JOYCE K. HAMMOND
April 22, 2006

Humanity is greatly diminished by the passing of Joyce k. Hammond, 58, of Andrews. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 24, 2006 in the Andrews West Cemetery with Rev. David King of Andrews officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, April 24, 2006 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Joyce lost a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
Joyce was born April 1, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico, and attended high school in Midland. She married Jerry Don Hammond on June 23, 1981 in Andrews, and they owned and operated J & J Carpet Cleaning in Andrews for 15 years. Joyce was an active member of Alcoholic's Anonymous, serving as an influential example in helping others to recover from the disease of alcoholism. She touched the lives of so many who will be forever grateful to her. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Midland. She was preceded in death by her father: Billy Kennedy in 1984; mother: Bobbie Sharp in 2005; grandson: Justin Cordova in 1993; and by many of her friends.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry Hammond of Andrews; 2 daughters: Sherri Cordova of Andrews and Lynda Ussery of Odessa; stepfather: Paul Sharp of Andrews; 1 brother: Billy Bob Kennedy of LaPorte, Texas; 2 sisters: Jan Nelson and Naomi Orman of Midland; 3 stepsisters: Claudia Duncan of Dallas, Teresa Froelich of Andrews, and Yalanda Joyce Sims of Lake Elsinore, California; 3 grandchildren: Christian Ussery of Odessa, Courtney Cordova of Andrews, and Megan McElroy of Snyder. We will miss you, Joyce.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

RANDAL L. GREER
April 21, 2006

Randal L. Greer, 49, of Andrews, passed away Friday, April 21, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, with Rev. Ted Short, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Randal was born April 3, 1957 in Mineola, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975 until his retirement in 1993. He moved to Andrews, in 1993 from Indiana. Randal enjoyed collecting movies, bowling, and going to auctions. He also had a booth at the Flea Market in Odessa, and enjoyed working it. He was a member of the Texas Road Runners.
He is survived by: one Son - Randy Greer of Pampa; two daughters - Pamela and Jennifer Greer both of Pampa; his mother - Dorothy Harris of Andrews; his father - Rudolph Greer of Morton; two brothers - Richard Greer of Andrews; Thomas Greer of Odessa; two sisters - Cindy Harper and Tammy Harris: both of Andrews; and his best friend - Sam Anderson of Andrews.

EDWARD K. 'ED' COOK
April 20, 2006

Funeral services for Edward K. "Ed" Cook, 74, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 23, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, with Rev. Larry Brewer, Pastor of City Of Refuge Church in Andrews, officiating. Military graveside services will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
He passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born on December 2, 1931 in Vernon, Texas, to Herman Stiles Cook and Clara Mae Sellers Cook. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Dorothy Mae Glenn on July 18, 1956 in Monument, New Mexico. They lived in Monument, and moved to Odessa, and then to Andrews, in 1966. He had worked for Tidewater Oil Company in Andrews, and then owned and operated Ed's Auto Service in Andrews, for over 20 years. He was a past member of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce, where he also served as an Ambassador. He was a past member of the Andrews Downtown Lions Club and Andrews Zoning Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter: Virginia Lee Cook; and 2 brothers.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Cook of Andrews; 1 son: Mike Cook of Andrews; 2 daughters: Michelle Martin of Odessa and Marcy Rhoades of Andrews; 2 brothers: Charles Cook of Vernon and Richard Cook of Pasadena; 1 sister: Norma Lockwood of Tracy, California; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

NOVELINE OWENS
April 19, 2006

Funeral services for Noveline Owens, 74, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews, with Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
She passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at her residence in Andrews.
She was born December 9, 1931 in Lonoke, Arkansas, to Earnest Leola Conatser and Mamie Lois Gore Conatser. She was raised in Sevier County, Arkansas, and moved to Andrews, in 1948. She married Ted E. Owens on August 5, 1949 in Andrews. She was a member of the Phillips Philresters Club in Andrews and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, but was attending Means Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Nelda June Owens in 1952; her parents; 4 sisters; and 5 brothers.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Theresa Whitaker of Andrews; 1 son: Tim Owens of Andrews; 2 sisters: Lois Laverne Aubrey of Dickinson and Julia Estalee Kinkade of Bailey; and 4 grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Home Hospice, 805 North Main Street, Andrews, Texas 79714.

