MYRIA H. DAMRON
September 1, 2006

Myria H. Damron, 72, of Andrews passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Bryan Johnson, Chaplin for Home Hospice in Andrews, will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Damron was born November 17, 1933 in Jacksboro, Texas. He married Patsy Dorman September 9, 1956 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews, in 1963 from Bridgeport. Mr. Damron loved to fish, and work in his yard and he enjoyed working on cars. He loved taking care of his wife and his family and his beloved dog. He was preceded in death by: Parents - Dan and Callie Damron and a sister - Grace Gary in 1990.

HELEN LYNETT McMAHAN,/b>
August 30, 2006

Funeral services for Helen Lynette McMahan, 90, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 2, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with speaker Dr. Gregory Young of Andrews, and Branch Stake President Steven Vore of Odessa officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Helen passed away at her residence in Andrews, on Wednesday, August 30, 2006.
She was born on January 29, 1916 in Albany, Texas. She was a music teacher in Andrews, for many years, and had taught in Stanton and Kasse, Texas. Helen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Andrews. Helen married W.G. "Bill" McMahan on December 27, 1974 in Denison, Texas.
She is survived by her husband: Bill McMahan of Andrews; stepson: Mark McMahan of Goodyear, Arizona; stepdaughter: Sue McMahan of Grand Prairie; brothers: Wade Burleson of Houston and J.O. Burleson of Jasper; sister: Sethene Starks of Ft. Worth; and 2 grandchildren.

ELISARDO PANDO ACOSTA
August 29, 2006

Elisardo Pando Acosta, 69, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Mr. Acosta was born February 25, 1937 in Mulato, Mexico. He moved to Andrews, from Odessa, in 1972. He worked as a Roofer and loved to listen to music. He was member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents Marcos and Sulema Acosta; one brother, Elizaer Acosta, and two sisters, Ofelia Bustamante and Sara Juarez.
He is survived by: four brothers - Eulogio Acosta of Andrews; Enrique Acosta of Odessa; Edmundo Acosta of Andrews and Emilio Acosta of Andrews; three sisters - Consuela Lujan of Odessa; Lydia Molinar of Andrews and Rosa Elma Vasquez of Andrews. Father Emilio Sosa of Midland will officiate. Burial will follow in Andrews North Cemetery.

DIRK WRIGHT
August 23, 2006

Dirk Wright, 43, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 5:30 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Acton United Methodist Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Dirk was born Nov. 10, 1962, in Denver City, to Guerry and Ann Wright. He married Kerrie Lee, Aug. 16, 1986, in Follett. He graduated from Follett High School in 1981 and Texas Tech University in 1986. He was a football and track coach in Andrews, Granbury and Saginaw for a total of 20 years. He also taught biology. He was recently employed by ACES, an oil company. Dirk was well-known for his practical jokes and fun nature. Hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors were his favorite things to do. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Chad Wright.
Survivors: Wife, Kerrie; children, Bailee and Hagan; parents, Guerry and Ann Wright of Follett; aunts and uncles, Bob and Joyce Swope, Ludean and Floyd Taylor, Stanley and Juanita Wright, Don Wright and their families; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob and Janice Lee of Wilson; sisters-in-law, Tracy Brazile and husband, Lyndon, and children, Magen and McKenzie, Mandi Seaton and husband, Rick, and son, Jay, Shena Parks and husband, Michael; extended family; and many friends.

JOAN PAWLEY STEWART
August 18, 2006

Joan P. Stewart, 68, of Seminole, and formerly of Andrews, passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at her home in Seminole.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends 4-6 PM, Sunday at McNett Funeral Home.
Joan was born March 26, 1938 in Greybell, Wyoming. She married Eddie Gail Stewart September 8, 1957 in Cody, Wyoming. They made there home in Andrews, in 1974 and moved to Seminole, 2 years ago.
She was Secretary and Office Manager for Stewart Welding in Andrews, for many years. She was a member of the Andrews Presbyterian Church. Joan loved to write, and she was a published author, her latest work, a novel entitled "Hot Summer in No Trees". She loved to paint and work in her garden. Joan also loved to shop.
She is survived by: Husband - Eddie Gail Stewart of Seminole; one Daughter - Kelly Stewart Chiles of Seminole; Two Sons - James Eddie Stewart of Andrews and Bob Stewart of Andrews; one Brother - Dean Pawley of Cody, WY; Two Sisters - Vada McNeil of Cody, WY; and Maryann Hodson of Torryton, WY; and three grandchildren - Christopher Edward Chiles of College Station, Texas; Sara Jo Chiles of San Angelo, Texas, and Cody Gail Stewart of Andrews.

