DOROTHY SCARLETT CUMMINS
October 13, 2007

Dorothy Scarlett Cummins, 82, of Andrews, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland.

Funeral services will be 10:00 Tuesday, at Andrews Church of Christ. John Snider of Greenwood Church of Christ will officate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born December 30, 1924 in Breckenridge, Texas. She married Dick Cummins November 16, 1946 in Monahans, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2006.

They moved to Andrews, in 1957 from Brownfield.

She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. Dorothy worked for more than 10 years as a Dispatcher for the Andrews County Sheriff Department.

She enjoyed music and crocheting, she also enjoyed visiting her friends and family.

She is survived by one son - Craig Cummins of Andrews; one daughter - Scarlett Lee of Andrews; one brother - Douglas Scarlett of Alaska; one sister - Donna Lee Early of Snyder, Texas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

NORWOOD WOODY SIMMONS
July 18, 2007

Norwood "Woody" Simmons, 75, of Andrews, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

Graveside services will be 4:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2007, at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. Ted M. Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Woody was born January 13, 1932 in Dalhart, Texas, to J.H. and Elsie Golda Simmons. He moved to Andrews, in 1956 from Albany, Texas. He married Yvonne Abney September 1, 1956 and they married a second time October 14, 1985.

He worked for Kirby West for 20 years until he retired in 1992.

He loved to do woodwork and read. Woody also enjoyed drinking coffee.

He is survived by: his wife - Yvonne Simmons of Andrews; two daughters, Sherry Hardy of Andrews; and Candace Carter of Corpus Christi; two sons, Mike Simmons of Mansfield; and Steve Simmons of Lubbock; one brother, Delton Ross Simmons of Midland; and 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

BETTY SCHROEDER
July 15, 2007

Memorial services for Betty Jo Schroeder, 83, of Andrews, will be 4:00 PM, Wednesday, July 18, 2007 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be speaker Dr. Gregory Young of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Betty passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 in Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. She was born on March 5, 1924 in Beggs, Oklahoma. Betty married Ray Schroeder on September 24, 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Betty was a business manager for a restaurant. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include: husband, Ray of Andrews; daughters, Birtie Brannan of Andrews; Delilah Schroeder of Odessa; brother, David Stittsworth, Odessa; and a sister, Mary Pat Uray, Maine; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Margaret June Duncan of Norman, Oklahoma, formerly of Andrews, passed away in Oklahoma Saturday, July 14, 2007.

Services are pending.

OTILIA MADRID
July 9, 2007

Otilia Madrid, 41, of Andrews, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 at Permian Regional Medical Center.

Rosary services will be 7:00 PM Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 Friday, July 13, 2007 at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews, Father Joey Faylona will officiate.

Otilia was born March 6, 1966 in Ojinaga, Mexico. She has been a longtime resident of Andrews.

She loved to shop at Garage sales. She enjoyed picking on people and joking around with them.

She is survived by husband, Greg Madrid of Andrews; daughter, Gracie Madrid; sons, Ivan and Omar Madrid all of Andrews; father, Alfredo Lujan, Sr. of Andrews; brothers, Jose Lujan of New Mexico; Juan Lujan of Andrews; Davis Lujan of Andrews; and Alfredo Lujan, Jr. of Andrews; sisters, Eduvijes Sotello of Mexico; Pilar Rubio of Mexico; and Geneva DelCampo of Andrews.

BOBBY DALE TOMPKINS

Bobby Dale Tompkins, 69, of Andrews, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 at his home in Andrews.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday at Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Rev. Alvin Petty, Pastor of Wesley Methodist Church in Andrews, will officiate.

Bobby Dale was born October 1, 1937 in Idabel, Oklahoma. He moved to Andrews, with his family in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967. He lived in Ft. Stockton from 1960 until he moved back to Andrews, in 1999. He retired with Valero Energy.

He loved his dog, Chester, and he loved to play and watch baseball.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra and Hazel Tompkins.

