James Henry Lewis
James Henry Lewis, 78, died
May 3, 2002, at the Town & Country manor in Boerne. He was born
in Sabinal on Oct. 16, 1923. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Rigsby and Sarah Elizabeth Lewis and one infant son. He served several years in the U.S. Navy and prior to a stroke in 1976, did long haul cattle trucking. He was a long time resident of Uvalde and Leakey. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Theresa Hans Lewis of Bailey, Colo; sons, James Michael Lewis and wife Lee of Pensacola, Fla., Butch Chisum and wife Louann of San Antonio, Danny Allen Lewis and wife Carol of San Jose, Calif., and Hans Rigsby Lewis and wife Valice of Leakey; daughters Patricia Ann Rice and husband Danny (Skip) Rice of Barksdale, Mary Porter and husband Les Porter of Bailey, Colo., Molly Newborn and husband Glen Newborn of Deliner, and Ginger Anderson and husband Lee of Roundrock; brother, Harley Woodward Lewis and wife Mary Ethel Lewis of Almagorda, N.M.; sister, Georgia May Grubbs of Uvalde; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial was Sunday, May 5, in the Jones Cemetery
in Utopia.
Harry 'Doc' Fleming, Jr.
Harry 'Doc' Fleming, Jr. Went to meet the Lord on May 5, 2002, after losing his battle with Alzheimeršs. He was 85 years old. He was born
on August 21, 1916, in Lake Charles, La., to Harry L. Fleming, Sr. And Louise Henrietta See Fleming. His parents and one sister June Keifer preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia Valadez Fleming of Kerrville, formerly of Bandera, whom he married
in 1961; his children, Mela Steimle of California, Jon Anthony Rodriguez of New York, Kelli Marci Fleming of San Antonio, Molly Fleming of Arizona, Rhonda Camille Fleming of Austin, Harry Fleming, III, and wife Dianne of Kerrville and Christine Fleming of Kerrville. Survivors also include his five grandchildren, Michael Conchin of San Antonio, Sonny Reed of San Antonio, Davin Ripley of Lubbock, Meredith Boles of College Station and Haley Fleming of Maine. He had three great grandchildren as well. Mr. Fleming led his life to the fullest. He was a registered pharmacist for 52 years, a qualified airplane pilot and instructor, a race car driver, a chiropractor, homeopathic doctor, and golden gloves hopeful. In addition to those, he also became a policeman and worked as a constable in San Antonio for Precincts 3 and 5, a constable in Bandera County for Precinct 3, served as Police Chief in Elmendorf, owned Twin Security Investigations, and was a patrolman for the City of Grey Forest. Harry had such a love for police work and medicine that he made sure his children were involved in some aspect of each. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. The funeral mass wias scheduled at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, with Rev. Stanley Oleksy, celebrant, followed by burial at the Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ralph Canales, Michael Conchin, Sonny Reed, Tom Foose, Robbie Valadez, Mark Canales and Bobby Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are Ralph Canales, Sr., Gilbert Garcia, Humbert Benavides, Bob Suggs, Jim Angell, Doyle Brooks, Mike Bolton, James McMillan and Bill Ellis. Glenn Scales will play bagpipes. Special thanks to Vista Hospice for their superior care of Harry. They do the job that is the most difficult. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Jessie Lee Sutton
Jessie Lee Sutton, 73, of Medina, died
Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her residence. She was born
July 8, 1928, in Juno to Herman and Nellie Bendele. On Dec. 15, 1946, she married
Jim Sutton in Ozona. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1995. She was a rancher, a member of the American Sheep Industry and the Texas Sheep and Goat Raiseršs, American Quarterhorse, and Cattle associations. Survivors include one daughter, Frances Greer and husband James Leo Greer, III, of Rocksprings; two sons, James Preston Sutton and Wayne Wesley Sutton both of Rocksprings; two sisters, and one brother. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Jo Sutton in 1985. Graveside services were scheduled for Saturday, May 11, at Oak Rest Cemetery
with the Rev. Gerald Evans officiating. Pallbearers were Jack Clark, Ivan Stavinoha, Jim Morriss, Jimmy Greer, Albert Thorn and Wes Cox. Honorary pallbearers were John Burney, Melvin Myers and Junior Briscoe. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jack Graham Ramsey
Mr. Jack Graham Ramsey, age 81, of Pipe Creek and a long time resident of the Boerne area, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. He was born
Aug. 25, 1920, the son of Walter Lynn and Nellie Faye Hayes Ramsey. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during World War II.
Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Sharon Ramsey; sons Mark Ramsey and wife Donna and Jack Ramsey Jr.; grandchildren Holly Ramsey Bell, Briana Ramsey, Shey Lynn Ramsey and Adam Ramsey; great grandchildren Levi and Tucker Bell; sisters Nell Alexander and husband Don and Jody Jenkins. Funeral services were held Friday, June 7, at Vaughan's Funeral Home with Dr. David B. Vaughan officiating. Burial followed in the Boerne Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Mussey, Billy Moore, Amador Lopez, David Malchoff, Curtis Buck and Chad Buck. If so desired, memorials in his name may be made to the Michael J. Leo Henry Meyer
Leo Henry Meyer, 74, of Lakehills, died
at Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins, Colo. On May 13, 2002. He was born
in Postville, Iowa, the son of Helmuth and Florence Eggert Meyer on Sept. 4, 1927. He attended Postville schools and graduated in 1945. He was active in all sports. Mr. Meyer was inducted into the US Army in the Fall, 1945, and served in the US Army of Occupation in Germany, receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1947. Upon returning home he attended the University of Wiscon-sin, Madison, studying Light Building Industry, a division of the School of Architectural Engin-eering. Meyer married
Elinor Englehorn on June 18, 1950, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lansing, Iowa. They are the parents of two daughters, Valerie Girard (Anthony) of Albuquerque, N.M. and Jodi Meyer, San Antonio. Mr. Meyer spent a lifetime in the building materials trade, managing retail lumber yards in East Dubuque, Ill. And Oregon, Ill. In 1956 he moved to Phoenix, Ariz. where he sold building materials for US Gypsum Co. and Wholesale Lumber for Kaibab Lumber Co. and American Forest Products. Upon retiring he began Meyer Inspection Service in San Antonio and did home inspections in the area of 15 years. He was a respected business man and leaves many friends in the building trades. In 1993 he moved to Lakehills on Medina Lake and built his retirement home. Summers for the next nine years were spent at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park, Colo., where he was a valued employee and friend to all. Mr. Meyer was a lifelong devout Lutheran presently belonging to Grace Lutheran Church of Bandera. He was also a member of the Davy Crockett Masonic Lodge, San Antonio, and the Hoo-Hoo Club Lumbermen's Fraternity. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elinor; daughters, Jodi Meyer and Valerie Girard; sisters Doris Embretson and husband Paul, and Mary Thompson Allen, both of Springfield, Mo. Also three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held on May 14, at the Hyde Chapel, YMCA of the Rockies. Additionally, a service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church of Bandera on July 28, at 3 p.m. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa, on Aug. 9. Katherine B. Jones
Katherine B. Jones, 82, of Bandera, died
on May 27, 2002. She was born
Dec. 11, 1919 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Frank Mix and Mary Olivera Mix. On May 16, 1942, she married
Charles F. Jones, Sr., a first sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Force, stationed at Wheeler Field. Both were survivors of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Her husband and a son, Charles F. Jones, Jr., preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Durk Jones of Corpus Christi and Kathi Vander Zee of Bandera; two sisters, Faye Young of Hawaii and Lavina Galbraith of California; and nine grandchildren, Krishna Weltens of Bandera, Tasha Carter of Brownwood, Jacob Vander Zee of Bandera, Terri Real of San Antonio, Kerri Trainer of San Antonio, Dana Hilton of Corpus Christi, Kevin Jones of West Virginia, Leanda DeDonder of Missouri, and Kristen Jones of Corpus Christi. She has 15 grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bandera.
Her memorial service was held Saturday, June 1, with Reverend Frank Pullin officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to Peterson Hospice of Kerrville for their wonderful assistance and support.
Jennie Teague
Jennie V. Teague, 63, died
on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at a Bandera care center in Bandera. She was born
on Nov. 16, 1938 to George Calvin Teague and Octavia Genell Teague in West Field. Survivors include three sons, James Teague and wife Denise of Costa Mesa, Calif., Daniel Teague and wife Nelda of Arlington, and Larry Marchand and wife Patricia of Mesquite; four brothers, David Teague and wife Shirley of Bandera, Charles Teague and wife Betty of Kerrville, James Teague of Houston, and Joseph Teague; two sisters, Betty Jalufka of Kennedy and Mary. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was loved by many family and friends and will be greatly missed. The family appreciates Vista Care Hospice for all their help and support. Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Bandera Cemetery
with Rev. Janet Hunter officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wright's Funeral Parlor.
