Jones, Bounma age 69, of Murfreesboro died Thursday at her home. Funeral services Saturday 2:00 p.m., Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Visitation with the family Friday 4:-8 p.m. in the chapel. She was a native of Laos and the daughter of the late Khamkan and Thip Kanjanabout. She is survived by her sons Chip, Boonpeng and Nickson Kantasee all of Murfreesboro; daughters Manivanh Kanjanabout of Murfreesboro and Manijan Kantasee of LaVergne; a brother Sam Kanjanabout and a sister Amphone Kanjanabout both of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Blair, Charles Allison, age 75 of Nashville died Friday. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late W. W. and Ruby Hayes Blair. Funeral Services will be 2:30 Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Bro. Chris Smith will officiate. Burial in Mapleview Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Vera Jean McLaughlin Blair, daughter and son in law: Carol and Keith Mabry of Brentwood, granddaughter: Heather (Russ) Clendenin of Memphis. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by a son: Don Allison Blair who died in 2005. Mr. Blair was a member of the Church of Christ and a 1950 graduate of Smyrna High School. Mr. Blair served in the US Army and was retired from A T & T. Active Pallbearers will be Keith Mabry, Russ Clendenin, Kirk Donegan, Claude Hayes, Dennis Blair, Scott Ellis, Robert Gossett, and Silas Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Henry Harrell, Billy Bob Hughey, Charles Felts, Frank Johns, Tommy Floyd, Printess Fulton, Bernard Tabors, Kenneth Morgan, and Tractor Friends. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

MSgt. (RET.) MARSHALL LEE ANDREWS, SR., age 87, of Smyrna died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Leeville, TN and the son of the late Wilburn Lee and Anna F. Bingham Andrews. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Nathan Hale officiating. Graveside services 1:00 pm Wednesday at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN with Full Military Honors. He is survived by his loving wife: Betty Crafton Andrews, sons: Marshall Lee Andrews, Jr. of Smyrna, James Mullins, Jr. of Rockvale, daughters: Damah Reeves Gilbert of Robertsdale, AL, Ronda Denise Laureigh of Murfreesboro, Anissa Leeann Andrews of Smyrna, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ret. M/Sgt Andrews served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam before his retirement. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

WALKUP, CORA WILSON, age 98 of Murfreesboro, died Monday October 8, 2007. A native of Rutherford Co. she was the daughter of the late Albert D. and Sallie Pace Wilson.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Stephen Brooks and Danny Walkup officiating, burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her children, Billy (Pat) Walkup of Beech Grove, Thelma Nixon of Bradyville, and June Walker of Beech Grove, grandchildren, Larry (Mary Alice) Nixon, Donna Boyd, Allan (Penny) Walker, Tina Walkup, Danny (Della) Walkup, six great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Walkup was a member of South East Baptist Church and a devoted wife and mother. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

VAUGHTER, SR, ROBERT ERNEST age 66 of Lascassas died Monday, October 8, 2007 at his home. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Baxter & Gertie McKee Vaughter and was preceded in death by his sister, Sue V. Copeland. He is survived by his wife, Carol McKnight Vaughter; son, Rob (Felecity) Vaughter, Lascassas; daughters, Charlotte (Jamie) Beard, Cookeville and Laura Vaughter of Lascassas; sister, Janice Vaughter, Murfreesboro; grandchildren, John Bradley Vaughter, Maggie Vaughter, and Macy Vaughter; father in law and mother in law, Jimmy and Alta McKnight, Sisters in law, Neika Bedsaul, Nyla Satterfield, Rita (Lannie) Lester, Nancy (Mike) Miller, Darlene (Stanley) Miller; brothers in law, Kenny McKnight and Tom Copeland. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Bradley’s Creek Baptist Church with Tony Holt and David West officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Creek Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 pm Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Vaughter was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Europe where he received the Army Service Ribbon, was also a Staff Sgt. with the Tennessee National Guard where he received the Army Reserve Componets Achievement Metal, TNARNG Volunteer Ribbon, TNARNG Service Ribbon and the Tennessee Governor’s Meritorious Unit Citation, and a member of Kingwood Heights Church of Christ. Active pallbearers will be Curly Lewis, Kenny McKnight, Lannie Lester, Mike Miller, Stanley Miller, Tom Copeland, Thomas McMillan, Buford Christopher, Stephen Lester and Nathan Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bills, Wendell Hix, Luke Lewis, Cody Dunnaway, Harris Florida, Malcolm Campbell, John Miller and Marty Bedsaul.

