CATE, CLIFFORD - age 88, of Knoxville, passed away at home Wednesday, February 3, 1999. A founding member of Black Oak Height Baptist Church. Owner of Black Oak Construction Co. Preceded in death by: wife, Johnnie Lee McMillan Cate in 1995. Survivors: sons, Johnnie Lynn Cate and wife, Lisa, Knoxville, William C. Cate, Kodak; daughters, Mary Carolyn Cruze and husband, Richard, Concord, Jean Etta Atchley and husband, Paul, Concord; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Cate, Clinton, Carrel Cate, Claxton, Charles Cate, Sevierville, M.J. Cate, Jr., Sevierville; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, followed by funeral services at 8 p.m., at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, Rev. SUMNER
LILLY, Charles., of Hendersonville passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the age of 44. He started his music career with Everett Lilly and Clear Creek Crossin. He played for Joe Diffie and on the Grand Ole Opry for 11 years. Current member of the Billy Walker band named the Tennessee Walkers and played for numerous other opry stars including the legendary Johnny Russell. Currently a member of a trio named Lee, Weeler and the other guy, with Dicky Lee and Freddie Weeler. He also had his own band that played locally that he called “Formally With”. Charles owned his own construction company, SLI, and worked closely with CGM Electric. Preceded in death by his brothers Jiles Lilly and Tennis Lilly. He is survived by his wife Karen Lilly, son’s Charles A. Lilly, Aaron Lilly and Richard Bailey (who was like a son), parents Everett and Jo Ann Lilly, brothers Everett Alan Lilly (Karen), Daniel Lilly (Sylvia) and Mark Lilly (Donna), sisters Diana Tomah (Dennis), Laverne O’loughlin and Karen Pierangenlo. Visitation will be from 2pm til 4pm and 6pm til 8pm, Wednesday, May 24 and Thursday, May 25, at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11am Friday, May 26, at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Brother Glenn Weekly officiating. Pallbearers: Charles A. Lilly, Aaron Lilly, Richard Bailey, Everett A. Lilly, Mark Lilly, Daniel Lilly, Mark Stover and Chris Stover. Kathleen Jones
Born in Jacksonville, FL on Jan. 28, 1907

Jones, Kathleen Isabelle Platt, 99, died on November 13 in Nashville, Tennessee. Member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Nashville. She was born in Jacksonville, FL, on January 28, 1907, to William Arthur Platt and Elizabeth Scruggs Platt. She graduated from Florida State College for Women in 1928 and taught for several years in Duval County School System. She then joined the staff of the Episcopal student center, Ruge Hall, at her alma mater in Tallahassee. It was through this church work that she met the Rev. Girault McArthur Jones, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church Pass Christian, MS. They were married July9, 1935. He was called to be Rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in New Orleans, LA, where they moved in 1936. They remained in New Orleans when he became Bishop of Louisiana in 1949 and lived there until his retirement in 1969. They moved to a home they had built in Sewanee, TN and spent 23 years of their retirement there before moving to Richland Place Retirement Center in Nashville in 1993. A gentle, soft-spoken woman, she will be remembered for her kind and gracious manner, her enjoyment of all that her life had given her, and her ability to make and keep friends over many years and around the globe. She was an excellent correspondent and kept up with people from all areas of her life, including girlhood friends. She will particularly be remembered in Sewanee for her bread making and her tatting, a needlework skill learned in childhood and perfected in retirement with snowflake ornaments, one of which was displayed one year on a White House Christmas tree. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 63 years, a sister, Hazel Platt Mclellan, brother, Arthur William Platt, and son-in-law, David A. Corey. Survived by two daughters, Virginia  Jones Callicott and husband Duncan Callicott of Franklin, TN, Elizabeth (Bettie)  Jones Corey of Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters, Emily Callicott Boylan and husband Thomas J. Boylan, Jennifer Engle Seger and husband Steven E. Segar, all of Franklin, TN, and Elizabeth Bryan Callicot of Portland, OR; five great-grandchildren, Wlliam Girault Segar, Edward Alden Seger, Hannah Catherine Boylan, Kathleen Harley Seger, and Thomas Ayden Boylan, all of Franklin, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Apostles of the School of Theology, The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, Monday, December 4, at 1:30 p.m. with burial following in the University Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service. James Harold (“Bud”) Reasons, 74, of Nashville, TN, died June 1, 2007. Born December 19, 1932, in Nashville, TN, to the late James Franklin and Olene Forrester Reasons, he was graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Peabody College with a Masters degree. Bud was a teacher and coach for years in Metro Nashville Public Schools, including Dupont, Bellevue, Cohn, and Pearl-Cohn high schools. Bud was an active member of Woodmont Baptist Church, serving in many capacities in the deacon, youth, missions, and television ministries.
Coach Bud Reasons, a gentle giant of a man, was adored by all who knew him for his patience, lovingkindness, gentleness, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and steadfast loyalty to both family and friends. His decades of coaching and teaching have resulted in generations of students being influenced by his life.
Bud was preceded in death by Miriam, his wife of 46 years. He is survived by three sons, Allen and wife Laurie, Ira and wife Saxon, Jud and wife Anne; six grandchildren, Katherine, Preston, Blake, Kyle, Dexter, and Riley; a brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Ernestine Reasons; a brother-in-law James and wife Nona Dance; a sister-in-law Emily and her husband John Burgin; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 10:00am to 10:45am at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 11:00am.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd., Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305.

Floris McCandless Savell
