James Darris "Jim" Breeden
James Darris "Jim" Breeden, 58, of Springville, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. He was a master mechanic for Hickman Hardware for 35 years. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at White-Ransom Funeral Home in Union City with the Rev. Charles Callens and the Rev. Parks Thurmond officiating. Survivors include his wife, Martha Prince Breeden; a son, Bryan Breeden of Union City; two stepdaughters, Claudia Callens of Ridgely and Jo Ann Gamble of McAllen, Texas; a stepson, Terry Prince of Ridgely; four sisters, Maxine Clemmons of Wynnburg, Jo Ann Long, Kathy Younger and Linda Faye, all of Union City; four brothers, Ricky Breeden, Bill Breeden, John Breeden and Slim Breeden, all of Union City; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Carlene Stringer Breeden; and three brothers, Phillip Wayne Breeden, Donald Breeden and Terry Breeden.

James Calvin Ozment
James Calvin Ozment, 85, of Nashville, formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at IHS of Nashville Nursing Facility. He was a retired employee of Ford Construction Co. and a mason. Graveside services were Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with the Rev. James Branscum officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The widower of Mary Evelyn Ozment, he is survived by a son, Jim Ozment of Nashville; two sisters, Willie Autry of Dyersburg and Kate Wilcox of Ontario, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Ballard. Pallbearers were Tom Ballard, Fred Plew, Dean Plew, J.D. Thompson, Wayne Autry and Kyle Autry. Honorary pallbearer was Tommy Nolen.

Clyde Norris
Clyde Norris, 64, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital. He was a farmer. Graveside services were Saturday at Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern with the Rev. Waymon Hogue officiating.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews, three of whom cared for him, nieces Peggy Robbins and Donna Sisk, both of Dyersburg; and nephew Bill Ennis of Dyersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lloyd and Maggie Howell Norris, and a sister, Doris Rogers. Pallbearers were Billy Sisk, James Sisk Jr., Jeff Sisk, Kenneth Sisk, Ronnie Robbins and Roger Robbins.

Alta Lorene Moore Daniel
Alta Lorene Moore Daniel, 83, of Horn Lake, Miss., died Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Baptist East Hospital. She was a retired employee of Lowenstein Department Store and a member of Church Road Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Hill South Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, John Daniel of Horn Lake, Miss.; a daughter, Peggy Halliburton of Horn Lake, Miss.; four stepdaughters, Bonnie Tomlinson and Madge Elkins, both of Horn Lake, Miss., Yvonne Neghadpour of Little Rock, Ark. and Jean Goff of Tunica, Miss.; two stepsons, Dan Daniel of Lambert, Miss. and Johnny Daniel of Peoria, Ill.; a sister, Irene Cook of Southaven, Miss.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobby Cumberland
Bobby Cumberland, 45, of Kenton, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. He was a former employee of R.S. Reed & Sons. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton with the Rev. James Barber officiating. Karnes-Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Karissa Cumberland and Kelsey Cumberland, both of Newbern; his mother, Bonnie Graves of Kenton; four sisters, Robin Simpson of Troy, Vanessa Mayhall of Kenton, Jackie Lester of Sneads, Fla. and Addie Graves of Spearfish, S.D.; and two brothers, Gary Graves of Fairfield, Texas and Jamie Graves of Kenton. He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Graves.

