Services for Elvira Aranda, 74, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 24, 2006 at Templo La Nueva Jerusalem Church with Rev. Teodulo Garcia, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery, under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Elvira died at her residence in Andrews, Wednesday, February 22, 2006. She was born on May 7, 1931 in Ojinaga, Mexico. She married Belen Aranda in 1959 in Mulato, Mexico. She was a homemaker and a member of Templo La Nueva Jeruzalem Church.
Survivors include; husband, Blen of Andrews, sons, Herminio Armendariz, Kermit, Elinardo Armendariz, Wink, Efren Aranda, Lubbock and Manuel Garcia, Greeley, Co; daughters Martha Torres, Kermit, Obdulia Lopez, Dallas, Marisal Lares, Odessa and Arabela Flores, Andrews; brothers, Ricardo Saenz and Hector Saenz both of Kermit, Ruperto Saenz, Rigoberto Saenz and Laurencio Saenz all of Ojinaga, Mexico; sisters, Gaudalupe Ramirez, Wink and Graciela Torres, Andrews, 36 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Elvira was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Heriberto Armendariz.
HORACE PHELPS

Masonic graveside services for Horace Phelps, 95, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2006 in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor of Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews, and the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 officiating.
Horace passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born January 16, 1911 in Anson, to John B Phelps and Sue Tarpley Phelps. He came to Andrews, in 1955 with wife, Marjorie, and son, Lewis. While in Andrews, Horace spent most of his time working at Cass Electric, where he always had a story to tell and a cup of coffee to go with it. Horace was a lifetime member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024, having been a member for over 50 years. He was also a 33-degree member of the Scottish Rite as well as a Shriner at the El Maida Shrine of El Paso. For many years, he was a member of the Andrews Mesquite Burners of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. Horace also worked with the Andrews High School Band Booster's Club, as well as serving as its President for more than one year. Horace had been a long-time member of the Means Memorial Methodist Church. Horace is preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother and his wife of 62 years, Marjorie, on August 12, 2005.
He is survived by his son, Lewis Phelps of Quinlan, Texas.

Services for Encarnacion "Sean" Garcia Flores, 80, of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Toni Rodriguez. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Sean died Friday, February 17, 2006 in Permian Regional Care Center in Andrews. He was born on May 24, 1925 in Imperial, Texas. He was a retired Field worker.
Survivors include; brother, Alberto Flores, Sr., Andrews, sisters; Carolina Ramirez, Andrews and Balbina Rodriguez, Galeton, CO, several nieces and nephews. His parents, two brothers, Reynaldo and Manuel and a sister, Ofelia Jimenez preceded him in death.
AMBER LINN MENEFEE

Funeral services for Amber Linn Menefee, 21, of Andrews, will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson of Andrews, Rev. Julius Brooks of Midland, and Rev. Bennie Anderson of Canyon officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Andrews High School Class of 2003.
She passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006 in Lubbock from an automobile accident.
She was born December 11, 1984 in Midland, to Brenda Joyce Menefee and Melton Coleman Conaway, Jr. She was raised in Andrews, and graduated from Andrews High School in 2003, where she earned numerous awards, achievements, and was an all-around athlete. She graduated from South Plains College in Levelland, with an Associate of Arts degree in general disciplinary studies in December 2005, where she was on the Dean's Honor Roll, carrying a 3.42 GPA and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International and National Honor Society. She was currently attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where she was majoring in early-childhood education. She worked part-time at Olive Garden Restaurant in Lubbock. She attended the Andrews Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Earl Menefee, Sr., in 2003.
She is survived by her mother: Brenda Menefee of Andrews; father: Melton Conaway, Jr. of Andrews; grandmother: Annie Mae Menefee of Andrews; grandfather: Melton Conaway, Sr. of Andrews; 6 sisters: Tiffany Menefee, Tressa Brown, and Charlotte Conaway, all of Odessa, Tameka Conaway of Vernon, Shaneka Conaway of Abilene, and Sebrena Roberson of Dallas; 5 brothers: Jason Menefee of Abilene, Michael and Victor Conaway of Denver, Colorado, Melton Conaway, III of Andrews, and Joe Willie Jones of Round Rock.

PERRY DYKE CULP
ODESSA - Perry Dyke Culp, 48, loving husband, father, brother and son, went to be with his Lord on February 4, 2006. Dyke fought a tremendous battle to overcome the effects of a rare heart disease he had since birth and never lost his will to live.
Dyke was born as Perry Dyke Culp in Plainview, Texas, and moved to Andrews, Texas, in 1958. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1976, and some of his fondest memories and dearest friends are from his schoolboy days in Andrews. Dyke loved all sports and participated in many athletic activities at an early age, until he received a heart pacemaker at the young age of 13. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Dyke married Connie Smith, on August 28, 1981 in Andrews. She was the love of his life and remained faithfully by his side throughout his illness.
Dyke received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Angelo State University in 1981 and moved to Odessa soon thereafter. He worked in the oilfield service and supply industry for 25 years for McElvoy-Willis, Cameron, and Taylor Tools. He loved his work and the relationships he developed and worked tirelessly to provide for his family.
Dyke was baptized by his father-in-law, C.A. Smith, at Southside Church of Christ in Andrews. He was an active member of University Boulevard Church of Christ in Odessa, and he had a tremendous love for his Lord and Savior. His life exemplified his Christian faith and this is the legacy he will leave with his family and friends. Our hearts are broken with the loss of Dyke, but we celebrate the life of a wonderful Christian man who lived with devotion, commitment, strength and courage.
Dyke was preceded in death by his father, Joe Ray Culp in 1967, his daughter, Katlyn Jo Culp in 1991, and his grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie, and wonderful children: Kyndall, Landon and Kallie; his parents, Bubba and Patsy Hoermann of Andrews; his brothers, Tim Culp and wife, Annette of Midland; Trey Culp of Andrews; and Kip Culp and wife, Missi of Lamesa; father and mother-in-law, C.A. and Iva Jo Smith of Andrews; and brothers-in-law, Dale Smith and wife, Sabrina of Midland and Randall Smith and wife, Tammy of Odessa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Special thanks to Uncle Pen and Aunt Helen for their loving care and support for the past 2 years.
The family will receive friends at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa, on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. A service to honor and celebrate Dyke’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ in Odessa, under the direction of ministers Mike Oestmann and C.A. Smith. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.