Ralston, Ruth Harrison, age 97, of Murfreesboro died Friday, April 11, 2008 at Community Care of Rutherford County. Funeral services Tuesday 11 am Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with Rev. Perry Muse and Dr. Craig Martindale officiating. Burial Roselawn Memorial Gardens. She was the daughter of the late Charlie & Lockie Horton Harrison. She is survived by her two sons, Larry Norman Ralston and Gary Ralston and his wife, Pamela both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Jim (Donna) Ralston, Chris (Debra) Ralston, Kim Ralston, Jason (Casey) Ralston, Sara Ralston Bottoms and Spencer Ralston; and six great grandchildren.Mrs. Ralston was married to the late James E. Ralston who died in 1971 and was preceded in death by a son; the late Jimmy H. Ralston. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Ralston was preceded in death by her sisters, Jessie Gordon, Virginia Todd, Mildred  Jackson and Rachel Covington and a brother, Coley Harrison. Active Pallbearers will be David Davenport, Jim Ralston, Jason Ralston, Charlie Harrison, Todd Faulkner, Spencer Ralston, Lynn Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Todd, Jr., James Faulkner, Charlie Francis Harrison, Harvey Harrison, Ray Potts, Chris Bratcher, Joe Finney, James Harrison, Gary Simpson, William Powers, Sr., Ed Delbridge, Charlie Pitts, Freddie Goodwin and William Nelms.

Gordon, Imogene "Jean",age 85, of Christiana died Saturday, April 12, 2008. Funeral Services Tuesday 2 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Rev. Murray Mathis and Rev. Franklin Brown will officiate. Burial Thyatira Cemetery. She was a native of Cannon County and the daughter of the late Freeland and Novella Vassar Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband: Dee Gordon in 1998 and a son: Robert Lee Gordon. She is survived by her sons: Jimmy (Ida Mae) Gordon of Murfreesboro, Frank (Faye) Gordon of Murfreesboro, Denton (Debbie) Gordon of Shelbyville, Ronnie (Robbie) Gordon of Shelbyville, daughters: Fannie (James) Bogle of Bradyville, Linda (Melvin) Lonning of Bell Buckle, Patsy (Gene) Walls of Murfreesboro, sisters: Paralee Williams of Murfreesboro, Ruby Vassar of Murfreesboro, 31 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Gordon was a homemaker and member of the Short Creek Baptist Church. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.

Hughes, Jerry Wayne, age 62 of Milton, TN, died Thursday April 10, 2008 in Orlando, FL. Funeral services Wednesday 2 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with Carter Woodruff and Rev. Michael O’Bannon officiating. Burial Milton Cemetery. Visitation with the family Tuesday 4-8 pm in the chapel. A native of Cannon County, he was the son of Oleta Hughes Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN and the late Cecil Wayne Hughes. Survived by wife, Sherry Grizzle Hughes, son and daughter in law, Perry and Ann Hughes of Lascassas, TN, daughters and sons in law, Terri and Michael Hollis of Woodbury, TN, and Cherrie Lynn and Joe Reed of Auburntown, TN. Mother, Oleta Hughes Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN and brother and sister in law, Wade and Debby Hughes of Knoxville, TN and sister and brother in law, Laketa and Mike Schoen of Murfreesboro, TN. He was also survived by grandchildren, Danielle Stratton, Dakota, Jonathan, Colton, and Michael Jr. Hollis, Pearson Hughes, Christi and Ethan Reed and great-grandchildren, Destinee and Andrew Stratton. Mr. Hughes is also survived by sister in law, Betty Grizzle of Woodbury, TN and by aunts, uncles, cousins, and several nieces, and nephews. Mr. Hughes was a Dairy farmer for 30 years and was the owner and operator of the Green Valley Dairy Farm in Milton. Prior to dairy farming he worked at Mid-Tenn Ford Truck Sales in Nashville. Mr. Hughes was Alternate Board Director with Southeast Milk Incorporated (SMI) in Florida. He was also a board member with the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDA). Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials in memory of Mr. Hughes may be made to the American Heart Association, the Wilson County 4-H Dairy Group, Lebanon, TN or the Autism Society of Middle Tennessee, ASMT 955 Woodland Street Nashville, TN 37206.

