Caitlyn Elaine Gossett

Caitlyn Elaine Gossett, 9, of Pipe Creek, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19. She was born in Fort Benning, Georgia, on March 22, 2004, to Michael Scott and Jennifer Rebecca Gossett.
Caitlyn attended fourth grade at Hill Country Elementary School in Pipe Creek.
She is survived by her parents, Scott and Jennifer Gossett, of Pipe Creek; grandparents, Mike and Bobbie Gossett and Dennis and Rebecca Johnston, all of Ruidoso, New Mexico; great-grandparents, Frances and Ron Wrenn of Ruidoso; Peggy Gossett of Quanah; and Stephanie Johnston of Morrisville, Pennsylvania; sisters, Alexis and Abigail Gossett of Pipe Creek; and brother John Gossett of Pipe Creek.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Pipe Creek Community Church with Pastor Dave Busby officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Caitlyn Gossett Memorial Fund at Bandera Bank.

Pandora Marcelina McDowell-Tranowski
1965-2012
Pandora Marcelina McDowell-Tranowski, 47, of Eglin, passed away on Friday, April 13, at home. She was born in Inglewood, California to Richard Marney and Margaret Allen on March 30, 1965.
Pandora is survived by her mother, Margaret Allen of Bandera; sons, Jeremy Dinieri and his wife, Andrea, of Austin, and Wesley McDowell of Bandera; and brothers, Stanley Tranowski of Bandera and Wally Tranowski and his wife, Susan, of Guam.
She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Rose.
A visitation was held at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera on Wednesday, April 18, with a burial at Bandera cemetery on Thursday, April 19.

Turner Bernard Blakeney
1927-2012
Turner Bernard "T" Blakeney, 84, passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 17, at his home in Bandera. He was born on Nov. 30, 1927 in Mobile, Alabama to Lemuel and Helen Blakeney.
Turner loved his family, friends, his dog, and, most especially, hunting and fishing. He retired from the Civil Service on Dec 31, 1983 after 35 years.
Particularly noteworthy are the commendations he received for meritorious contributions to the United States Air Force and the Republic of Vietnam in the final days of April 1975. Turner also received an Operation Peacehawk commendation for laudable service to the Peacehawk Division for his work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen from December 1975 through December 1983.
Turner is survived by his children, Deborah and her husband, George; Pamela and her husband, Howard; Dudley and his wife, Emily; and Mark and his wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Corrie, Stephen, Katy, John, Tyler and Graham; and great-grandchildren, Killian, Isolde and Edward.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Glory Blakeney; two precious grandsons, Carson Blakeney and Jordan Blakeney; brothers, Thomas and David; and his parents.
Services were held at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, on Saturday, April 21. A visitation preceded the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Turner's memory to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville 78028.

James William Arnce
1925-2012
James William Arnce, 87, of Vanderpool, passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, in Kerrville. He was born on August 19, 1925, in Prosperity, Missouri to Ervin William and Edith Euraine Schaeffer Arnce.
On November 5, 1949, Mr. Arnce married
Florene Polvado in Stevensville, Arkansas.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded three Bronze Stars for his bravery during the European Campaign.
Mr. Arnce attended college in Joplin, Missouri with a major in pre-med. An ordained minister, he also attended seminary in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
He worked for Dupont Chemical in Missouri before transferring to Dupont in Beaumont. Mr. Arnce retired from Dupont Chemical after 37 years. He was also a very talented artist.
Survivors include his wife, Florene Polvado Arnce, of Vanderpool; daughters, Glenda Slaughter and her husband, Thomas, of Vanderpool, and Kathy Johnson and her husband, Craig, of Bryan; sister Elois McClung of Joplin; grandchildren, Nicholas Swift and his wife, Amanda; Jennifer Skrabanek; Meghann Skrabanek; and Christopher Johnson; and great-grandchild Hayden Skrabanek.
Mr. Arnce was predeceased by his parents, daughter Judy Skrabanek in 2009 and three brothers, Clifford, Robert "Bob" and Harvey Arnce.
A graveside service was held at Vanderpool cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Arnce's name to the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center at www.mdanderson.org, or to the Shriners organizations at www.shrinersinternational.org.

Bobby Joe Elliott
1932-2012
Bobby Joe Elliott, 79, transferred his membership from the Church Militant on earth to the Church Triumphant in Heaven on Wednesday, March 14. He was born May 30,1932, in Turkey, Texas.
Bobby Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1973. After retiring from the USAF, he received an electrician associate degree from St. Phillips College in San Antonio and worked as an electrician for the University of Texas San Antonio Health Science Center.
In his spare time, Bobby Joe was an active member of Lakehills United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Lakehills Volunteer Fire Department. A horseman, he shared many hours enjoying his horses with his wife, Pam, and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of Lakehills; daughters, Rebecca S. Elliott Veliz and her husband, John, of San Antonio; and Cynthia Lusk and her husband, Charles, of New Mexico; grandchildren, Erin and Charles; and great-grandchildren; son Tommy Elliott of New Mexico; sister, Shirley Elliott Rogers and her husband, Jack, of Indiana; and brother Willie D. "Bill" Elliott Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Louisiana, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Bobby Joe was predeceased by his parents, Willie D. and Eula Mae Alsup Elliott; brothers, Richard L., James D., Samuel R., and L.Van Dyke; and sister Mary Elliott Fair.
Services were held Tuesday, March 20, at Lakehills United Methodist Church with interment following at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery, San Antonio.

Theodore R. 'Ted' Freeman Jr.
1931-2013
Theodore R. "Ted" Freeman Jr. passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Dec. 4. He was born Jan. 8, 1931 in Leicester, North Carolina, the oldest son and second child of Theodore R. Freeman Sr. and Belva Gosnell Freeman.
In September 1947, Ted met the love of his life at the Rollerdrome in Asheville, North Carolina. He married
Marilyn Forbes on June 4, 1949 in Dunn, North Carolina.
Ted proudly served in the United States Army from 1949 until being honorably discharges in 1952 at the rank of corporal. He moved his family to San Antonio in 1952.
For many years, Ted worked in the automobile industry in the Alamo City, becoming the manager of the Main Lincoln Mercury dealership.
After moving on to real estate, he owned San Antonio Real Estate until his retirement.
A loving husband and father, Ted's family was the focus of his life. He was also a great outdoor enthusiast whose hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening. An honest, simple man, Ted enjoyed sitting on the front porch smoking his pipe and watching the day go by.
"He's good to ride the river with" was one of his favorite quotes, meaning the person was reliable and could be counted on.
Ted is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son Theodore R. Freeman III of Austin; daughter Sheila Freeman Tobin and her husband, Phillip, of Bandera; sisters Wanda Fisher and her husband, Ralph; Beatrice Guthrie and her husband, Jimmy; and Laura Louise White and her husband, Bobby, all of North Carolina; brother Lattie Anson Freeman and his wife, Ann, also of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother Robert Freeman.
Ted's family would like to offer special thanks to Larry Hooker and the staff of Harbor Hospice for their care and support.
Graveside services were held at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio on Wednesday Dec. 11, under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home.
John Babel, Mike Freeman, Patrick Henry, Larry Hooker, Robert Smith and Phillip Tobin were honored to serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted's name may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, Harbor Hospice, cancer research or to a charity of choice.
