Ann Barber Guilott
1928 – 2017
Ann Barber Guilott passed away at her residence on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Ms. Guilott was born in Vicksburg, MS, on July 5, 1928. She was raised in Baton Rouge, LA where she attended high school and college. She and her late husband, Clyde Guilott, raised their two children in Lake Charles, LA. In 1968, the young Guilott family vacationed at a Bandera area Dude Ranch and fell in love with the Texas Hill Country, so in 1973 Ann moved making Bandera her permanent home.
Ann was a gifted artist, but was also known for her enjoyment of world travel, her unfaltering love for her children and a fondness for animals. She had many friends and will be missed.
Ann Barber Guilott is survived by her daughter, Gay Guilott of Bandera; son, Robert Guilott; daughter-in-law, Caroline; granddaughter, Sarah Guilott of Lake Charles, LA; sister, Sue Boxill of Brevard, NC.
The Guilott Family wishes to thank the staff of Alamo Area Home Hospice, and all of the doctors, nurses and care-givers who provided for Ann during her prolonged illness. A special thank you goes to Tina Leggett for being there at the end. The family wishes to extend their abiding gratitude to Claudia Fuentes, who for seven years provided the love, care, generosity and attention that enabled Ann to remain at home.
A celebration of life will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera, Saturday, Jan. 14 at 11 am.
Those who desire may make a memorial gift in Ann's memory to the charity of one's choice.
Gary W. Chesnut
1943 – 2017
Gary W. Chesnut, 73, of Boerne, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6, in Boerne.
He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Wayne C. and Winifred L. Chesnut on May 21, 1943. He Married Bernice R. Klein on April 7, 1975 in Odessa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Louise Chesnut; daughters, Barbara and Brenda Chesnut; and his sons, Jason Chesnut and Quincey Skinner.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Melissa Gulley and Gwen Davis; sons, Ronnie Chesnut, Rockey, Chris, Lonnie and Ronnie Skinner; sister, Wylene Brown and her husband, Jerry; brother, Troy Chesnut and his wife, Karen and numerous grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera.
Dave Burrel
2016
Dave Burrel, local historian and passionate supporter of Bandera’s involvement on the Western Cattle Trail passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 following an accidental fall on Christmas Eve.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road San Antonio, TX 78209.

Emmett Neal Dalton
1930 – 2017
Neal Dalton, 86, of Bandera, passed away on Friday, Jan. 6 in Boerne.
He was born in Murray, KY to Henry E. and Verna Dalton on November 4, 1930.
He Married Helen Carr on October 30, 1953 in San Antonio.
Neal graduated from Bandera High School, class of 1949 and was voted Senior Class Favorite. He was a teacher with the North East Independant School Dist. in San Antonio, for 30 years and went on to be the Valentine King at the nursing home.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Helen Dalton who passed in 2012.
Neal is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Dalton and Camille Fusselman and her husband, Bob; grandchildren, Kathleen, Marianne, Laura and Frank; great grandchildren, Bryson and Leo.
A Memorial Rosary will be held at 5 pm, Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera and will be followed by a visitation.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Assumption Chapel, St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National cemetery with Military Honors for family members and those who wish to attend.

Henry Rugeley Ferguson
1930 – 2017
Henry Rugeley Ferguson, a cowboy, rancher, capitalist, hunter, friend, beloved father and husband, passed away on Monday, Jan. 2 at the age of 86.
He was born on April 11, 1930, in Houston, Texas to William Brownlee Ferguson Jr. and Mary Le Tulle Rugeley. He attended Sewanee Military Academy, where in his senior year, he was one of six elite cadets on the Battalion Staff. Rugeley attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In the summer after his fourth year at UT, he was drafted and never returned to finish his degree. He entered the US Army and was stationed at Inchon, Korea in '53-'55. Rugeley was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and retired in the reserves with a rank of Captain. He returned to Texas and managed the family ranch in Bay City. During this time he became a professional Bronc rider and rode the rodeo circuit. On March 30, 1963, Rugeley married
Kittie West Nelson, the love of his life. They had two children, Kittie West Ferguson, November 27, 1963 and Henry Rugeley Ferguson, Jr. December 18, 1964.
Throughout his life, family was his priority but Rugeley had many other interests. He managed Hashknife Ranches consisting of over 20,000 acres of cattle, farming and hunting operations. Conservation and improvement were his priorities. He bred and raised horses and continued riding well into his 60s. Rugeley attended the Bexar County Sheriff's Training Academy to become a Special Texas Ranger. He worked with the Rangers when they had cases in and around San Antonio. Rugeley was a Wedgewood collector. His personal collection is on loan to the San Antonio Museum of Art. He was a hunter but mostly enjoyed taking people hunting. Rugeley became a scuba diver and logged over 100 hours underwater while traveling with his family on their many trips to the Caribbean. He enjoyed to travel, was an artist, loved to talk and laugh. He was a gentleman and met no one that was not a friend.
Rugeley served as a Director of the Texas Agribusiness and Port City Stockyards Companies in Houston, Texas for many years. He was a Director of Scobey Moving and Storage Company in San Antonio for ten years. Rugeley also served on the Boards of the San Antonio Zoological Society as President and Chairman, Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital Foundation as President, Sunshine Cottage School for the Deaf, San Antonio Museum Association, Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research, Charity Ball Association and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. He was the co-founder of The Exotic Wildlife Association. Rugeley was a member of the Former Texas Rangers Association, Game Conservation International, San Antonio Country Club, The Argyle Club, Club Giraud, The St. Anthony Club, Petroleum Club of San Antonio, The Order of the Alamo and The San Antonio German Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Brownlee Ferguson Jr. and Mary Le Tulle Rugeley. His beloved brother William Brownlee "Bill" Ferguson III and his wife of 38 years, Kittie West Nelson.
Rugeley is survived by his daughter Kittie West Ferguson; son, Henry Rugeley Ferguson Jr. and wife, Pagent; his grandchildren Reese Payton Ferguson and Presley Ann Ferguson. He was ecstatic to know that he has a grandson on the way.
The Rev. Patrick Gahan officiated at a service Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Christ Episcopal Church. Interment with Military Honors followed in San Antonio at Mission Park South. Pallbearers were Richard Spencer Rowland, Desmond Helme Kittelson, Edward J. Dahl, William D. Chandler, Michael Jureczki and Edward Neihaus.

Robert John Sheehan, Jr.
1943 – 2016
Robert John Sheehan, Jr. age 73 of Lakehills, passed into the world of light on Monday, Dec. 26 at his home in Lakehills. He was born in Whitehall, NY to Elizabeth and Robert John Sheehan on February 19, 1943.
He was married
to Lou-Ann Maria Sheehan on June 20, 1962 in Elkton, MD. He went to school in Whitehall, NY.
He served in the United States Army for two years then served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, in which at that time, he bravely served in the Vietnam conflict.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Peggy Sue Burge, who past into the world of light on October 7, 2006.
Sheehan is survived by his wife, Lou-Ann Maria Sheehan; his son, Robert John Sheehan III; and daughter, Mary M. Case; two sisters, Elizabeth Howe and Sara Simpson both of upstate New York; eight grandchildren, Sherri Shinn, Aaron Franklin, Katie Burge, Tyler Valigura, Megan Valigura, Connor Sheehan, Ashton Sheehan and Kaden Sheehan; three great-grandchildren, Jacobi Valigura, Jackson Valigura and Evan Summers.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be hosted by the Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department at their station on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 pm.
The family would like to send special thanks to Alamo Hospice, also, a most heartfelt thank you to his nursing team Tina Leggett and Christel Myrick.
