Charles David 'Davey' Lee
1979-2010
Charles David “Davey Lee” Lee of Pipe Creek, passed away Friday Oct. 1.
He was born in San Antonio to Charles “Chuck” and Teresita Acosta Lee on March 3, 1959.
Davey married
Katrina Rolanda Shogren on Dec. 29, 1979, at St. Vincent de Paul church in San Antonio.
He attended school in San Antonio, graduating from Jefferson High School. Davey earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Columbia State University. As vice president of San Antonio Trade School, he started out assisting with the family business, which included five schools in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
In 1985, Davey was named “Outstanding Man in American Business,” the youngest executive in this field ever listed in the “Outstanding Men Of America” trade publication. He then served as a director of the Cornell Corrections Institute in Texas.
At the time of his death, Davey was a manager at United Parcel Service.
He is survived by his wife, Katrina; daughter Cynthia Lee Vanegas; sons, Christopher David Lee, Chase Devon and Andrea Lee; brother Christopher Lee; sister Charyl; mother Teresita Acosta Lee; and grandchildren, Nathaniel, Natasha and Natalia Vanegas and Jordan Lee, as well as his band mates, Ignatius “Nacho” Vara, Marco Villarreal, Robb Steele, Vikk Real and Mike Molina.
Davy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Aurelia Lee, and Jesus and Purita Acosta; and his father Charles “Chuck” Lee from Helotes, who was known as “The Hillbilly Crooner” for TNT Records.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Grime’s Funeral Chapel in Bandera. Funeral services were held Wednesday Oct. 6, at the Little Rock Church in Pipe Creek, with Pastor Kate Rascoe of the Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial followed at the Pipe Creek cemetery.
Pallbearers were Christopher David and Chase Devon Lee, Buddy and Steve Pavlich, Ignatius “Nacho” and Jesse Vara, Christopher Lee and nephew Rick Aguilar.

Dorothy McBride Rucker
1938-2010
Dorothy Louise McBride Rucker, 72, of Bandera, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, in a San Antonio Hospital.
She was born in Lamison, Alabama, on Feb. 13, 1938, to Louise and James McBride, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy married
Robert “Bob” Larry Rucker, on June 4, 1975, in Odessa where Bob was employed with Shell Oil. During their marriage, the couple lived in Damascus, London and Scotland.
Very active in the Bandera community, Dorothy was a devoted member of the Lakeshore Volunteer Fire Department, serving as president for several years.
She was also a faithful member of the Flying L Chapel, and more recently Lakehills Baptist Church. While at the Flying L Chapel, she helped organize the Ladies Ministry, and sang in the choirs at both churches. Dorothy was baptized on March 13, 2005.
She is survived by daughter, Katherene Forsness and her husband, Gordon, of Bandera; son Bobby Lee Cummings and his wife, Diane, of Wisconsin; sisters, Wanda Hamilton of Weslaco and Wilma Johnson of Bandera; and grandchildren, Melissa Turner; Kathryn Forsness; Elizabeth Howard and her husband, Michael; Robert Cummings and his wife, Dusti; and Vickie Boggs and her husband, Cody, as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Bob Rucker; brother James McBride; and granddaughter Brandy Cummings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, Oct. 23, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera with the Brother James Ennis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Elizabeth F. Timms

Elizabeth F. Timms was called home Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the young age of 52.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce W. Timms Sr., who is currently receiving medical treatment in Richmond, Virginia. She also survived by her sons, George and Edward Bourland, and Bruce W. Timms Jr., who is on active duty in the United States Army, as well as her grandsons, Ethan and Luke Bourland and Levi Timms; granddaughter Savannah Timms; brother Dwayne Hendrickson; sisters, Peg, Sherri and Dawn Marie; nephews, Curt and Daniel; and niece, Jennifer, of Bandera.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, honorariums be sent to Grimes Funeral Chapels to defray final expenses.
Robert Tyre Jones
1928-2010
Robert Tyre Jones, 81, of Kerrville, passed away Saturday,Sept. 25, in a local care center.
He was born September 29, 1928, in Dallas to Al and Hazel Jones, who preceded him in death.
At an early age, Robert’s family moved to Houston. In 1947, he graduated from Reagan High School in the Heights, where he excelled in academics, football, basketball and track.
Robert also attended Tulane University on a full athletic scholarship, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
On August 4, 1950, Robert married
Clara Faye Keiper. The couple had three children, Steven Robert Jones, Danette Victoria Jones and Shelley Jones.
In 1987, Robert married
Betty Jo Jones, who survives him.
He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Annetta Rae Shipp and her husband, Walter; daughters, Danny Brakebill and her husband, John, and Shelley Mikulin and her husband, Mike; daughter-in-law, Leila Jones; sons, Aime Real and Louie Real; and daughter, Rhonda Harden and her husband, Tony; grandchildren, Christophe Jones; Sophie Jones; Erica Brakebill; Ashley Brakebill Blanchard and her husband, Eric; Sarah Mikulin Bell and her husband, Brian; Jessica Mikulin; Matthew Mikulin; Chelsea Harden; and Cassie Harden; great-grandchildren, Emery Bell, Sydney Bell, Elliette Blanchard, Cadence Blanchard and Claudia Jones; and nephews, Bob Martin and Scott Martin.
Robert was also preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Faye Jones; and son, Steven Robert Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, Oct. 9, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of choice.

Sam Benjamin Quaid
1909-2010
Sam Benjamin Quaid, 101, of Medina, passed away on Wednesday, July 7.
He was born on March 3, 1909, in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Columbus Benjamin and Cora Mae Quaid.
During World War II, Mr. Quaid spent 22 months in the Seabees, the United States Naval Construction Battalion, in his words, “fighting Japanese and building roads and landing strips.”
He had a wonderful life and often spoke of many memories that included Gene Autry as a lifelong friend.
Mr. Quaid was preceded in death by his wife, Opal “Doodlebug” on March 16, 2007.
He is survived by sister, Lela Quaid of Antlers, Oklahoma; nieces, Mary Jane Quaid of Kerrville, and Barbara Belew of Idaho; nephews, Albert Quaid Sr. of New Braunfels, and Loyd Wade of Cloudy, Oklahoma; great-nieces, Debbie Stemberger of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Linda Quaid of New Braunfels; and great-nephews, Butch Quaid of Medina, Chris Bacon of San Antonio and George Quaid of Ventura, California, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at a later date.
