Hensley H. Mitchell Jr.
Hensley H. Mitchell Jr., 55, died
Friday, Oct. 26, 2001. He was born
on Sept. 3, 1946 to Hensley Mitchell Sr. and Anna Mae Lutringer Mitchell in El Campo, Texas. He worked for Bandera County as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He also served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He married
Judith Storms on March 5, 1983 in Medina. He is survived by his wife of Medina; one son, Keith Allen Mitchell of Bandera; one stepdaughter, Wanda Kaye Obiedo of Bandera; two sisters, Debra Orr of El Campo and Pamela Kalinowski of Hungerford, Texas; four grandchildren, Amber Obiedo of Medina, Elaina Mitchell of Bandera, Jonathan Obiedo of Bandera, and Ashley Obiedo of Spring Branch, Texas; one great-grandchild, Adrian Obiedo of Medina; two nieces and two nephews. Many loved ones and friends will miss him. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 at Wright's Funeral Parlor in Bandera. Graveside services followed at Oak Rest cemetery
in Medina, with full military honors. Pastor Jim Haynes officiated.
Raymond Clark
Raymond Lee Clark, 75, of Bandera, died
Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 in a Comfort Rehabilitation Center. He was born
June 25, 1926 in Bandera to Harry and Bessie Chapman Clark. Mr. Clark was a retired Master Plumber, having worked in the business over 50 years, and was a member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local Union #142 in San Antonio. He published poetry in the Kerrville and Bandera area publications for the last 20 years. Survivors include four daughters, Martha Weynand of San Antonio, Mary Welch and husband Reggie of Bandera, Debbie Findley and husband Larry of Rockport, and Shannon Warnke and husband Mike of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three sons Glenn Clark and wife Noahlene of Bandera, Eddie Clark and wife Rose of San Antonio, and Bobby Clark and wife Melonie of Bandera; two sisters, Mildred Mask and husband Ed of Comfort and Louise Taulbee and husband Dale of Kerrville; three brothers, Weldon Clark and wife Esther of Missouri, Melvin Clark and wife Ann of Kerrville, and Gene Clark and wife Mary of California; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife Betty Turnipseed Clark preceded him in death in December 2000. Services were held Thursday, Nov. 1 at Grimes Chapel with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment
followed in Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gary Clark, Bruce Clark, Ernest Sierra, Pat Boyle, Buddy Tryon and Kenneth Taulbee. Memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice, Kerrville.
Andy Anderson
Dan R. 'Andy' Anderson, of San Antonio, born
March 8, 1925 in Kaufman, Texas, died
Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. A graduate of San Marcos High School in San Marcos, he moved to San Antonio in May 1946 and attended San Antonio College for one year. Mr. Anderson retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1986 after 40 years of service. He has been approved for membership in the Texas Labor Hall of Fame. Induction will take place at the Texas AFL-CIO COPE Convention in January 2002. A plaque bearing his photo and major accomplishments will be installed in the auditorium at Texas AFL-CIO headquarters in Austin. The Texas Labor Hall of Fame currently includes 28 members. Mr. Anderson joined the Communications Workers of America in 1946. He served the CWA in many local and national positions. In recognition of his many years of service to the CWA, Mr. Anderson was named Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus and the Union Hall located at 1027 N. St. Maryıs was renamed the Dan R. Anderson Building. Mr. Anderson was a member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, Texas A&M Fathers Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, and American Legion, Post 539. He was a delegate to the San Antonio Central Labor Council, Board Member of the San Antonio Telephone Federal Credit Union, Secretary-Treasurer CWA Local 6143 Retired Members Club, President of the Neighborhood Association, member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Chapter 4, Texas AFL-CIO COPE Quorum, CWA RMC COPE Participation. His activities included the Pop Warner Football League, Little League Baseball, PTC Menıs Club at Central Catholic High School, Secretary Treasurer of San Antonio AFL-CIO Retirees Council, Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas State Industrial Past Union Council and member of the Board, St. Cecilia Holy Name Society, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Precinct Chair of Precinct 426, State Bar of Texas, Member of the District 10B Grievance Committee, and the United Way Steering Committee. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Ann Anderson; sons, Daniel R. Anderson Jr. of Bandera and Randal C. Anderson and wife, Cathi of Meraux, La.; grandchildren, Daniel R. Anderson III, Marlena E. Anderson, Charles Gordon Anderson, Marissa Dominio, Sarra Dominio, Sean Anderson, Randal Anderson Jr. and Gabrielle Anderson; sister, Roxiedean Nave; aunt, Mary Elizabeth Younger; and many loving friends. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Gerardıs Catholic Church in San Antonio. George H. Moore
George Henry Moore, 64, of Camp Verde died
on Nov. 3, 2001 at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville. He was born
in Uvalde on June 16. Mr. Moore was the first president of the Uvalde County EMS and a former mayor of Sabinal. He married
Kathy Tiner in Utopia on June 6, 2000. She survives. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his first wife Myrtle, parents George and Louise (Burns) Moore and brothers James, David and Bob Moore. He is survived by his wife, stepdaughter Karen West of Jacksboro; sons George Lee Moore and Roger Olin Moore both of Sabinal; stepsons Patrick Laake and Clayton Laake both of Smithville; sisters Mary Jo Osborn of Abbeyville, Louis. and Molly Wilson of Walnut Springs; brothers Terry Moore and Ray Moore both of LaGrange and Johnny Moore of Georgetown; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Rushing-Estes-Knowles Chapel in Sabinal on Tuesday, Nov. 6 with the Rev. Robert Richarz officiating. Interment
followed in Waresville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sabinal EMS, fire department or library.
Willy Lawson
Willy Lawson, 33, of Pipe Creek, died
Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in a San Antonio hospital. He was born
April 27, 1968 in Smithtown, New York to Charles William and Leslie Ann OıDonnell Lawson. Willy proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, was a former member of the Bandera 4-H Club, an outstanding track athlete, an avid fisherman, and he loved telling stories. Survivors include his mother, Leslie Lawson of Pipe Creek; father, Charlie Lawson of Des Moines, Wash.; grandfather, Charlie Lawson, Sr., of Sarasota, Fla.; grandmother Eleanor OıDonnell of Gilbert, Ariz.; one sister, Kari Ann Gaston and husband Sean of Brownsville, Texas; loving companion, Alice Neal; great aunt Bernice Whelan; two nieces and one nephew. Services were held at 11 a.m., Nov. 12 at Grimes Chapel, with Rev. Wade Strother officiating. Interment
followed in Pipe Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the fund set up in Lawsonıs name at Wells Fargo Bank.
Charles Waldroff
Charles D. Waldroff, 37, died
Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001. He was born
on Nov. 12, 1963, to George C. Waldroff and Lenora A. Neatherlin Waldroff in Fort Carson, Colo. He worked as carpenter for many years. He is survived by his mother Lenora Lowe of Medina; step-father Lee Roy Lowe of Medina; one sister, Patricia Stroud of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Joe Stroud of Kansas and Phillip Waldroff of Lakehills. Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov. 8, at Oak Rest cemetery
in Medina, with Pastor Allie Balko officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wrightıs Funeral Parlor of Bandera.

Virgil Stevenson of Utopia died

Stella Heinen
Stella O. Heinen, 94, of Bandera, died
Monday, Oct. 8, 2001 in a Kerrville care center. She was born
May 7, 1907 in Pipe Creek and was a lifetime resident of Bandera County. He was a housewife and a member of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Alley Heinen. Survivors include a son, Ray L. Heinen and a granddaughter, Cynthia Ann Rackley of Bandera. Graveside services for Mrs. Heinen were held Thursday, Oct. 11 in Bandera Cemetery. Arrangements were by Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