JIMMIE JOYCE DIXON MILLER
August 15, 2006

Jimmie Joyce Dixon Miller, age 75, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on August 15, 2006, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Jimmie was a devoted and beloved mother to Steven T. Miller and his wife, Laura L. Miller, of The Colony, Texas. She had lived since 1959 in Andrews, Texas, where for many years, she was well-known to the community for her service at Singleton Funeral Home, which she owned with her then-husband, Louis Taylor Miller. In more recent years, she owned and operated Andrews Flowers and Gifts on Main Street. She served the community as a member of the Auxiliary Ladies at Permian Regional Medical Center, and was a member of the Rebecca’s Lodge and the First Baptist Church. She was born in 1930 in Wayne County, TN., to James R. Dixon and Ellen Dixon, who preceded her in death.
Jimmie is survived by her son, daughter-in-law and former husband; sister, Velma Long of Waynesboro, TN; sister Margie Williamson of Smyrna, TN; sister, Lolitta Heflin of Reedsport, OR; sister, Barbara Walkup of Forest Park, GA; and brother, Vernon Blair Dixon, of Moulton, AL.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 19, at 1 p.m., at the Highland Methodist Church in Wayne County, TN. There will be a viewing on Friday, August 18, at Shackelford Funeral Home, 104 Hill St., Waynesboro, TN. Interment will be at the Highland Methodist Cemetery in Wayne County, TN.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, August 26, at 2 p.m. at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas. A register book is available to sign at McNett Funeral Home.

NAOMI WARREN
August 12, 2006

Services for Naomi Warren, 88, of Lubbock, formerly of Andrews, will 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be ministers, Jack Cummings and Joe Marshall, both with Green Lawn Church of Christ in Lubbock. Burial will follow in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole, under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Naomi passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 in Lubbock.
She was born on November 24, 1917 in Childress, Texas. She attended high school in Ralls, Texas. She played softball and was second-place winner as guard in her last years basketball tournament in 1926. Naomi married William L. Warren on May 16, 1936 in Crosbyton, Texas. They moved and lived in several states before settling in Texas "again". They lived in Lubbock, where she was a bookkeeper and manager of a restaurant. They moved to Andrews, in 1976. She served as a volunteer with the Permian General Hospital Auxiliary for five years, and was a kitchen supervisor for the Andrews Senior Citizens Center for four years.
Mr. Warren preceded Naomi in death on May 16, 1989. Naomi moved to Alaska, after his death and back to Lubbock, in 2001.
Survivors include; daughters, Melba and husband, Carl Ray, Brady, TX; Betha Chesser, Anchor Point, Alaska, Joyce Gill, Lubbock, Glenda and husband, Milton Fariss, Brownfield, Patricia and husband, Norman McNeil, Yakima, Washington; sisters Maudie Thornton and Redah Price, both of Andrews; 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Naomi was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Zane Scott, Rex Allen Fariss, 1 great-grand son, Leif Alan Herrick, five brothers and two sisters, also two son-in- laws, Nathan Chesser and Logan Gill.

INA MAE BOREN

Ina Mae Jones Boren, age 88, of Andrews, passed away Friday, August 11, 2006 in Gatesville, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at McKinney Acres Baptist Church in Andrews. Rev. Ted Short will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery.
Ina Mae was born August 10, 1918 at Hawley, Texas. She married Delmond Doyle (Bill) Boren November 11, 1933 in Tarzan, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by: Son - Delmond George (Punk) Boren; Daughter - Birdie Evelyn Heidelberg.
She is survived by: Sons - Tim Boren of Belle Fuche, SD; Dale Boren of Ft. Worth, TX; Danny Boren of Hamilton, TX Larry Murphee of Cuching, OK; Daughters - Fay Doyle of Gatesville, TX; Sue Padgett of Robert Lee, TX; one Brother - Eugene (Dock) Jones of Arlington, TX; 27 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was known to many as Momma Boren.

MARION CHAPMAN
August 8, 2006

Services for Marion Chapman, 79, of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 11, 2006 at Second Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Covington, pastor of Second Baptist. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Marion passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006 in Odessa.
Marion was born on December 31, 1926 at McCamey, Texas. She married Doug Chapman on December 27, 1946 at San Angelo, Texas. Marion was a waitress at Buddy's Drive-In for 28 years, she retired in 2001. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, her husband, Doug preceded her in death on May 2, 1982.
Survivors include; daughter, Brenda and husband, Ronny Gandy, Hobbs, NM, sons, Tom and wife Liz Chapman, Ft. Stockton, TX, and Coley and wife, Donna Chapman of Walhalla, South Carolina; brothers, Tom Spurger, Rock Springs, TX, and Dick Spurger, San Angelo, TX; sisters Lulia Rufla, Omaha, Nebraska, Helen Williams, Millsap, TX, Sadie Gafford and Pat Hoelscher, both of San Angelo, TX, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lester Gross

Services for Lester Gross, 64, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. today in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Street officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Cemetery under direction of Singleton-Easterling Funeral Home.
Gross died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994, in Permian General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Holliday, Archer County, Texas, to Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He married Lola Fowler on 04 Nov 1949 in Livingston, NM. Later, married Juanita Johnston Vowell on Dec. 29, 1979, in Andrews. He moved to Andrews from Seagraves in 1947, and he was a member of Second Baptist Church.
He was a retired auto mechanic.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Marvin Gross of Big Spring, step-son, James Fowler of Eagle Pass and step-son, Dwayne Vowell of Quinlan; two daughters, Shirley Borders of Cedartown, Ga., and step-daughter, Malta Coffer of Roswell, N.M.; four brothers, J.B., Leslie, Wesley, and Lonnie, all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Sean Borders.
