RAY A. BOYCE
Ray A. Boyce, 65, of Lubbock died
Sept. 5 in Lubbock.
He was born
June 8, 1938 in Kendall County, to the late Ray Boyce and Charlotte Hubble Boyce.
He graduated from Abernathy High School in l957 and then moved to Lubbock.
He married
Mary Hill on June 23, 2000 in Bandera County.
He was a master plumber, and worked as a heating and air conditioning contractor for 35 years before retiring in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Doug Boyce.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Boyce of Lubbock, sons, Ricky and Curtis Boyce of Lubbock, Shannon Boyce of Kerrville, Larry Plunkett of Brownfield, and Jason Plunkett of Tyler, daughters, Treva Thomasson, Shanda Krause and Cindy Gray all of Lubbock, 11 grandchildren, brother, Larry Boyce of Lubbock and sister, Kay Johnson of Houston.
Graveside services were Monday, Sept. 8, at Peaceful Gardens cemetery
in Woodrow, with Bill Pruitt officiating.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
JACKIE DALE LOCKHART
Jackie Dale Lockhart, 58, died
Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Mr. Lockhart, a resident of Bandera the past 18 years, was born
in Vallejo, California, to Jack and Virginia (Crim) Lockhart on Aug. 26, 1945.
From 1963 until 1966, he served his country in the U. S. Navy, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a race horse trainer in this area.
On Dec. 30, 2001, in Bandera, he married
Vicki Hall, who survives him.
Other survivors include daughters, JoEtta Scouten of Brunswick, Maine and Beverly Blake of Bandera, sisters, Tina Urigas and husband, Joe, of Bandera, Jacklyn McKinney and husband, Rob, of Ozona, and Virginia Lockhart of Houston, brothers, Calvin Lockhart and wife of Houston and Tony Franklin of Austin; a grandson, Reed Blake of Bandera; and nephews, Jack and Calvin Lee of Ozona.
A memorial service was at the Beverage Barn Pavilion in Bandera Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 with Chaplain Mike Bingaman officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
VIRGIL DABNEY
Virgil C. Dabney passed away on Sept. 28 at age 103.
He was born
on Dec. 2, 1899 at Colony (Flatonia), Texas to James Thomas and Fannie Estelle Taylor Dabney.
Mr. Dabney is preceded in death by his wife Katie Mae Wilcox Dabney and his grand daughter, Leah Kay Dabney.
He is survived by his sons Robert C. and Thomas W. Dabney and their wives Bobbie Jean and Joy, five grandchildren, Michael, Stephan and Travis Dabney and Molly Carlson and Tracey Carlson and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dabney was a 1923 graduate of Texas A&M; University.
He taught engineering drawing, machine design, architectural drawing and wood shop at San Jacinto High School in Houston for 38 years and was known as a "strong disciplinarian" and a "teacher of values", particularly by his Almeda boys.
He and Katie Mae, his wonderful wife and supporter for 63 years, retired to farming and ranching in Bandera County in 1965.
He continued after her death in 1991 until age 97.
The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Interment will be at Anahuac cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Texas A&M; Corps of Cadets Association Scholarship Program, P. O. Drawer C-10, College Station, TX 77844-9030 or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at the VA Hospital in Kerrville for all the love and care given to their Dad.
MRS. VIVIAN KNEIP
Mrs. Vivian Kneip, 82, of Kerrville passed away Monday, Sept. 22 in a Cuero Hospital.
She was born
June 19, 1921 near Fredericksburg.
She was married
to Mathias "Bud" Kneip for over fifty years.
Vivian was a long time resident of Kerrville and an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vivian was also a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and recipient of the Order of the Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband - Mathias "Bud" Kneip, son, Ralph Garrett of Taft and grandson Dustin Keese of Medina.
Survivors include her son, Nathan Garrett and his wife Martha of Cuero; two daughters, Judy Reid and her husband Denny of Flower Mound and Lori Vestal and her husband Carl of Medina; daughter-in-law, Mary Garrett of Taft; two sisters, Helen Nelson of Kerrville and Betty Bernhard of Kerrville; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Deni Garrett, Todd Sutherland, Scott Garrett, Ryan Sutherland, Steve Garrett and Cole Keese.
Honorary pallbearers are Milton Bernhard, Roy Nelson, Fred Hannemann and Wilburn Peese.
Services will be Thursday Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 624 Barnett, Kerrville, TX 78028.
