Jean Turner
Mary Regina (Jean) Wilkins Turner, 71, of Lakehills, died
Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 at her residence. She was born
Feb. 25, 1930 in St. Petersburg, Fla. and was raised in Russellville, Ky. She had made her home in Lakehills for the past eight years. Mrs. Turner worked as a teacher under the name of Mary Regina Wilkins Barrow for over 30 years in various states: Kentucky, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. She was one of the founding board members who began establishing the Lakehills Area Library in 1999. This endeavor was was among her favorite and proudest accomplishments. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Lakehills United Methodist Church with Pastor Ellen Ely officiating. Internment will be in the Wilkins family cemetery
in Russellville. Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, Luther A. (Archie) Turner; one daughter, Deborah Jean Barrow of San Antonio; one sister, Joanna May Wilkins Shirley of Shepherd, Texas; and one brother, Robert Burr Wilkins Jr. of Russellville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Burr Wilkins Sr. and Anna Regina (Gina) Etheridge Wilkins. Memorials may be made to the Lakehills Library and Community Association or the Lakehills United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made under the direction of Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio.

I.C. Morris
I.C. Morris, 85, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, died
Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born
Feb. 29, 1916 in Marshall, Ark. to I.C. Morris Sr., and Mildred Jackson Morris. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. Survivors include one daughter, Terry Teague of Fullerton, Calif.; sister-in-law Florence Thompson of Pipe Creek; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie on Oct. 5, 1999. Graveside services will be held Friday, Jan. 18, at 2:15 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with the Rev. Wade Strother officiating.
Alice Gunter
Alice Gunter, 55, of Bandera, died
Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001 at her residence. She was born
Jan. 3, 1946 in Bell Flower, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Welch and her brother Bobby Welch. She is survived by her husband Paul of Bandera; her mother Alice Welch of Bell Flower, Ill.; two daughters, Annette Gunter and fiance Daniel Curtis of San Antonio, Paulette Santos and husband John of San Antonio; one son, Timothy Paul Gunter and wife Patricia of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Sue Ella Eades and husband Gary; and brother Thomas Welch and wife Nancy. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Chloe Paulina, Joshua Paul, Taylor Kaye, Hannah Elizabeth Theresa, Madeline Francis, Rachael Loren, and Isaac Patrick. Funeral services were held Dec. 27, 2001 at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery
in San Antonio. A memorial fund has been set up in Alicešs name at Bandera Bank for the 'build grandma's garden' project.
James D. Exum
James D. Exum, 64, of Bandera died
Friday, Dec. 21, 2001 in a Kerrville hospital. He was born
Oct. 24, 1937 in Frederick, Okla. to Thomis Lanford Exum and Rena Hubble Exum. In Korea from 1957 to 1961, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic. Survivors include a son, Al Exum and wife Cheryl, of Grand Prairie, Texas; a sister, Martha Bowman and husband Gary, of Wyoming, Dela.; several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Exum, Al Exum, and George Goodman; and a sister, Rena Belle Goodman Caron. Services were held Thursday, Dec. 27, at Grimes Chapel, with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment
followed in Bandera Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, 710 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028.

Lenoir Contie, born
July 29, 1951, died
Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at her home in Vanderpool. She is survived by her husband, Richard Contie and daughter, Brittany F. Contie. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio. The Rev. Dinah Shelly officiated. Interment
was in Mission Burial Park North. Arrangements where by Porter Loring of San Antonio.
Billie Ennis
Billie Ennis, 73, of Bandera, died
Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001 at her residence. She was born
Aug. 31, 1928 in Dayton, Texas to James H. and Gussie M. Ratcliff Bumstead. On March 28, 1946, she married
James Ennis in Port Neches, Texas. He survives. Mrs. Ennis was a member of the Flying L Chapel, a homemaker, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband James of Bandera, survivors include two daughters, Sydney Silvertooth and husband Bobby of Arlington, Texas, and Terri Fauks of Bandera; one son, Ben Ennis and wife Tina of Arlington; one brother, James Bumstead of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Bradley Walden, Jamie Conley, Jeff Fauks, Justin Fauks, Jenna Fauks; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Conley. Services were held Monday, Dec. 31 at Grimes Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Grainger officiating. A private family interment
followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association.
