Rosa Nell Hobbs Trim
1936-2010
Rosa Nell Hobbs Trim of Lakehills, recently of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Oct. 29.
She was born on May 2, 1936, in Fort Necessity, Louisiana, to Eddie Preston Hobbs and Mary Melissa McDonald, who preceded her in death.
On July 25, 1953, she married
Robert Blackburn Trim Sr.
A dedicated wife, loving mother and wonderful grandmother, Mrs. Trim was also a devoted Christian who loved to read her Bible and reflect on God’s word.
In spite of a long illness, her disposition remained cheerful and Mrs. Trim provided inspiration and encouragement to those around her. She was blessed to have her seven children by her side during her final days. Before passing away, Mrs. Trim told her children how proud she was of them and lovingly told them goodbye.
A strong woman who loved, her final words were, “Thank you Jesus!”
Mrs. Trim is survived by her children, Mike Preston Trim and his wife, Diane, of Magnolia; Sharon Diane Jones and her husband, Wayne, of Pipe Creek; Mary Lucille “Lou” Kemp of Abilene; Robert Blackburn Trim Jr. and his wife, Becky, Trim of Richards; Rosa “June” Bradshaw and her husband, Clay, of Fredericksburg; Carl Wayne Trim and his wife, Cheryl Klar-Trim, of Bulverde; and Sandra Renee Trim of Fredericksburg; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blackburn Trim Sr.; two sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera with Ken Vakey and Richard Cobler officiating. Internment followed at Pipe Creek cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Jones, Kevin Ohnheiser, Mike Trim Jr., Cody Jones, David Kemp, Kyle Trim, Marshall Hester, McCade Trim and Matthew Trim.
Arrangements are by Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
Micheal Shane McHorse
1988-2010
Micheal Shane McHorse, 22, of Bandera, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26.
He was born in Dallas on May 15, 1988, to Randy and Terri McHorse.
Micheal played baseball at Bandera High School and later coached a Little League team. His other interests included dancing, skiing and car racing. In addition, he was often invited as a Bandera County Sheriff’s Office’s Explorer.
Micheal is survived by his fiancée, Hazel Goodman and her son, Michael Cayden Patton, of Lakehills; parents, Randy and Terri McHorse, of Pipe Creek; maternal grandparents, Larry and Sheri Wiles of Flagstaff, Arizona; paternal grandfather Ray McHorse and his wife, Corene, of Adkins and brother Justin Wayne McHorse and his wife, Brittanie, of Bandera, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service was held Sunday, Oct. 31, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera with Mr. Martin Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a local Little League team or St. Jude Medical Research.

Evelyn Pauline Steinle
1920-2010
Evelyn Pauline Steinle, 90, of San Antonio, fell asleep in death early Monday, Nov. 29, at Cedar Creek Nursing Center in Bandera where she had been a resident.
She was born to Max and Alma Pressler Moreland on June 2, 1920, in San Antonio. Evelyn’s parents preceded her in death.
After graduating from Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, she attended M&S; School of Nursing and completed her training in 1942. In 1968, Evelyn was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and continued to be active in her faith until her death.
For many years, she created oil paintings of landscapes from across the Texas Hill Country. Her artwork won numerous awards and has been displayed in many local venues.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Judy Wilkirson and her husband, Sid, of Bandera; daughter-in-law Linda Lattin and her husband, Michael, of Spring Branch; brother, Jack Moreland of Uvalde; granddaughters, DeLeene Rick and her husband, Brad, of Bandera, and Cerissa Wilkirson of Houston; great-granddaughter, Sarah Rick of Bandera; nieces Kay Oliphant and her husband, Kenny, of Uvalde and Lee Ann Collier and her husband, Richard, of Concan; and cousins Chuck Kalteyer and his wife, Alicean, of Austin; Charlyne Zirkel and her husband, Raymond, of San Antonio and Medina; Ruth Subramanian and her husband, Mani of Atlanta, Georgia; Margaret Lynch of San Antonio, and the late Marjorie Hunt of Corpus Christi.
Evelyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Steinle; daughter Patti Jo Steinle; and son Bryan Steinle.
Graveside services were held Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at San Jose cemetery in San Antonio.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Cedar Creek Nursing Center and that of VistaCare Hospice for the kind attention and care given to Evelyn.
Edith Faye Carpenter
1926-2010
Edith Faye Carpenter, 84, of Lockhart, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, in Lockhart.
She was born on August 25, 1926, in Coleman County to Oran D. and Artie M. Copeland.
She married
Tom Carpenter August 13, 1963. Her husband passed away Feb. 16, 2009.
Edith is survived by sister Nila Walenta, brother OD Copeland, stepson Tom Carpenter and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at West Prong cemetery in Medina.
Memorials may be given in the name of Edith Faye Carpenter to a charity of choice.

Rodney Cockrell
1957-2010
Rodney Cliff Cockrell, 53, of Bandera, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31, in Bandera.
He was born in Austin, on Dec. 19, 1957, to Allen and Golda Cockrell.
A member of Shepherd’s Gate Church, Rodney also helped with the church’s construction.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Richards, of Bandera; mother Golda Cockrell of San Antonio; daughters, Tina Weissmann and her husband, Robert, of Kileen; Deana Powell of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; and Melinda Richards of Bandera; son Rodney A Cockrell of San Antonio; brothers, Roger Cockrell and his wife, Elizabeth, of San Antonio and Randal Cockrell and his wife, Melanie, of Sugar Land; and grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Shepherd’s Gate Church.

Jon W. Lands
1944-2011
Jon W. Lands, 66, of Lakehills, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, in San Antonio.
He was born in Austin on Feb. 16, 1944, to James and Claudene Lands.
Jon married
Mary Kay Ryan on July 16, 1993, in Kerrville.
Jon was an avid fan of his alma mater, the University of Texas.
A genuine caring man, he never met a stranger and Jon will be greatly missed greatly by the family and friends he so adored.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kay Lands; children, Kristen and Derek Maxey, Kymberli and Rhett Word, Rachel Benner and fiancé Matt Cortinas, Lani Benner, Michael and Jessica Lands, Chris and Ouita Lands, Staci Lands and Skylar Foster and six grandchildren
A funeral mass was held Friday, Jan. 7, at St. Victors Catholic Church in Lakehills.
