Duane Moody Harber, of Friendship, died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was a retired farmer, was a lifelong member of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served in a number of positions and was active in preservation and care of Bethesda Cemetery.

He was retired owner of Hendren's Repair Shop, a member of Pembroke, Ky. United Methodist Church, of The Gideons, Puritan Club and a Methodist pastor and lay minister for 20 years.

He was a graduate of Newbern High School, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the School of Banking of the South at L.S.U., a retired baker, serving as an officer in correspondent bank department of First National Bank in Memphis, senior vice-president of Memphis Bank and Trust, president of Planters Bank in Forrest City, Ark. and president of Security Bank in Dyersburg, a Navy veteran of Korean War, a member of Shelby County Agricultural Association, the Advisory Committee of the Mid South Fair, board member of Boys Town, Boy Scouts Cub Pack Master for the Church of the Holy Communion in Memphis, president of Forrest City Chamber of Commerce, board member of Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and a member of the United States Chamber. He served on Forrest City School Board, chairman of board of East Arkansas Community College and chairman of St. Francis Memorial Hospital Board. He organized the Ducks Unlimited Chapter in Forrest City and served as the East Arkansas District Chairman of Ducks Unlimited, reactivated the Ducks Unlimited chapter in Dyer County, of which he was chairman for several years, a Rotarian, a communicant of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Forrest City where he was Senior Warden. He served as the chairman of the Finance Committee and treasurer of the Newbern First United Methodist Church.