He is survived by: one sister - Velma Ruth Hancock of Andrews; aunt and uncle - Ruby and Raymond Wortham of Andrews; Aunt Youldean Mays of Franklin, TN; one niece, Deana Ruth Compton; two grand-nieces, Amanda Compton and Lynn Tant; two great-grand-nieces, Tiffani Tant and Shelee Lively; and one great-grand-nephew, Mathew Tant; and longtime friend Lori Diebitsch of Ft. Stockton.

R.D. GREEN
July 6, 2007

Services for R.D. Green 89, of Odessa, formerly of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 9, 2007 in First Baptist Church Chapel in Andrews. Officiating will be Rev. Ivy Shelton, pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

R.D. passed away at his home in Odessa, Friday, July 6, 2007. He was born on April 27, 1918 in Miami, Texas.

R.D. married Valera Davis Worley on October 17, 1995 in Odessa. He was a retired shift operator for Enron.

R.D. was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa.

Survivors include, wife, Valera of Odessa; step-daughter, Doris Miller of Odessa; brothers, Roy Green of Whitter, California; Burl Green of Victoria, Texas; Bob Green of Midland, Texas; sister, Ila Pettitt, Canadian, Texas; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

R.D. was preceded in death by a son; Ronald, daughter; Nell McCoy, brother; Joe Green, sisters; Pauline Ennis, Gola Fay Goodman and Betty Clemmons.

STELLA FAYE TAFF
July 5, 2007

Services for Stella Faye Taff, 73, of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dean Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Stella passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007 in Permian Regional Residential Care Center in Andrews. She was born on March 6, 1934 in Glover, Oklahoma. She married Roy Lee Taff in November 1995. Stella was a homemaker and a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include, husband; Roy Lee of Andrews, daughters; Ann and husband, Dale Gross of Andrews; Joyce Westbrooks of Idabell, Oklahoma; step-daughter, Diane Paxton of St Louis, Missouri; stepson, Brian and wife, Shelly Taff of Andrews, brother; Carl and wife, Kay Flood of Heyworth, Oklahoma; sisters, Francis Tassey and Elvie Knighting, both of Heyworth, Oklahoma, Mary and husband, George Posey of Harris, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Flood, brothers; Harold and Billy Flood and a sister; Verna Lee Horn.

ERNEST H. GARCIA

Ernest Garcia, 49, of Andrews, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday July, 12, 2007 at Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Andrews.

Ernest was born November 7, 1957 in Pecos, Texas. He grew up in Kermit, and was a long-time resident of Andrews, where he worked for Tucker Construction for 28 years.

Ernest was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed watching professional wrestling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Brehida Garcia, and a brother, Gonzalo and a sister, Mary Garcia.

He is survived by: two daughters, Emily Leach, and Angelita Garcia both of Odessa, two sons, Jamie Garcia of Seminole, and Ernest Garcia, Jr. of Andrews; stepchildren, Angela Portillo of Hobbs, NM, Luis Portillo of Andrews, Victoria Guiterrez of Austin, Michael Fowler of Andrews, and Joshua Travino of Andrews, three brothers, Jesse Garcia of San Antonio, Manuel Garcia of New Mexico, and Ray Garcia of Kermit; three sisters, Ambrosia Luna of Dallas, Juanita Garcia of Dallas, Lori Baker of Arizona, and 12 grandchildren.

ARNOLD CLARK
June 27, 2007

Services for Arnold L. Clark, 77, of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Calvary Baptist Church, officiating will be Rev. Bill Melton, pastor and Sam Jones. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Arnold passed away at his home Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He was born on January 16, 1930 in Rossville, Georgia. He married Judy J. Garrison on December 9, 1978 in Andrews. Arnold was a brick mason for many years, he also was a constable for eight years and was still a reserve deputy for Andrews County. Arnold was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Judy of Andrews; daughters, Vivian Chastain of Dallas; Cathy Ammons of Palestine, Texas; Joann Jackson of Burley, Idaho; and Carla Mitchell of Andrews; sons, Allen Clark and David Clark both of Burley, Idaho; and David Schroeder of New Braunfels, Texas; sisters, Wanda Oglesby and Joyce Crabtree, both of Rossville, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
