Mr. Louis C. Holliday
Mr. Louis C. Holliday, age 85, of Lakehills, died on Sunday, May 9, 2004, at his residence. He was born March 22, 1919 in Florence, Michigan to Chester and Edith Kline Holliday. He served in the Army during World War II from August 1941 to December 1945. After moving to the Lakehills area, he owned Approved Realty fro more than 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Venard Holliday of Lakehills. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, May 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Pipe Creek cemetery.

Lillian M. Kingery
Lillian M. Kingery of Kingsland, Texas died Tuesday, May 18 at Kingsland Hills Care Center. She was 85.
Lillian was born in San Antonio on June 26, 1918 to Tom and Etta (White) Lackey. She married
Pat Kingery Sr. in 1955 and worked for the United States government as a civil service employee.
She had resided in Kingsland for the past 40 years, coming from San Antonio. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW of Kingsland.
Her funeral service was May 21 at the Chapel of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Kingsland. Pastor Wade Lackey officiated. Interment followed at 2 p.m. at Oak Rest cemetery in Medina, officiated by Mr. Martin Smith.
Her survivors include her sons Joe Burkholder and wife Elaine of Junction and Alton Byron Lenz and wife Kay of Huntsville, AZ; stepson Pat Kingery Jr, and wife Teresa of Victoria, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband Pat Kingery Sr. on April 29, 2004; both parents, three brothers and two sisters. Arrangements were by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes Inc of Kingsland. Their phone number is 325-388-6767.
MARY MENDEZ
Mary Mendez, age 75 of Bandera, passed away Thursday, May 13 at her home in Bandera. She was born Sept. 21, 1928 in San Antonio.
For many years, Mary worked for Montgomery Ward in San Antonio. She became a housewife and homemaker when her children were born.
Mary is survived by her son, Ray A. Mendez of Bandera; grandchildren, Jennifer Cervantes and husband, Charlie, Stefan Erfurth and wife, Vanessa, and Jonathan Erfurth. Also, three great grandchildren, Sage Cervantes, Ethan Erfurth and Lauralei Erfurth, and numerous brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Anthony Mendez, and a daughter, Mary Lou Mendez.
Mass was Tuesday, May 18, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Stan Oleksy as celebrant. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery.

William "Bill" Dawson Walker
Services for Mr. William "Bill" Dawson Walker, age 74 of Pipe Creek, who passed away Friday, April 30, 2004 in a San Antonio hospital were Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery in San Antonio. In memory of his big heart, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association. ROBERT BOB RIVETTE
Robert "Bob" Rivette, Sr., age 87 of San Antonio, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 in a Boerne Care Center. He was born September 28, 1916 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Thomas Franklin Rivette and Ethelyn Frame Rivette. On July 14, 1939, he married
Satis Holder in New Orleans, LA.
He was the Director of Buildings and Grounds for Methodist Hospital for many years, a Shriner, a 32nd Degree Mason, past president of Texas Hospitals Engineers Association, member of the Flying FEZ and a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Satis Rivette; daughters, Vicki Moore and husband, Herschel A. Moore, Sr., of Pipe Creek, and Wendi Rivette of Humble, TX; sons, William "Skipper" Rivette and wife, Sheran of San Antonio, and Robert Rivette, Jr., of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tiffany Rivette, Shane Rivette, Hershel A. Moore, II, Jennifer A. Gaertner, Laurie Dillard and husband, Steve, and William "Skip" Rivette; and one great grandchild and niece, Cyndi Moore and husband, Russell.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakehills United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the charity of one's choice.

BOBBY LOYD BEDGOOD
Bobby Loyd Bedgood, age 64, a resident of Bandera for 13 years, passed away Thursday, May 20 at his residence. He was born Jan. 15, 1940 in Vidalia, Georgia to Raymond James Bedgood and Marguerite (Kemp) Bedgood.
Bobby was a real estate broker and an instructor at the real estate school in Kerrville.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Thomae Bedgood; daughters, Jennifer Frost Bedgood, Valerie Kemp Bedgood and Molly Suzanna Pruitt; sons, Hunter Ross Bedgood and Adam Tarver Bedgood; sister, Beth Rhodes; and four grandchildren, Remington, Felicity, Sierra and Olivia Bedgood.
The family will meet at the Murchison Funeral Home in Vidalia, GA on Wednesday, May 26 at 3 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Pine Crest cemetery in Vidalia, GA at 4 p.m.

