Dorothy Irene Shelton
1919-2015
Dorothy Irene Shelton, 95, of Bandera, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, in Bandera. She was born in Dallas Center, Iowa, on Nov. 28, 1919, to Roy and Leota March.
Dorothy married
Roderick William Shelton on Oct. 10, 1941, in Bakersfield, California.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Elks Lodge. She retired in 2004 to Bandera from Santa Maria, California.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon Clark and her husband, Gary, of Pipe Creek; grandchildren, Kimberly Clark-Prescott and her husband, Kenny, also of Pipe Creek, and Aaron Hudson of Bandera; and great-granddaughter, Sterling Clark.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Roderick William Shelton, who died in October 2013.
Graveside services will be held at the Fort Sam Houston National cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.
Miriam F. Anderson
1926-2015
Miriam F. Anderson, 88, of Lakehills, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, in San Antonio. She was born in Eutaw, Mississippi on March 12, 1926, to John Stokes and Ruth Norwood.
A member of the Pipe Creek Community Church, Miriam was very devoted to her family. She worked as a nurse for many years. Miriam was also a master gardener at the New Orleans Zoo, and her hobbies included sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Fackrell: son Garland M. "Skody" Anderson Jr. of Metairie, Louisiana; sisters, Carolyn Vinson of Brandon, Mississippi; Martha Francis of Maggie Valley, South Carolina; and Ruth Smith of Irvine, California; grandchildren, Pastor David L. Busby of Lakehills; Garland S. "Marty" Anderson; and Amanda B. Edwards of Las Flores, California; and great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Claire, Chloe, Ryan and Elise.
Miriam was predeceased by her husband, Garland M. Anderson, of New Orleans.
A graveside service will be held in Metaire Saturday, Feb. 28, at Garden of Memories with the Pastor Dave Busby officiating.

Roseanne Catherine Hicks
1924-2015
Roseanne Catherine Hicks, 90, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 2, 1924, she was the daughter of John H. and Catherine Walch Cavanaugh.
Roseanne had resided in Boerne since 1977 where she was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, and was active in NARFE, Chapter 778.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, she served during World War II as a WAVE. Roseanne met and married
James Hicks while they both were serving in the Navy.
Her many friends considered Roseanne the "Life of the Party." An artist and a very talented seamstress, she participated in many arts and craft shows over the years. Roseanne will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Hicks; and daughters, Devery Ann Regmund of Boerne, Cathy Wolfington and her husband, Ron, of La Grange; and Linda Gialouris of Corpus Christi, as well as by eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Jim Cavanaugh.
A funeral Mass was held Thursday, Feb. 19 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne with graveside services with military honors following at the Tarpley cemetery.

Dr. Frank S. Moffett
1937-2015
Dr. Frank S. Moffett, 78 of Dilley, died Saturday, Feb. 21, in Dilley.
A 1954 graduate of Dilley High School, Dr. Moffett served in the United States Army from 1956-1964, attaining the rank of captain. After leaving military service, he enrolled at Texas A&I; and 1960 transferred to Texas A&M; were he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1963 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1964. Dr. Moffett was in veterinary practice from 1964 to the present in South Texas. During that time, he actively participated with youth rodeo and junior livestock events, serving as veterinarian for the La Salle Junior Livestock Show.
During his distinguished career, Dr. Moffett also served in many state veterinary medical associations and presented papers at conventions and conferences from Hawaii to Guadalajara, Mexico. In 1974, Dr. Moffett also published a scientific research article in the Journal of Veterinary Medicine, titled "Treatment of Iliac Thrombosis in the Horse," as well as other publications in related magazines.
In addition to being elected as mayor of Dilley for four terms, he served as president of the Dilley Chamber of Commerce, Dilley Lions Club, Dilley Athletic Boosters, Frio County Livestock Show and as a rodeo and football announcer and lay leader at Dilley First United Methodist Church.
For 25 years, Dr. Moffett announced the Wild Hog Cook-off and Ranch Rodeo in La Salle County and staunchly supported the Junior Livestock Show.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Moffett, of Dilley; sons, Brazos Lloyd of Uvalde and Bryan Stokes Moffett and his wife, Danielle, of Georgetown; daughters, Pam Moffett Larison and her husband, Kenneth, of Luling, and Renee Lynn Thomas and her husband, Chris, of Jasper; brother Cliff Moffett of Austin; sister Nancy Dalby and her husband, Jack, of Honaunau, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Dr. Moffett was predeceased by his parents, Ted Moffett Sr. and Theo Lane Moffett; brothers, Bob Moffett, Theodore E. Moffett Jr. and Lane Moffett; and sister Amy Lou Harllee.
Funeral services were held at Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Dilley. Interment followed in the Covey Chapel cemetery in Dilley. Memorials may be given to the Covey Chapel cemetery Association, the Medina Children's Home, or The American Cancer Society.
Gynneth K. Solomon
1934-2015
Gynneth K. Solomon, 80, of Lakehills, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 26. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 6, 1934 to Merle and Clela Smith.

Bobby L. Solomon on Jan. 15, 1956 in Magnolia, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby; children, Michelle Cockerham; Mike Solomon and his wife, Lisa; and Patrick Solomon and his wife, Melanie; brother Ronnie Smith and his wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Makayla Lineberry and her husband, Stephen; Chelsea Solomon, Tyler Snyder and Ryan Solomon; and great-granddaughter Lana Rae Lineberry, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Gynneth was predeceased by her parents and son-in-law Tom Cockerham.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Friday, March 6, at Grimes Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry Street, in Bandera. Graveside services will take place at 3 pm, Saturday, March 7, at Pipe Creek cemetery.
Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.
Linda Jo McGhee
1948-2015
Linda Jo McGhee, 66, of Pipe Creek, was called home by the Lord on Friday, Feb. 20. She was born Dec. 9, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Donald and Bernadine Detjen.
Linda married
Mac McGhee on Sept. 1, 1979 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
In the early 1970s, she worked for the Minnesota Twins baseball team before moving to San Antonio to begin a successful career at USAA where she met her husband, Mac.
After leaving USAA, Linda taught Jazzercise and settled into her life's calling - being a full-time homemaker, mother and teacher.
Foster parents to more than 20 children, Linda and Mac ultimately adopted four to add to Mac's two children. By 1985, the couple had to quit fostering because their house literally was out of room.
Since 1981, Linda served her church, Hill Country Chapel, and Mt. Zion Christian Mission in many capacities - most involved teaching children, which she found very fulfilling. Teaching also offered Linda an opportunity to touch a great many lives.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mac; children, Stacy McGhee Clayton and her husband, Randy; Steven John McGhee and his wife, Christine; Paul Michael McGhee; Christopher James McGhee and his wife, Meredith; Adam Emanuel McGhee; and Sarah Kathleen McGhee; and sister Kathleen Detjen Brothen and her husband, Robert. Linda was also blessed with nine grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly - Spencer and Tristan Clayton; Luke, Kara and Elise McGhee; Christopher McGhee; Celsey McGhee; and Casen and Cenlan McGehee.
Linda was predeceased by her parents and brother Dennis Detjen.
A celebration of her life was held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Hill Country Chapel in Pipe Creek with Pastor Skip Marks officiating. Interment followed at the Pipe Creek cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Linda's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