Emma P. Crissom, 80, of Newbern, died Saturday, September 15, 2001 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was a avon representative and a retired food service employee for Methodist Healthcare and attended Fair Havens Church of Christ. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of  Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Kenneth Roark officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Elbridge. The family will receive visitors at 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Louis F. Grissom of Newbern; three daughters, Brenda Hood of Millington, Bonnie Whitson of Trimble and Martha Jewell Whitworth of Gleason; two sons, William Howard Grissom and Roger Bane Grissom, both of Newbern; two sisters, Dorothy Dozier and Bonnie Crook, both of Newbern; a half-sister, Eveline Phillips of Brianburg, Ky.; a brother, Lawrence Price of Ridgely; a half-brother, Howard Price of Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethel Grimes Gibson and Howard Clifford Price; and a half-brother, Melvin Price. He was assistant manager of Computer Services at Dyersburg Fabrics and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. The family will receive visitors at 5:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mary Alline Tredo, 90, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 at Oakwood Manor in Dyersburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Hawthorne Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Halls. The widow of O.C. Tredo, she is survived by three daughters, May Turnbow, Carolyn Ray and Fay Jackson, all of Dyersburg; a son, Ewell Robertson of Dyersburg; a half-sister, Laverne Sikes of Dyersburg; two brothers, Vernice Wyrick and Willis Wyrick, both of Newbern; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Omeda Moore, 73, of Ridgely, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001 at her residence. She was a homemaker. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ridgely First Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Rachel officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Survivors include her husband, Wilkes Moore of Ridgely; two daughters, Jaan Anne Hardin of Marietta, Ga. and Jane Williams of Brownsville; two half-sisters, Carolyn Williams of Houston, Texas and Judith Finch Campbell of San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion with the Rev. Archie Larry officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery near Obion. Grace Lorraine Webb, 86, of Milan, formerly of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001 at NHC Healthcare in Milan. She was a homemaker, a member of First Assembly of God in Milan and worked many years in child evangelism fellowship. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Appleton of Milan and Janice Moody of Memphis; a son, Stanley Webb of Enterprise, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Webb; two daughters, Doris Chandler and Carol Webb; and a son, Kenneth Webb. Rubye Evelyn Pearson, 76, of New Albany, Miss., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a retired customer service employee of Mohasco Upholstered Furniture and was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church. Services were at 11 a.m. today at Bethlehem Methodist Church with Brother Billy Owen and Brother Skip Atchison officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Marina Little of New Albany and Patty Little of Dyersburg; a son, Andy Pearson of New Albany; a brother, Travis Ray Anderson of Cookville; and four grandchildren, Zack Little, Morgan Little, Drew Pearson and Emma Bea Pearson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pearson; her parents, Harrison and Annie Lou Whiteside Anderson; and a brother, John Quay Anderson.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Clark of Dyersburg; three sisters, Mary Virginia Walker of Mayfield, Ky., Charlene Hampton of Upton, Calif., and Sonda Sykes Bishop of Dyersburg; and eight brothers, Sonny Sykes and Eugene Sykes, both of RoEllen, Gene Clark of Friendship, Jerry Hays and Did Hays, both of Lenox, and Dan Hays, James Sykes and Gary Sykes, all of Dyersburg. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Ann Reynolds and Betty Jewell Thrasher, both of Ridgely, Zada May Copeland of Dyersburg, Peggy Jean Ellsworth of Northcreek, N.Y. and Sherry Christine Sanders of Dyer; a son, William Herbert Sanders Jr. of Ridgely; three brothers, W.A. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Sanders; and a brother, Robert "Bob" O'Neil Runions. Survivors include two daughters, Tommye Sue Cooley of Carmel, Ind. and Marilyn Monroe of Woodstock, Ga.; a sister, Vada B. Gibbons of Newbern; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. James Dawson Capshaw, 51, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Sept. 25 at his residence. He was a minister and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a photographer. He was and a member of RoEllen Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Deloris Capshaw of Dyersburg; his mother, Betty Capshaw; a son, Scott Capshaw of Richmond, Va., three sisters, Paula Perry of Marianna, Fla., Pat Pitts of Lakeland, Fla., Karen Whitaker of Dothan, Ala.; three brothers, Mike Capshaw of Dothan, Ala., Pete Capshaw of Greewood, Ala., and Willie Capshaw of Marianna, Fla. His father, James Dawson Capshaw Sr., preceded him in death. Visitation is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at  Johnson Funeral Home in Newbern. Funeral services are scheduled 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at  Johnson Funeral Home in Newbern, with the Rev. Phillip Mansfield officiating. He was a retired employee of Marimont Manufacturing in Ripley, a member of Halls Fire Department and Police Department and a carrier for the State Gazette. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Halls Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Louise McAlister Cooper; two daughters, Carolyn Harber of Alamo and Bonita Shatley of Gates; a son, Harold Freeman of Halls; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Dyersburg. Survivors include his wife, Janet Hinson of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Joy Christensen of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Shirley Mitchell of Dyersburg and Penny Young of Parsons; two brothers, Jerry Don Hinson and Bobby Hinson, both of Dyersburg; and a granddaughter, Natasha Christensen of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Madison Hinson; his parents, Brumley and Jimmie Sue Pugh Hinson; and a brother, Thomas Hinson. Winnie Bell  Taylor Powell, 91, of Millington, formerly of Dyer County, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 at Covington Manor. She was a retired employee of St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern with the Rev. Waymon Hogue officiating.  Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include four nieces, Bettye Beloate of Memphis, Jo Ann  Jackson of Atoka and Beatrice Young and Helen Douglas, both of Newbern. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Powell; and her parents, Joe and Sarah Emma  Jackson Taylor.

Jamie Hassell, 58, of Henry, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 at Methodist Healthcare-Jackson. He was a retired employee of Emerson Electric, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Henry Church of Christ. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Yorkville Cemetery with Brother Mike Cowart officiating. The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. today at  Johnson Funeral Home. Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Hassell of Paris, Diane Hill of Breaux Bridge, La. and Rebecca Dawn Wilbanks of Henry; a son, Jon Kevin Hassell of Paris; three brothers, Kenneth Hassell, Jimmy Hassell and Gene Hassell, all of Yorkville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Virginia Carroll Hassell; a sister, Bammie Jo Hassell; and three brothers, Bobby Hassell, Vick Hassell and Buddy Hassell. Pallbearers will be Shane Hassell, Mickey Hassell, Joey Hassell, Tim Hassell, Victor Hassell and Stacy Hassell. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Hassell, Kasey Hassell, Lynn Hassell and Cheryl Hassell.