Services for Alawayne Keen, 84 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor, and Rev. Bryan Johnson, Chaplain with Home Hospice. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends from 7-8 PM Monday at McNett Funeral Home.
Alawayne died Saturday, February 4, 2006 in Andrews, after a lengthy illness. Alawayne was born to John T. Atchison and Mabel Sunshine Haynie Atchison on July 30, 1921 at Stanton, Texas. She graduated for Pecos High School where she was active in the track program earning many awards. She attended Texas Tech where she met Jack Clay Keen, they were married on June 18, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas. She was active in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, she was also a Girl Scout leader. Alawayne was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church and had been a Sunday school teacher and had been active with the United Methodist Womens. She had been a member of the Eastern Star, Permian Regional Medical Center auxiliary also known as the Pink Ladies. She loved to play golf and loved her many friends and her family. Her husband, Jack, preceded her in death on June 24, 1997, her parents and a brother, Thomas Carl Atchison, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include, daughters, Loyce Roberts, Andrews, Mary Beth Baxter, Cliff, New Mexico, Sunny Lynn Brewster, Silver City, New Mexico, sons, John Clay Keen and Jack Wayne Keen both of Silver City, New Mexico, eleven grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for L.F. "Doc" Rogers, 74, of Veribest, will be 2:PM Sunday, February 5, 2006 at McNett Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
He passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Robert Lee Care Center in Robert Lee, Texas.
He was born on November 4, 1931 in Sweetwater, Texas. He moved to Andrews, in 1960 from Muleshoe, Texas. He married Jackie Marcell on October 18, 1983 in Loveington, New Mexico. He owned and operated A-1 Video & TV Repair in Andrews. He moved to Veribest, in 1990 from Andrews. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife: Jackie Rogers of Veribest; 1 son: Doug Rogers and his wife, Vikki, of Laredo; 2 stepsons: Frank Rhea And Michael Rhea and his wife, Sophie, all of Odessa; 1 stepdaughter: Betty Rhea of Odessa; 1 sister: Louwayne McQuirk and her husband Brent of Hermleigh; 6 grandsons - Wayne Rogers and his wife Nicole, Aaron Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Todd Allison and wife, Kristy, Travis Allison, Michael Rhea and wife, Sarah; 4 - great-granddaughters - Reagan Rogers, Kylie, Krista and Kamry Allison.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Saturday from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
JORDAN LEE 'BUSTER' GUNN

Memorial services for Jordan Lee "Buster" Gunn, 80, of Andrews will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, with Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews officiating. Private graveside services will be held in the Andrews West Cemetery.
He died Monday, January 30, 3006 at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.
He was born May 11, 1925 in Flomot, Texas, to J. L. Gunn and Irene G. Moffitt Gunn. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He moved to Andrews, in 1952 and had lived in Odessa from 1970-1974. He worked for Exxon in Andrews for 26 years and retired as a maintenance foreman. He was a past volunteer for the Andrews Food Bank. He married Evelyn Joyce Thoms on April 18, 1970 in Odessa. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce Gunn of Andrews; 3 daughters: Peggy Chew of San Antonio, and Diann Perkins and Della Weaver of Odessa; 1 sister: Jewell Pennington of Lubbock; and 1 grandson: Joseph Weaver of Odessa.

JOYCE HAMMOND

Joyce Ann Hammond, 56, of Andrews, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 at her home in Andrews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. Alvin Petty, Pastor, of Wesley Methodist Church in Andrews, will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Joyce was born October 12, 1949 in McCrory, Arkansas. She married Don Hammond November 10, 1971 in Odessa, and they lived in Kermit. Joyce and Don moved to Andrews, for the first time in 1974. In 1981, they moved back to Andrews, to stay from Cisco, Texas. Joyce and Don owned and operated the Andrews Bowl-A-Rama, bowling alley for many years. Joyce loved spending time with her family, and granddaughter.
She is survived by: her husband - Don Hammond of Andrews three sons - Johnny Woodson of Arkansas, Michael McCabe of Mississippi, and James Hammond of Odessa, Texas; one brother - Bobby Watkins of College Station, Texas; and two sisters- Linda Marsh of College Station and Wanda Valasquez of California; and seven grandchildren.