Gammill, Rodney, age 64, died Saturday, April 12, 2008. Funeral services Wednesday 3:30 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with Dusty Ray officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Tuesday 4-7 pm in the chapel. He was born in Shelbyville, Tn. and was the son of the late Thomas Leo & Eva Mae Williams Gammill. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Gammill; daughter, Tonya Biter and her husband, John of Murfreesboro; sister, Barbara King and her husband R. T. of Nashville and a grandson, Tristan Biter. Mr. Gammill attended Heartland Baptist Church and was a transportation planner with the State of Tennessee. Memorials in memory of Mr. Gammill may be made to The Gideon’s International or any “Support Your Local Dog Rescue”.

Melton, Mildred Juanita age 89 of Smyrna died Tuesday. Graveside services Friday 10 am Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Elder Jasper Hatcher, Sr. will officiate.She was a native of Warren County and the daughter of the late William C. and Elise O’Brien Stiles. She is survived by her daughter: Kathryn Dell Tabor of Manchester, sons: Dr. Terry Lane Melton of Hermitage, Steven Brien Melton of Woodbury, grandchildren: Suzanne Robbins, Brian Elmore, Toscha McClain, great grandchildren: Shelby Robbins, Sara Robbins, Jocelyn McClain, Sanchez McClain, and Marcus McClain. Ms. Melton was retired and a member of the Church of Christ.

Moss, Thomas Dale age 49 of Parsons, TN, died Monday April 21, 2008. Graveside services Friday 10:30 am Nolensville Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Cornwell officiating. Visitation with the family Thursday 4-8 pm Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. A native of Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Lloyd Kendall and JoAnn Holloway Moss, Sr. Mr. Moss is survived by sister, Penny Routledge of Parsons, TN, brother, Ken Moss of Wartrace, TN, nephews Kenny and Jason Moss, nieces Stephanie Meadors, Jennifer Rosson, and Chrissy Meadors. Mr. Moss is also survived by great-niece, Ivey Jade Meadors and great-nephews Bralin, Kenson, Hudson and Chandler.

Jackson, Joe B. age 87, former Mayor of Murfreesboro died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Funeral services Saturday 10 am Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Rev. Fred Hembree will officiate. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Friday 2-8 pm in the chapel. He is survived by three daughters: Janeese  Jackson of Portland, OR, Jodie  Jackson of Morgantown, WV, and Jennifer  Jackson of San Rafael, CA, sister: Betty Ruth Buffington of Chattanooga, TN, brothers: J.T.  Jackson of Murfreesboro, Ernest  Jackson and Elbert Jackson, Jr both of Chattanooga, and a special friend: Nancye Nelson of Murfreesboro, three grandchildren: Jessie Douglas, Chelsey Reinoehl, and Shane Workman. He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances Hickerson  Jackson in 2001. Mr.  Jackson was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He was born on the Caney Fork River in DeKalb County in 1921. He was the son of the late Elbert Lee and Bertha Mae Vanatta Jackson. At age 2 his family moved to Chattanooga, TN. He was a graduate of Chattanooga Central High School. Following High School he joined the Third marine Division and served throughout the Pacific Theater during WWII. After his military service he attended MTSU on an Athletic Scholarship playing all three major sports. He was elected President of Associated Student Body, Who’s Who of American Colleges and Universities, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He was a graduate of the Nashville School of Law and passed the Tennessee Bar Exam. He was the retired owner of Home Roofing and Building Company of Murfreesboro. Mr.  Jackson served as President of the MTMC hospital board, President of the Exchange Club, City School Board, Water and Sewer Board, Recreation Commission, and many other City Boards and Commissions. He was elected to the City Council in 1968, was chosen Vice Mayor in 1978, and was elected Mayor in 1982 serving until 1998. He was elected Mayor of the Year in 1988 for the State of Tennessee. He was past President of the Tennessee Municipal League and was elected to the Board of Directors for the National League of Cities in 1988 representing 1800 member cities across the United States. He served on the Advisory Board of the National League of Cities and Tennessee Municipal League and was Past President of the Tennessee Municipal League Bond Board. In September 2003 the opening of Joe B.  Jackson Parkway was dedicated to the memory of former Mayor Joe B.  Jackson and will be a lasting memorial of his service to Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and Alive Hospice in memory of Mr. Jackson. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
