Gregory Rex Smith
1958-2014
Gregory Rex "Smitty" Smith of Bandera passed away Saturday, Sept. 20. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 10, 1958, to Peggy S. Smith and Ernest Rex Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Dana Gonzales and her husband, Walter, and son Greg Smith; mother Peggy Smith; sisters, Dana Waggener and her husband, Burns, and Shauna Ulrich and her husband, Loren; and grandchildren, Collin Edwards, Cody Dupnik, Kaleb Dupnik and Kailee Gonzales.
Smitty was predeceased by his daughter, Samantha Lorene Smith; father Ernest Rex Smith; sister Cherilyn Smith McClain; and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, Sept. 25, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera.
Charlton Ernest Albert
1926-2014
Charlton Ernest Albert, 88, of Bandera, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, in Bandera. He was born in Floresville on Sept. 8, 1926, to Karl Christian Albert and Lillie Emilie Maeckel Albert.
Charlton married
Ruby Nell Kothmann on July 27, 1956 in San Antonio.
After attending school in Floresville, he became a successful business owner-partner for over 40 years in the auto service industry. He specialized in front-end alignment and frame straightening.
Throughout his life, Charlton was involved in his church, formerly serving as a council member. Over the past 40 years, he has been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bandera.
Charlton also enjoyed working in his home shop where he built anything and everything. When he was younger, he enjoyed auto racing, boating, and everything else about autos. Charlton also spent hours creating play adventures for his kids - from slot car tables, go-carts and tracks, a skate ramp and much more.
He loved his family and extended family very much and considered Bandera his lifelong home.
Charlton is survived by daughter, Dianne Albert Farmer, and Bryce Farmer; son Sam Charlton Albert; grandchildren, Erika Lynn Farmer and Tex Kerschen, Erin Elaine Ebright and Jim Ebright, Seth Reid Farmer and Sara Bowden Farmer and Dustin Boyd Coss; great-grandchildren, Jude Reid Farmer, Luke Ian Farmer, Samantha Fern Ebright, Eva Cherie Kerschen and Jordan Seth Ebright; sister-in-law Olga Albert; and nieces and nephews, Iris and Bruce Biediger, Kathy Schimcek, Gerald and Cathy Schimcek, and their families.
Charlton was predeceased by his father and mother, Karl and Lillie Albert; sister Eleanor Schimcek; brother Harvey Albert; son Gary Albert; wife Ruby Nell Kothmann Albert; daughter Cindy Albert Coss; and nephew Norwin "Sonny Boy" Schimcek.
Visitation will be 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, Sept. 19, at Grimes Funeral Home in Bandera. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, Sept. 20, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bandera with Pastor Russell Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Bandera cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Schimcek, Tommy Biediger, Nathan Schimcek, Marty Schimcek, Jason Birdwell, Jim Ebright, Seth Farmer and Tex Kerschen.
Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church.

Margaret Louise Peterson
1960-2014
Margaret Louise Peterson, 54, of Pipe Creek, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Bandera. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on March 30, 1960, to Mary Jo Dietrich and William J. Zuercher.
Margaret married
Mark A. Peterson on July 4, 1992 in Fort Worth.
She worked as an apartment manager in San Antonio for 20 years. She was a member of Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Mark A. Peterson of Pipe Creek; sons, Eric Carter and his wife, Kimberly Carter, of Bandera, and Samuel Peterson of Pipe Creek; brothers, Jeff Zuercherof Wichita, Kansas; John Dietrich of Houston and Chris Zuercher of Newton, Kansas; and father William J. Zuercher, also of Newton.
Margaret was predeceased by her mother, Mary Jo Dietrich, and stepfather Dr. Alfred G Dietrich.
A celebration of life will be held at Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church at 4 pm, Sunday, Sept. 21, with Rev. Dr. Victoria Isaacs officiating.
Flowers may be sent to the Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church and memorials given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Charles Henry Boone

Charles Henry Boone, 73, of Tillamook, Oregon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 in a Kerrville care center.
No services will be held at this time.

James Scott Poynter
1950-2014
James Scott Poynter, 68, of The Woodlands, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, in Bandera. He was born in Maitland, Missouri on Sept. 14, 1950, to Eugene and Betty Stone-Poynter.
Due to several family relocations, Scott attended grade school in Iowa, Missouri and Louisiana, graduating from high school in Holton, Kansas in 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and an All-Star in football, basketball and softball.
During the Vietnam War, Scott served in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Morocco. After his discharge, he completed his BS and MBA degrees at Emporia State College in Emporia, Kansas.
Scott worked as an accountant for a number of companies, most recently RSC.
From a young age, Scott loved music. An accomplished musician, he played drums and anything with keys and strings.
Scott is survived by two daughters, Tara Poynter of Conroe, and Amber Mangold and her husband, Paul, of Bandera; son Jacob Britton and his wife, Lauren, of Katy; sister Sharon Offutt and her husband, Darrell, of Sugar Land; father Eugene Poynter of Mound City, Missouri; and grandchildren, Aubrey, Payson, Luke and Makenna.
Scott was predeceased by his brother, Michael Eugene Poynter, and his mother, Betty Stone-Poynter.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 pm, Thursday, Oct. 23, at Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera with services following at 3 pm.
Kenneth Wade "PeeWee" Stroud
1936-2014
Kenneth Wade "PeeWee" Stroud, 78, of Bandera, passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, in Bandera. Kenneth was born August 20, 1936, in San Antonio to Paul and Aileen Stroud.
He worked as a blacksmith and rode bulls and bareback roughstock events at rodeos. Kenneth was a gold cardholder for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
He enjoyed dancing and entertainment and often referred to himself as a "dancehall dandy."
One of the owners of the legendary and original The Bandera Forge, Kenneth loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed. "Yes my life is better left to chance ... I could have missed the pain, but I'd have missed the dance."
In September 2008, Kenneth and his business partner, Joe Reidy, were inducted into the Bandera Music Hall of Fame in the Legendary Venue category.
Kenneth is survived by wife, Carla Stroud, of Bandera; daughter Monte Myers of Conroe; sons, Kenneth Stroud Jr. and his wife, Kathy, and Michael C. Stroud and wife, Cindy, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Paul B. Stroud and his wife, Debbie, of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kasey Stroud, Kimberly Stroud and Kara Harris; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Kenneth's life was held at Bandera City Park on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
