J. D. Starnes, Jr.
Joel Dow Starnes, Jr. "J.D." passed away on Saturday, Aug. 7 due to an untimely traffic accident.
J. D. was born in Rankin, Texas on July 28, 1936 to Joel D. Starnes, Sr. and Edith Harris Starnes. He attended school in Rankin until his family moved to Fort Worth in 1946. Five years later they moved to Midland where J.D. graduated from Midland High School. He proudly served his country while stationed in Germany in the U.S. Army. J.D. then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and obtained a law degree at the South Texas School of Law in Houston.
J.D. returned to Midland in 1969 and worked with his father at Permian Abstract Company until his father's death in 1971, when J.D. assumed control. He acquired many title companies throughout his life in numerous counties in Texas including Medina, Gillespie, Bandera, Kinney & Howard. J.D. sold Permian Abstract in 2002 and focused his energies on West Texas Abstract in Big Spring.
Dow (as all his family called him) enjoyed playing golf, attending Midland High baseball games and drinking coffee with his buddies. One of his personal goals was obtaining his private pilots license and he loved being able to fly to his various businesses around the state and to his retreat at Leakey.
Dow most enjoyed spending time with his family and he was proudest of his two wonderful children and their accomplishments in their education, careers and families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his big sister, Joanne Starnes Langston.
Dow is survived by his son, Dr. Joel D. Starnes, III, wife Janelle and their children Drake and Mitchell of Lubbock, TX; daughter Stephanie Corwin, husband Steve, and their daughter, Katelyn, of McKinney, TX; sister Jean Starnes of Midland and brother, Jon Harris Starnes and wife Terry of Austin. He also leaves eight nieces and nephews and ten grand-nieces/nephews.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12 at Ellis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, Texas. Call 432-683-5555.

Danny Ray Bulsterbaum
Danny Ray Bulsterbaum, age 49, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in a San Antonio hospital. He was born July 20, 1955, in Denver City, Texas, to Jimmy Fred Bulsterbaum and Bonnie F. Bone Bulsterbaum.
Danny was a member of the Catholic church, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, served on St. Phillips Community College Board for Machinists, worked for Meyer Machine Company for 12 years and he was an avid hunter.
Survivors include his wife Debbie of San Antonio; Mother, Bonnie Towers of Pipe Creek; Father-i-law, Wesley Van Matre, Jr.; two sons, Danny Bulsterbaum, Jr. And Keith Shane Bulsterbaum, both of Pipe Creek; two brothers, Kenneth Bulsterbaum of Port Lavaca and Bobby Bulsterbaum of Corpus Christi. He was preceded in death by his father Jimmy Bulsterbaum and step-father Richard Towers.
A Rosary was recited Aug. 12 in Grimes Chapel with Bobby Stein officiating.
Services were Aug. 13 at Grimes Chapel, with Father Stan Oleksy, officiant. Interment followed in Pipe Creek cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Baker, Dan Butts, J. T. Turner, Keith Riley, Reyes Caballero, and Phil Martin. Honorary Pallbearers were Carroll Fries, Marlin Roden, Russell Bone, Ray Polensky, William Bone and Steven Van Matre.

LOIS JEAN PORTER
Mrs. Lois Jean Porter, age 53, of Bandera, died on Saturday, Aug, 14, 2004, in a San Antonio hospital. Mrs. Porter, a resident of Bandera for eight years and a prior resident of Baytown, was born on May 20, 1951, in Baytown, Texas, to Milton Arvis Jackson and Lucille Irene Franta Jackson.
She married
Danny Lee Porter in Baytown, Texas, in 1971. Lois was a housekeeper at the Bandera Lodge.
Survivors, Husband, Danny Lee Porter of Bandera; Mother, Lucille Jackson of Baytown; Son, Sheridan Porter of Bandera; Two sisters, Norma Jean Meadows of Dayton and Debra Mires of La Porte; Three brothers, Leonard Jackson of Baytown, David Jackson of Reno, Nevada and Bobby Ray Jackson of La Porte.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

S. WARD MC COLLOUGH
Mr. S. Ward McCollough, age 90, of Medina, died on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in a Kerrville hospital. Mr. McCollough, a resident of Medina for 28 years and a prior resident of Dickinson, Texas, was born on Aug. 19, 1913, in Chicora, Pa., to Olive Merle McCollough and Elizabeth Hannah Garing McCollough.
He served as a Corporal during World War II, in the United States Army. He married
Elva Powell on Sept. 21, 1939, in Butler, Pa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2001.
Ward was co-founder of Mineral Oil Refining Company and had been employed for ten years with Pennsylvania Refining Co. He was a member of the Medina United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, Medina Masonic Lodge #1319, Past District Deputy Grand Master, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, York Rite Mason, Red Cross Constantine, Texas Manufacturing Association, the N.R.A. and was president of the Dickinson School Board for 12 years.
Survivors, Daughter, Janice K. McCollough of Los Angeles, California; Sons, Lee W. McCollough and wife Donna of Dickinson and Dr. Randy F. McCollough and wife Paula of San Angelo; Sister, Beryle E. Edwards of Chicora, Pa.; Brothers, Alfred H. McCollough of Punta Gorda, Florida, Rev. Edward C. McCollough of Warren, Pa., and Stanley A. McCollough of Chicora, Pa.; Grandchildren, Marla Leissner and husband Taft, Brian W. McCollough, Nicole E. McCollough, Jennifer E. McCollough, Whitney Parrish, Scott A. McCollough, Anne M. McCollough and Samuel Ward McCollough.
The family will receive friends from 4- 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera.
Funeral services were on Aug. 16 at the Medina United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harold Zirkel and Rev. Bill Steyemueller, officiating. Interment followed at Oak Rest cemetery in Medina with grandchildren as pallbearers.

