Mary Elizabeth Roberts, 71, died
Nov. 26, 2001 in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Mary Elizabeth (Frisbie) Roberts was born
in Orlando on Easter- April 20, 1930. Mary was an Air Force wife who spent many happy years living in Texas. Mary lived in Bandera from 1984 until 1999. She was active at St. Christopherıs Episcopal Church and the Friends of the Library Club. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at St. Michaelıs Episcopal Church. Harriet Johnson
Harriet Johnson, 98, of San Antonio died
Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. Mrs. Johnson worked as a teacher in various Minnesota high schools for 31 years. She graduated from Carlton College in Northfield, Minn. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the P.E.O. and the First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud, Minn. She was also a writer. Survivors include one daughter, Susie Birdsong and husband Henry of Tarpley; three grandchildren: James Miller and wife Jonna of Houston, Jodi Ramirez and husband Eduardo of The Woodlands, and Jeffrey Miller and wife Leslie of San Antonio; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Johnson. Services will be held for Mrs. Johnson on Saturday, Dec. 15 at St. Christopherıs Episcopal Church in Bandera at 2 p.m. with Father Edmund Dohoney and Monsignor Don Krebs presiding. Maxine Grantham
Maxine Grantham, 78, a resident of Lakehills since 1990, died
Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. She was born
in San Antonio June 22, 1923, the daughter of Max and Carrie Brockman Theis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pipe Creek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Henderson and granddaughter, Suzanne Henderson. Mrs. Grantham is survived by her husband of 43 years, Collis Grantham; daughters, Joyce Trappe and husband, George, of Helotes, and Colleen Kievit and her husband, Michael, of Pipe Creek; daughter-in-law, Patsy Henderson; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Stolzheise of Santa Rosa, Calif. The Memorial Service was held Friday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Pipe Creek with Pastor Doug Johnson officiating. Arrangements were by Vaughanıs Funeral Home of Boerne.
Robert T. Craig
Robert T. Craig, Jr., 54, of Medina, died
Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001 at his residence. He was born
Aug. 17, 1947 in Houston to Robert Taylor Craig, Sr. and Helen Rogers Craig. He had made his home in Medina for over 30 years and had previously lived in Houston where he worked as a Longshoreman in a Houston Shipyard. Graveside services were held at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Bold Springs, Texas, Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, with Evangelist Sam Craig officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
Janet Chavez
Janet Chavez, 52, of Pipe Creek died
Thursday, Dec. 13 in a local care center. She was born
on Nov. 5, 1949 in Houston to Nathanial Blackmon and Mildred Chapman Blackmon. She worked as a secretary at Newell Manufacturing for many years. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband Nestor Chavez; one son, Nestor Chavez II of Pipe Creek; three daughters, Shannon Pastuch, Jodye Pastuch and Andrea Chavez; her father; one sister, Patricia Land; one brother, Larry Blackmon and two grandchildren. Graveside services were held Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at Pipe Creek cemetery
with Chaplain Jack Cook officiating. Arrangements were by Wrightıs Funeral Parlor of Bandera.
Joe Ben Snider
Joe Ben Snider, 75, of Utopia, died
on Dec. 14, 2001 at Utopia Medical Clinic. He was born
on June 6, 1926 in McKinney, Texas. He was married
to Elaine Thomas on June 26, 1946, in McKinney. Mr. Snider worked in marketing with Exxon Co. and he had also been on the board of directors for the Bandera Electric Cooperative. Mr. Snider is survived by wife Elaine Snider of Utopia; daughter Sandie Ford and husband Bill of Boerne; brother Bill Snider of Paris, Texas; and grandchildren Michael Ford and Steven Ford of Boerne. Services were held on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001 at the Utopia Methodist Church. Interment
followed at Pecan Grove cemetery
in McKinney, with Rev. Kent Kepler and Rev. Dick Freeman officiating. Pallbearers were Elby Hutto, Bill Dean, Ted Mumme, George Keelin, Clif Anderson, and Lewis Bracy. Memorials may be made to your favorite Utopia charity.
Buddy Postert
Edward 'Buddy' Postert, Sr, 85, of Bandera, died
Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born
July 12, 1916 in Bandera, to Edward Bernard and Hattie Veda Wheeler Postert. On Aug. 13, 1929, he married
Velma Lea Jacobs in Bandera. She survives. He was a Charter Member of the Bandera VFW and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Bandera for 31 years. In addition to his wife Velma of Bandera, survivors include three sons, Edward J. Postert Jr. and wife Shelly of Bandera, Douglas Postert of Uvalde and James Postert of Bandera; one sister, Dorothy Fitzpatrick of San Antonio; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Mendy Lou Postert and sister Evelyn Kalka. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. at Grimes Chapel, with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment
will be in the Postert family cemetery. Pallbearers are Jacob Postert, Ginger Postert, Roy Postert, Clayton Postert, Tammy Postert, Chris Wood, Jamie Postert and James Postert, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Brandon Wood, Walter Langehenning, Jerry Morgenstern, Zoe Postert, Helmuth Koenig, Joe Walters, Kayla Postert, Harvey Faris, and Alfred Anderwald. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