ISABEL CORNEJO
March 20, 2006

Isabel Cornejo, 78, of Andrews, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Father Emilio Sosa of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Mrs. Cornejo was born July 7, 1927 in Big Foot, Texas. She married Inez Cornejo in 1943 in Pearsall, Texas.
They moved to Andrews, in 1946 from Big Foot. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic in Andrews.
She was a homemaker. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. She liked to play Bingo.
She is survived by: Five Sons - Inez Cornejo, Jr. Richard Cornejo; Earnest Cornejo; Jesus Cornejo and Ruben Cornejo all of Andrews; three Daughters - Paula Gonzales; Mary Lopez; and Tina Calderon also all of Andrews; and one Brother - Lino Munoz of Andrews. 31 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

KENNETH CECIL 'KENNY' CROSS, JR.
March 8, 2006

Our heavenly father called upon Kenneth "Kenny" Cecil Cross, Jr., 32 of Johnson City, on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Funeral services in Johnson City, will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church under the direction of Crofts Funeral Home in Johnson City. Visitation will begin Saturday morning.
Funeral services in Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor, officiating. Visitation in Andrews, will begin Sunday morning. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Kenneth was born July 27, 1973 in Andrews, to Kenneth Cross and Dianne Warren. He was preceded in death by his loving father: Kenneth Cross, Sr.; his grandmothers: Dora Day and Bettie Duffy; and his grandfather: Cecil Cross.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Anna of Johnson City; two beautiful girls: Samantha and Sierra Cross of Johnson City; parents: Gill and Dianne Warren of Andrews; grandparents: Gordon and Elsie Day of Andrews; grandparents: Merril and Bertha Johnson of Claytonville; mother-in-law: Isabel Alfaro of Austin; father-in-law: Pete Alfaro of San Antonio; brother and sister-in-law: James (J.J.) Cross and Mashala Cross of Midland; brother and sister-in-law: Brian Warren and Emily Warren of of Fort Worth; sister: Trina Warren of Corinth; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: April (Bobby) Mann and Tommy Mann; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many friends, and his dog: Doggie.

FRANCES M. ALLBRIGHT
March 8, 2006

Funeral services for Frances Lucille McCollum Allbright, 80, of Andrews, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 13th, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Frances passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
Frances was born June 15, 1925 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Foris Theodore McCollum and Lucille Managan McCollum. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1942 and received her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Baylor University in 1946. She then returned to Lamesa, working for Jenkins and Wood Cotton Buyers. She married Wilburn Taylor “Joe” Allbright on June 15, 1948 in Lamesa. In January 1949, they moved to Andrews, to farm and ranch. Soon after moving to Andrews, they moved their letters to the First Baptist Church. In addition to being a Sunday School teacher for many years, Frances served on the Day Care Committee for the First Baptist Church, was President of the Andrews Study Club, a charter member of the Andrews Branch of the American Association of University Women; served two terms on the Andrews School Lay Advisory Council, was President of the American Cancer Society, served on the United Fund board, was a charter member, President and presented with Lifetime membership in the Women’s Division of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. She was assistant director of the West Texas-New Mexico Health Education Resource Program, and a Lay Advisor to Continental Telephone Company. Frances also served as a Director of the Baylor University Ex-Students Association, and was Secretary-treasurer of the Board of Directors of Andrews Senior Citizens Center, Inc. Frances served as President of the Andrews Country Club and was actively involved with the Andrews Friends of the Library and Ocotillo Garden Club. Frances also was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Phi Gamma Nu fraternities. Having been a recipient of the “Gift of Life” by receiving a Liver Transplant over 15 years ago from a loving donor, Frances was ever so grateful by encouraging others to become organ donors as well as consoling and encouraging numerous others with liver disease to not give up and pursue the option of Liver Transplant Surgery.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Foris Theodore McCollum and Lucille Managan McCollum and her brother, Foris Theodore McCollum II of Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
She is survived by her husband, Wilburn Taylor “Joe” Allbright of Andrews; 4 sons: Joe McCollum Allbright and wife Vicki of Odessa; William Taylor Allbright and wife, Linda of Andrews; James Francis Allbright and wife, Elaine of San Angelo; John Managan Allbright and wife, Judy of Andrews; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Home Hospice in Andrews or Odessa and Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Munsell; O.B. Raburn; John R. Parish; Gordon Cox; Forest C. Scott; Dick Garrison; Leland Hamilton; Dr. Z.W. Hutchinson and Paul New. Honorary pallbearers will be Home Hospice personnel and Friends of the Library in Andrews.