THOMAS PATRICK SHARP
Mr. Thomas Patrick Sharp, age 53, of Kerrville, died on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, in a Kerrville hospital. Thomas, a resident of Kerrville since 1982 and a prior resident of Hondo, was born on Feb. 16, 1951, in New York City, N.Y., to Jack Dan Sharp and Josephine Lorraine Schiffers Sharp. They preceded him in death.
He married
Donna Breiten in Hondo, in August 1973, where they lived until the family moved to Kerrville in 1982.
Tom had a 25-year career with Ford dealerships where he received numerous awards for excellence and outstanding achievement in service and parts management.
He was employed by James Avery Craftsman for five years before he was forced to retire due to illness.
Tom was instrumental in forming Cub Scout Troop 139, where he went on to serve as scoutmaster for several years. He was a lifetime member of NRA and was involved with the 4-H Rifle Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors, Wife, Mrs. Donna Sharp of Kerrville; daughter, Abby Christine Sharp of Kerrville; son, Joshua Thomas Sharp and wife Brandy Raina of Kerrville; aunt, Doris Koch of Conroe; two grandchildren, Jackson Thomas Sharp and Autumn Christine Sharp; numerous cousins.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m., Aug. 18 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Magarita Rodriguez
Mrs. Margarita Rodriguez, age 75, of Bandera died on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in a San Antonio nursing center. Funeral services for Mrs. Rodriguez are pending and when completed will be announced by Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.
Randall Hudson
Randall Hudson, 56 passed away Sept. 26, 2004, and sleeps in the arms of our Lord. His father, Ben Hudson, precedes him in death. He is survived by his son Chris Hudson of Lago Vista; his mother Marie Bohanon of Lago Vista; sister, Elaine Wilson of Bandera; brothers Glenn Hudson of Calif., Sidney Hudson of Cincinnati; Gary Hudson of Lago Vista; Bobby Hudson of South Carolina and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Randall served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and spent his career as a barber in and around San Antonio.
He was buried at H. Sam Houston National cemetery with Military Honors. Hill Crest Funeral Homes of San Antonio was in charge of arrangements.
A.B. "SKEETS" SINGLETON
Graveside service for A.B. "Skeets" Singleton, 81, of Tarpley; who died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in a San Antonio hospital, were held Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004. at the Tarpley cemetery with Mr. Ron Briley officiating. On March 4, 1923 in Stephens, GA he was born to Crayton Waymon and Mary Etta (Massengill) Singleton. In Corpus Christi, on Jan. 7, 1943 he married
Bobby Louise Word, who preceded him in death on April 9, 1995. On June 30, 1961, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a warrant officer with 20 years of service to his country. He was a master electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Almost 25 years ago he and his wife moved to Tarpley to make their home and he had been in charge of the Volunteer Fire Department at Rio Hondo subdivision. A grand daughter, Marci Singleton in 1988, his parents, four brothers, and a sister also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Jeri Faladeau of Tarpley; three sons and their wives: Leonard B. Singleton and Mary of Charleston, S.C., Richard D. Singleton and Donna of New Braunfels; and Byron C. Singleton and Sharon of Smithville; eight grandchildren, Ginni Dingledein, Alan Singleton, Kaci Singleton, Harla Singleton, Derek Falardeau, Dustin Singleton, Amber Singleton, and Brandon Singleton; two great grandsons, Kurt and Kyle Dingeldein; and a sister, Madge Chambers of Connecticut.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ZONA MAY CLICK
Zona May Click, was born Dec. 24, 1911 and passed into the loving hands of The Lord Jesus on Oct. 3, 2004 at the age of 92 years in Fredericksburg.
Her caring presence will be greatly missed by all. Zona May (Aunt Polly) or Granny was a woman of great compassion, a very strong character and very generous. She loved The Lord Jesus, being a housewife and a mother, reading poetry, a good clean house, gardening, flowers, and working with her husband, Jake on several Hill Country ranches. Her family was very important too. She and J.P. (Jake) were married
Nov. 19, 1931. They were married
55 years.
She was born at the Crockett Community on the West Prong of the Medina River and went to school at Crockett School with her brothers and sisters, Harvey, Arthur, Heman, Calvin, Edith, Bert, and Jewell, who all preceded her in death. Her husband, Jake, passed away in 1986 and son, Jim, passed away in 1997.
She is survived by her daughter, Jo Nell and husband, Melvyn Britt; grandson, Shane and Therese Britt; two great grandchildren, Little Shane and Lilly: sister, Verna Evans of Brady and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Fredericksburg.
Services were Oct. 6 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, officiated by Pastor Ed Giese and Pastor Dave Ebert. Interment will follow at Oak Rest cemetery in Medina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
