Deborah Louise Sultenfuss
1947-2015
Deborah Louise Sultenfuss, 68, passed away peacefully of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 15.
Although a life-long resident of Texas, she was born on August 29, 1947, in Visalia, California. She was the second of six children born to her father, Lawrence F. Sultenfuss and mother Laura L. Jones Sultenfuss, who preceded her in death.
At the time of her passing, Deborah resided at the Coronado at Stone Oak Nursing Facility and was being cared for by the staff from Coronado and Seasons Hospice.
After graduating from Harlandale High School in San Antonio, Deborah later attended St. Philips College - the oldest of the Alamo College Community, established in 1898 - and became a licensed vocational Nurse (LVN). She worked as an LVN for more than 30 years, devoting her life to helping others.
Deborah is best remembered for her generous nature and her deep love of family. She was often found sewing or crafting things for one of her many family members. Deborah's loving warmth and spirit will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her brother, Lawrence F. Sultenfuss Jr., and his wife, Sherry; and sisters, Margaret O. Teague, Cynthia A. Sultenfuss, Sherry D. Sultenfuss and Karen F. Sultenfuss, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
Deborah was predeceased by her grandmother, Otillia Sultenfuss; her beloved great uncle, William Guy Jones, and his wife, Mary Love Jones; and her brother-in-law, Leslie L. Teague Jr., husband of her sister, Margaret.
A Memorial Mass was offered for Deborah at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devine on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, a donation or lasting tribute may be made to Child-Safe of Bexar County, The Children's Shelter in San Antonio or The American Heart Association.
Arthur Heinen
1941-2015
Arthur Heinen, 74, of Bandera, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, in Bandera.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1941, in Bandera County to Glen and Merva Heinen, who predeceased him. Arthur married
Linda Conner on August 6, 1967, in Elk City, Oklahoma.
He retired from the Texas Highway Department after many dedicated years. Arthur enjoyed gardening, auto mechanics, electronics and hunting with his nephew, Jacob Kindla.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Heinen; daughter Beth Hess and her husband, Stew, of San Antonio; son John Heinen and his wife, Jillian, of Elk City; grandchildren, Christian Baldwin, Sean Hess, Sarah and Bradley James, John Wyatt Heinen, Amalia Heinen and Michaela Turner; and great-grandchildren, MaCayla James and Jordan James, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Arthur was predeceased by his parents, brother Edgar Heinen; son Joe Heinen and grandson Jordan Majeski.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 6, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera. Burial followed at the Bandera cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jacob Kindla, Ronnie Schmidt, Doug White, Ken Wilson, Rex Rackley and Brent Hollier with honorary pallbearers Gilbert Meier, and Mark Wisman.
Bettie M. Peters
1941-2015
Bettie M. Duff Peters, 74, of Bandera, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, in San Antonio.
She was born in Bandera on March 13, 1941, to Clara and James Duff Sr.
Bettie married
Edward R. Peters on March 8, 1963, in Bandera.
A member of the 1959 Bandera High School graduating class, she attended business college in San Antonio and worked at Gross National Bank in San Antonio. Bettie also served as a secretary for the superintendent of the Bandera Independent School District for 18 years.
Bettie was also an avid reader. Additionally, her many well-tended houseplants enjoyed the benefit of her green thumb.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward Peters; sons, Brian Peters of Bandera and Kenneth Peters of Pipe Creek; brother, James Duff and his wife, Margaret; nieces, Dorothy Browning and Cami Culver; and nephew Dennis Duff.
Bettie was predeceased by her parents and sister Lenora Duff.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at Bandera cemetery with Mr. Martin Smith officiating.
Pallbearers were Arlan Hab, James Herrera, Bobby Preston, Bill Lynn, Kelly Scott and Early Deane.
Debra Beth Goode
1952-2015
Our beloved Debra Beth King Goode, 63, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, in San Antonio.
She was born in San Antonio on Nov. 19, 1952, to Melvin and Vera Caffall King, who preceded her in death.
Debra graduated from Bandera High School in 1971 and obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She had a 34-year career at the University of Texas Health Science Center, retiring as registrar for the School of Medicine.
Debra lived a life full of hobbies and interests. Her love of music began at an early age. She became an accomplished pianist, and enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir at Bandera United Methodist Church, as well as with her family.
Debra also loved being outdoors, and her greatest passions included gardening, painting and laughing with friends and family on the patio. Lastly, she had a special fondness of travel and treasured the trips she took with her friends and family.
In recent years, Debra's grandbabies became the light of her life. She had a unique relationship with each of them, and found a way to make each of them feel special. She loved them with a passion, which they reciprocated equally.
We all love her and will miss Debra dearly. She was a great listener and loyal friend, full of insight and always there when you needed a shoulder to lean on. Debra's strength knew no bounds, and she fought her diagnosis with courage, grace and faith.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Keith Goode; daughters, Melissa Golsch and her husband, Kirk; Carrie Lyons and her husband, Brendan; and Jenny Freid and her husband, 10 grandchildren, Addison, Parker, Hallie, Jackson, Camryn, Kendall, Nicholas, Preslie, Bryce, and Spencer; sisters, Lynda Ball; Karen Zickler and her husband, Russell; and Marta Rose, all of Bandera; a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her golden retriever, Tucker.
The family wants to express their appreciation for Dr. Ronald Drengler and his staff at the START Center for their wonderful care.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, Dec. 10, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne. A graveside service will be held at 10 am Friday, Dec. 11, at Tarpley cemetery, located on Tarpley cemetery Road. The service will be followed by a memorial celebration at noon at Spring Creek Church, 28970 Old Fredericksburg Road, in Fair Oaks Ranch.
Pallbearers for the celebration are Kirk Golsch of San Antonio, Scott Freid of Austin, Brendan Lyons of Houston, Dan Sandidge of Tarpley, Rob Sandidge of Tarpley and Jim Thompson of Kaufman. Honorary pallbearers are James Rose of Corpus Christi, Jonathan Rose of Kendalia, Geoffrey Zickler of San Antonio and Ron Fisher of Boerne.
Helen J. Anderson
1931-2015
Helen J. Anderson, 84, of Bandera, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, in Bandera.
She was born in Bessemer, Wisconsin to Anne Marie Simcoe on Feb. 17, 1931.
A beloved mother and devoted grandmother to both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Mann and her husband, George Anderson, of Bandera; Norma Latvala and her husband, Steven; sons, James Anderson and his wife, Nancy of Grafton, Wisconsin, and Phillip Anderson of Kenosha, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as by her beloved doxie, Weiner.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Anderson; sons, David Anderson and Arvid Anderson; and granddaughter, Penny Mann.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
