Annalisa Burrow
Spunky Annalisa Burrow died last Wednesday morning at her home after gallantly fighting a battle with cancer during her tender four years of life, in and out of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
"The Rick Burrow family lost another angel," a friend remarked at last Saturday’s funeral at Bodkin Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Jane Burrow, who died of cancer at age 3 in 1998.
Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Annalisa was active up until her death. Physicians at St. Jude noted her spunky attitude and inquiring mind during the last year and a half of her treatment. "She was a fireball," one of them noted. Several of the Memphis based doctors drove to Milan for her funeral. Annalisa came home April 13 when her condition became inoperable, and Hospice took over in her home.
She attended services with her family at First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, whenever she could. Rev. Herb Adams, minister of the Humboldt church, conducted funeral services, utilizing a medley of piano music applicable to children. During the eulogy, the minister picked up his guitar and sang the butterfly song. The theme of his sermon was "A Witness to the Resurrection of Annalisa Grace Burrow".
Annalisa was treated for cancer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis for one and a half years. She shared her smile and beautiful spirit with all who knew her. She gave her parents and family a special blessing to love during her short stay on earth, four and one half years, a family member said.
Annalisa is survived by her parents, Richard (Rick) and Wendy Burrow; a sister, Julia Faith Burrow, and a brother, Lucas Jackson Burrow.
Grandparents are Richard and Ruth Burrow of Milan and Robert and Wanda Fry of Bolivar.
Pallbearers included Andy Allison, Lance Floyd, Hubert Clemmer, Bob Fry, Philip Lawler, Randy Garner and Ralph Jones III.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN.