JAMES ANTHONY FOWLER, SR.

James Anthony Fowler, Sr., of Eagle Pass, Texas, passed away March 26, 2006. He was born in Andrews, Texas, June 13, 1948 to Robert Gene and Lola Fowler McKee. Later adopted by maternal grandparents, James and Mary Evans Fowler. He married Phyllis Ann Farmer on 5 Sept 1968 in Andrews.
He and his family moved to Eagle Pass, in 1982, where he resided up until the time of this death.
Preceded in death by: birth-father, Eugene McKee, adopted parents, James and Mary Evans Fowler.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Fowler; daughter and son-in-law, Antonia and Michael Grebenok of Eagle Pass; son and daughter-in-law James, Jr. and Sonia Fowler of Eagle Pass; foster son Jesse Davida; three granddaughters, birth mother, Lola Fowler Thomason of Big Spring, half-sisters, Shirley Gross Borders of Cedartown, Georgia, and Donna McKee Rounell of Odessa, half-brother, Marvin Gross of Big Spring, and a number of other family and extended family.
Memorial services were held March 27, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. at the Yeager Barrera Mortuary Chapel in Eagle Pass.

LONNIE GROSS
November 17, 2006

Funeral services for Lonnie Gross, 76, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2006 at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Kevin Covington, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
He passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born February 16, 1930 in Holiday, Texas to Bumon Johnson Gross and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves, and married Cherry Lee Johnson on December 9, 1950 in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews, for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved drinking coffee with his brother and friends at Buddy's Drive In; twice a day; every day. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and 5 brothers.
He is survived by his wife: Cherry Gross of Andrews; 1 son: Rusty Gross of Andrews; 1 daughter: Robbie Hale of Andrews; 1 brother: James B. Gross of Andrews; 1 sister: Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

PATSY HEATH NICHOLSON
February 23, 2006

Funeral services for Patsy Jean Nicholson, 74, of Savannah, Georgia, will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas with Rev. William Goree of Midland officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
She passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Savannah Cottage in Savannah, Georgia.
She was born on May 17, 1931 in Seminole, Texas, to Henry Matthew Heath and Cora Cotten Heath. She was raised in Andrews, and graduated from Andrews High School in 1948. She received her Bachelor's of Business Administration from from Texas Tech University and her Masters in Guidance Counseling from the University of New Mexico. She married Bob Wright in 1951 in Andrews, and he preceded her in death in 1969. She moved from Garland, Texas, to Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was a Guidance Counselor for Alamogordo, New Mexico High School from 1964-1985. She married Nick Nicholson in 1974 in Alamogordo, and he preceded her in death in 1996. She moved to Savannah, Georgia, in 1996. She was a member of the Alamogordo Eastern Star and a Baptist. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her 2 daughters: Linda Wright of Tybee Island, Georgia, and Yvonne Wagner of Evansville, Indiana; 3 sisters: Linda Evans and Fern Goree of Midland, and Freida Smith of Dallas; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
