorado; one sister, Jane Gevedon, Hemet, CA; a half-sister, Ellen Lambiris of Raleigh, North, Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Devine, Virginia Haynie age 97, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Nashville died October 1, 2007. Graveside services Wednesday 2 pm Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Nashville. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Jessie Haynie of Birmingham and Anniston, Alabama. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Frances Hall and Jean Crow, both of Anniston, Ala. She was marred to the late Ottis E. Devine in 1936 and moved to Nashville where he joined WSM. She was a great partner and loyal supporter of his career in radio, television and the Grand Ole Opry where he was manager. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is also survived by Gina Bullen and her husband, Bob of Murfreesboro; Carol Devine Carson of New York City, and Alan Devine of Nashville. Her six loving grandchildren, who called her Nana, are Alex Carson, of Atlanta; Kristin Adcock and her husband Scott, Courtney Rowland and her husband Mark, all of Murfreesboro; Sara, Nelson, and Chase Devine of Nashville. The four great grand-children, Austin and Taylor Rowland and Ansley and Camryn Adcock are from Murfreesboro. She will be missed as a creative homemaker and gifted seamstress, a curious reader, avid gardener, bird lover, and later in life a serious golf follower. Wilkins, Jr. Brooks age 52 of Milton died Wednesday October 3, 2007. Funeral services Saturday 1:00 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dean Sisk officiating, burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Friday 4-8 pm in the chapel. He was a native of Davidson Co. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Kerr Wilkins, children, April and Christopher Wilkins, Christopher and Caroline Reeves, parents, Glenn and Nellie Wilkins, Sr. Sister, Debbie Harlan of Lebanon, brother, Steven Wilkins of Bowling Green, KY nephew, Tim Harlan and niece Katy Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a member of Belle Aire Baptist Church and was Special Agent on the Middle Tennessee Criminal Investigative Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation since 2004. He was instrumental in the inception on new programs at the TBI, such as Amber Alert and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. He graduated from John Overton High School in 1973 and was an Eagle Scout through Boy Scouts of America. He was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate Arts Degree in Law Enforcement. Mr. Wilkins was a 30 year veteran of law enforcement, having served for the Middle Tennessee State Police Department and the Murfreesboro Police Department and was named Officer of the Year in Murfreesboro in 1985. He was a certified instructor for Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, a member of the S.W.A.T. Team and Field Training Officer for the new recruits for the Murfreesboro Police Department. Mr. Wilkins enjoyed outdoor activities including running and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was an outstanding TBI employee; dependable, trustworthy and dedicated to seeking justice for the residents of the State of Tennessee. He will be sorely missed.

She is survived by two daughters and sons in law Betty and Jim Smith of Murfreesboro and Anna and Larry Williams of Lebanon; a son and daughter in law Kenneth and Nancy Campbell of Murfreesboro; brothers Hubert and Sue Lancaster of Moss, Eulis and Mabel Lancaster of Tampa, FL, Edward and Pearl Lancaster of Akron, OH, Edgar and Ann Lancaster of Hendersonville; sisters Grace Ervin of Smyrna and Alene Gray of Celina; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Medford Campbell and brothers Hobert, Herbert and Donald Lancaster and sisters Hazel Crowder and Hettie Collins. She was a member of the Dilton Church of Christ and a homemaker.

He was a native of Murfreesboro and the son of the late Al C. and Kate Currin Bell Mifflin, Jr. Funeral services Saturday 4 p.m. Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with Reverend Michael O’Bannon officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Saturday 2-4 pm before the services in the chapel. He is survived by his wife Ann Willis Mifflin; two daughters and sons in law Currin and Randy Kozak of Franklin and Rae and Randy Bryan of New Orleans, LA; a brother and sister in law Robert Bell and Mary Dodd Mifflin of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Philip, David and Matthew Kozak and Margaret Ann, Virginia and Lucy Bryan.He attended Training School and was a 1956 graduate of Central High School. He graduated Vanderbilt University in 1960 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a retired Business Consultant and a member of First United Methodist Church. Warner, Martha Jane age 77, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday at her home. Funeral services Sunday 1 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Dr. James Clardy, Rev. George Jones will officiate. Visitation with the family Saturday 4–8 pm in the chapel. Graveside services Sunday 3 pm Beech Cemetery, Sumner County. She was a native of Sumner County and the daughter of the late Herschel and Willie Patton Ketring. Survived by her loving husband of 53 years: Jere Warner, son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Barbara Warner of Tampa, FL, daughter: Suzanne Warner of Nashville, sister: Sarah Wright of Dickson, TN, and 2 grandchildren: Will and Caitlin Warner of Tampa, FL. Mrs. Warner was a member of the St. Marks United Methodist Church, the Don Emerson Sunday School Class and a former member of Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She grew up in the Shackle Island Community in Sumner County. She received her B.S. Degree in Business from MTSU and retired from Riverdale High School where she had been a devoted Vocational Office Education Teacher for 18 years before her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Retired Teachers Association. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bromley, Chuck Miller, Bill Miller, John Harrison, Bill Jones, and Dr. Nate Schott.
