Herman Marshall Click
1932-2016
Herman Marshall Click, 84, of Bandera, passed away Monday, August 1, in San Antonio.
He was born May 19, 1932, in Bandera to Thomas Marshall Click and Leeann Mate Sutton Click.
Herman loved living in Bandera and never desired to live elsewhere. His diverse work experience included working at the local electric cooperative to the OTR.
Additionally, Herman had an unending number of friends and acquaintances and took pride and enthusiasm sharing interesting, historical stories about the changes and growth of Bandera.
Herman is survived by the family he came to love and care for as his own, Joe and Clarita and their son, “Bubba” Lopez, who loved, cared for and watched over Herman and his brother as their health declined.
With no other surviving relatives, the Lopez family stepped up in times of need, taking Herman to doctor appointments, bringing him meals or taking him out to eat. They also made sure his home, yard and truck were well maintained.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Thomas Noel Click.
Per Herman’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services at the time of his burial.
The Lopez family extends their sincerest appreciation to Gail Joiner for her generosity and support of Herman, as well as to Dr. Jaafar and the nurses and assistants at Bandera Family Practice, Cedar Creek Nursing Center and Regent Care Center of San Antonio.
On a personal note, we would like to give very special thanks to John “Hutch” Hutcherson and Rebecca Hanna, who have been so very caring, sensitive and helpful in assisting with and advising Herman Click and the Lopez family, both before and after, his passing.
Raymundo ‘Ray’ Rendon Jr.
1949-2016
Raymundo Raymundo “Ray” Rendon Jr., 67, departed this life unexpectedly on Thursday, August 25, in San Antonio.
He was born to the late Raymundo and Minerva Rendon in Laredo on Feb. 16,1949.
Ray graduated from JW Nixon High School in Laredo and attended Texas A&M; University in College Station, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in 1976. Following in the footsteps of his uncles who had also attended Texas A&M;, Ray was a very proud Aggie.
He met his dear wife, Elisa, in high school and the couple married
on May 19, 1973. They moved to San Antonio in 1976, where they raised their son, Ray, and spent all of their happily married
years together.
A professional engineer, Ray started his career working for his uncle, Albert B. Fernandez. He spent seven years as an engineer for Bexar County before taking a position in Bandera County where he served 17 years as county engineer. Ray retired from that position in February 2015.
At Ray’s retirement party, Bandera County Judge Richard Evans described his sojourn with Bandera County as “the most cost-effective decision we ever made.” One of Ray’s proudest achievements was re-writing the county’s subdivision rules.
As Evans recalled, “It was not an easy process and throughout it, Ray would raise objections and say, ‘I’m just playing the Devil’s Advocate here,’ and I’d say, ‘No, Ray, you are the devil’,” Evans recalled.
“When we hired him away from Bexar County, he didn’t know anything about the North Prong of the Medina River,” Evans continued. “But since Ray’s been here, we’ve been through a couple of 500-year floods and some 300-year floods. We’re glad you get to retire, but we wish you wouldn’t.”
A hardworking man, Ray took great pride in his work and providing for his family. During Ray’s retirement party, local Realtor Gail Stone underscored a colleague’s assessment of his integrity.
“When people purchased property from me and told me their plans, I always advised them, ‘If you have any problems, go talk to Ray. He’ll tell you exactly what you have to do and his rules are the same for everybody’.”
As a hobby, Ray enjoyed photography and quickly became “the man with the camera” at every family gathering.
However, more than anything else, including the work at which he excelled, Ray was very proud of his family. His greatest joy in life was spending time at home with them.
A kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, Ray’s sudden passing leaves his family with broken hearts. However, they are comforted in knowing that he now rests in the hands of his Heavenly Father.
Ray will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Elisa Rendon; son Raymundo “Ray” Rendon III and his wife, Diana; granddaughter Ava Rendon; and brother Ramiro Rendon and his wife, Diana, and their children, Ramiro and Julie.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, Sept. 1, at Mission Park North Cherry Ridge with a rosary at 7 pm. A service in celebration of Ray’s life will take place at 9:30 am, Friday, Sept. 2, at Mission Park North Cherry Ridge, with burial following at Mission Burial Park North.