FORREST EDWARD "JACK" THORNTON
Forrest Edward "Jack" Thornton born Aug. 23, 1920 to Everett Edward Thornton and Winnie Davis Baird in Jonah, Texas, went to be with the Lord May 9 at the age of 83.
On Dec. 24 th, 1940 he married
his high school sweetheart, Lois Virginia Ferguson, and from this union three children were born. During World War II Jack served in the US Army Air Corps. Upon receiving an honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to City Public Service and retired after 46 years. He began his career as a temporary meter reader and rose through the ranks to retiring in 1984 as Director of Energy Conservation Education and Assistance Program. During his tenure at CPSB he served on the Board of Directors of the Greater San Antonio Home Builders Association (eventually becoming honorary life director), was a Director in the San Antonio Manufacturers Association, Executive Secretary of the Appliance and Electronics Association of San Antonio, member of the Illuminating Engineers Society of America and President of the Public Service Federal Credit Union. Following his retirement he became a charter member of the Lakehills Volunteer Fire Department. For 60 years, Jack was a Mason affiliated with both the Albert Pike Lodge No. 1169 and the Bandera Texas Masonic Lodge. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
He is Survived by his loving wife, Lois Thornton; three children, Jerry E. Thornton and his wife, Gina, Lawton, OK, Susan K. Thornton, and Patti Thornton White and her husband, George, all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Steven E. Thornton and wife, Leann, Carin E. Thornton, and Travis G. White; great grandchild, Nathan Edward Thornton.
A Memorial service will be Wednesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at The Meadows Retirement Community at 730 Babcock Rd. The Rev. Dr. Karion Krieger and Chaplain Dennis Smith will be officiating. Masonic rites will be under the auspices of Albert Pike Lodge No. 1169.

HENRY L. CRUZ
Henry L. Cruz, age 67 of Bandera, died Thursday, May 13 in Kerrville. He was born Dec. 1, 1936 in San Antonio to Eusibio and Josefina Lara Cruz. On June 10, 1981, he married
Guadalupe "Lupe" Fuentes in Las VegaS.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #10258, member of Guadalupanos Society, former member and commander of the American Legion, and he served his country as a proud member of the US Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Lupe of Bandera; two daughters, Annette Villanueva of Cedar Park, and Jeannette Velasquez and husband, Roger of San Antonio; son, Jesse Valos and wife, Lee Ann of Lawton, OK; brother, Joe Cruz of San Antonio; grandchildren, Crystal Villanueva, Nadia Velasquez and Christopher Wadsworth; and one great grandchild, Natalie Villanueva.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was May 16 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. A funeral mass was May 17 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera with Father Leo Martinez as celebrant. Interment followed in the New Catholic cemetery.

LOUISE GIESE
Louise Giese, age 74, lost her courageous battle with cancer and went home to the Lord on May 1. Louise loved the Lord and shared Him with everyone she came into contact with. Louise was the co-owner of the Forget-Me-Not Card and Shop in San Antonio. She started the first Precious Moments Club in Texas and was instrumental in founding the Hallmark Ornament Club in San Antonio. Her passion was for service to our Lord and began the Library at Buchanan West Baptist Church, served with the "Share the Harvest" ministry of First Baptist Church of Kingsland, TX and was the lead singer of the Praise Team at the Flying L Chapel in Bandera. Her place in Heaven was prepared earlier by her son, Terry and parents, Ann Matlock and Herbert Heiser. She is survived by her husband of 54 wonderful years, Jim; their daughter-in-law Misty Cable, her husband Dan and their sons, Slate & Landon of San Antonio; brother, Al Heiser and his wife Dolly of Canyon Lake; sister, Faye Galneau and her husband Tom of Colorado City and brother, Harvey Heiser and his wife Tootie. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Louise was a gracious wife, loving mother, devoted friend and the world's best grandmother, to Slate and Landon.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Louise's life was May 4, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Castle Hills First Baptist Church under the leadership of Brother James Ennis of the Flying L Chapel in Bandera. A private family committal service was held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be sent to Vista Care, 420 Water Street, Suite 104, Kerrville, TX 78028.

Almon (Al) H. Heep
Almon (Al) H. Heep, age 75, of Bandera, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at his residence. He was born on July 2, 1928 in Stonewall to Max G. and Olga Jenschke Heep. On March 31, 1950, he married
Jean Saathoff in San Antonio.
Al was a charter member of the Bandera Optimist Club, Past President of the Bandera Optimist Club, Past Lt. Gov. of the South Central District Optimist Club, Past Swine Supt. of the Bandera Jr. Livestock Show, Director of the Bandera Sports Complex, Past President of the Bandera Little League, and member of the Flying L. Chapel. He retired from Freidrich Air Conditioning as Manager of Engineering Services. He was currently a rancher, raising cattle and game management. Al was a graduate of Heald's Engineering College in San Francisco, CA.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jean Heep of Bandera; son, David Heep; grandchildren, Dustin Heep, Travis Heep, Shannan Hubbard and Shane Hubbard; three great grandchildren; brothers, Bob Heep and wife, Anne of Abilene, John Henry Heep and wife, Bessie of Grand Prairie; sister, Bernice Gianotti and husband, John of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Services were April 30 at Grimes Chapel in Bandera with Rev. James Ennis officiating. Interment followed in Bandera cemetery.
Pallbearers are Steve Molberg, Gary Molberg, Jeff Heep, Dan Heep, Terry Lieck, and Mark Mahone. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Juren, A.L. Davis, Bill Boyington, Tom Der Tatevasion, Jerry Heep, Bill Heep, Larry Heep and the Directors and Community Advisory Board of Bandera Sports Complex.
