"Tracing Our Roots" Newsletter Archive (A monthly genealogy newsletter written by the late Brenda Kellow, dec'd, for the Plano Star Courier newspaper. We've included all the ones we could recover.)
Few of us can perceive the future, but some of us are able to determine how we may die. How is this done? It is all in the genes. It depends but on recessive genes, faulty genes, mutant genes, or whether someone running a red light cuts our lives short.
Would you like to find out your medical history? Geneweaver, a software program on compact disc that can read your medical history from information you have gathered from your family history research plus through information you enter from the medical history of yourself and your descendants.
It was really interesting to use the program. I easily downloaded it and was able to begin using it immediately. I give the download process and A+ for efficiency. It depends on the GEDCOM information from a genealogy software program. I was surprised to find it included the really powerful Legacy software, easy to use and a fully Windows operation.
Geneweaver takes your family information by GEDCOM or you could enter it manually. The Gene Wizard makes the procedure easy and fun.
The printed reports available include a Medical Genogram complete with a legend to help with understanding the results; medical pedigree chart; checklist of resources for finding health information ; list of health and medical questions; bibliography; and a blank personal health history page.
Finally, a program to aid my descendants’ well being while related to the already collected family history I’ve collected.
Order Geneweaver from Genes and Things, Inc., P.O. Box 5402 Drawer C, Plymouth, MI 48170-5402. It is $49.95 plus $5 shipping and handling.
