ADRIAN REID
Mr. Adrian Reid, age 74 of Medina, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28 at a Kerrville hospital. He was born in Henryetta, OK on August 22, 1929 to Lansford Adrian Reid, Sr. and Agnes Hull. He married
Elizabeth Ann Bowers on Feb. 28, 1948 in El Paso.
Adrian was an operator at Standard Oil in El Paso from 1952-1985. He was a house parent at Medina Children's Home and a member of the Medina Church of Christ.
Survivors are: wife, Elizabeth Ann Reid of Medina; mother, Agnes Pouppirt of San Antonio; daughter, Linda Sue Reid of Enid, OK; son, Michael Reid of El Campo; grandchildren, Daniel, James and Sarah Reid, Billy Thompson and Lisa Shively; great grandchildren, Shelby, Ashley, and Zachery Shively.
Memorial services were Sept. 30 7:30 p.m. at the Medina Church of Christ officiated by Mr. Jim Harris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Medina Children's Home.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
JO ANN HARPER
Former Bandera County resident, Jo Ann Harper, age 73, of Folsom, Calif., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, in a care facility in Sacramento, Calif. following several weeks illness. Miss Harper graduated in 1948 from Medina High School, where she was active in sports and served on the staff of the school newspaper. She enlisted in the WACS and honorably served her country. After receiving her discharge, she furthered her college education and graduated from law school. When she retired from law practice, she returned to Bandera County and made her home in the Wharton's Dock area for several years, after which she returned to California to reside.
Survivors include an aged aunt and a cousin in San Antonio and loving friends, Alice and Dan Larson of California. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
MRS. PEARL FRANKS CUSTER
Mrs. Pearl Franks Custer, age 103 of Bandera, passed away Monday, Sept. 8. She was born on June 16, 1900 to Charles Edward and Lelia C. (McNemar) Franks in Rocksprings, TX.
Pearl was an operator for a telephone company and was of the Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Garms of Bandera; granddaughter, Glynda Berry of San Antonio; two great grandsons, Neil and Troy Everling and one great great granddaughter, Vanessa Everling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Custer on Aug. 21, 1944.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rocksprings cemetery in Rocksprings officiated by Mr. Martin Smith.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
LAVERNE McCLURE
LaVerne McClure, 80, died Friday, Sept. 5 at her residence. She was born in Morrison, Oklahoma on Jan. 11, 1923 to William Cooksey and Clara Stewart Cooksey. LaVerne married
Leo McClure and was a housewife and mother. She was a member of the Klein Untied Methodist church in Spring, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Leo McClure of Bandera, Daughter, Marianne McClure of Bandera. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by parents and sister Leta Hullet.
A Memorial service was Tuesday at Klein United Methodist Church with Pastor K. Wayne Day officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction Wright's Funeral Parlor.
GEORGE McMULLEN
George McMullen, age 71, of Bandera, died Wednesday, Sept. 10 at his residence. He was born Jan. 29, 1932 in San Antonio to Edwin W. and Erla J. Gray McMullen. On July 22, 1957, he married
Shirley Hinds in San Antonio at the Harlandale United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, worked for Luling Oil and Gas Company for 30 years, worked for River City Investments restoring antique cars, built race cars, raced in NASCAR, raced Midget cars, and he was a great father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Bandera, two daughters, Tonya Sutton and husband Willis of Bandera, and Tammy Bennack and husband James of Pipe Creek, son, Bill McMullen and wife Kathleen of Jacksonville, Florida, six grandchildren, David Polk and wife Kim of Alabama, Christine Kozak and husband Jason of Germany, Eileen Narducci and husband Chris of Japan, Desirae Sutton, Raelyn Bennack, and James Bennack, Jr., and five great grandchildren, Katie Polk, Kyle Polk, Brittany Kozak, Lindsey Kozak and Baby Narducci. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were Sunday, Sept. 14 at Grimes Chapel, with Rev. Everette Boyce officiating. Interment followed in the Bandera cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Robertson, Bob McCall, Johnny Doyle, David Kehil, Tony Robles and James Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Dee Howard, Vernon Scruggs, Jerry Melcher, Jerry Kock, Cotton Sherland, and A.J. Foyt. JERRY EVELYN ZINSMEISTER
Jerry Evelyn Zinsmeister, 71, of Morehead City died, Monday, Sept. 1 at Century Care of the Crystal Coast. She was born March 27, 1932 in San Antonio to the late Henry A. Zinsmeister and Mary Frances Sheldon Zinsmeister. She graduated from Bandera High School. Sergeant Zinsmeister served in the United States Women Marines from 1951 to 1954 and followed with 25 years in the U.S. Civil Service in the Accounting Department at U.S. Marine Corp Air Station, Cherry Point. She retired in 1977.
Jerry was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild and was active in other areas of First United Methodist Church until failing health caused her to discontinue those activities.
Survivors include sister, Dorothy Vincent of Pipe Creek, aunts and uncles, Louise Turner and Meta Haby of Lakehills, Jack O'Dell of Rockville, MD., Carol Gresembeck of Elemendorf and Jerry Fried and Nancy Turner of Pipe Creek.
Funeral services were at First United Methodist Church with the pastor Rev. Dr. Homer E. Morris officiating. Burial was Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Bandera City cemetery. The family received friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sept. 4, and following the funeral service at the home of Mrs. C.G. Hollond and Miss Ruth M. Willis, 219 Ann Street, Beufort.

ALLAN BURNES
Allan Burnes, age 75, of Bandera, died Sunday, Oct. 12 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1928 in Bandera to William Hardin Burnes and Maggie Lee Young Burnes. On Sept. 28, 1969, he married
Dorothy Saucier in Bandera. He was a 1946 graduate of Bandera High School where we was active in athletics, attended Sul Ross University at Alpine and Tarleton State University at Stephenville, was an avid history buff, and worked for Dow Chemical Company for 32 years. He was an extremely intelligent and very loving man.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Bandera, step daughters, Clara Lee Anderson of Navasota, Bonnie Marn of Ft. Worth, and Blanche Hartzell of Azle, step-sons, Wilbur Honeycutt and wife Cynthia of Giddings, and David Honeycutt of Cotulla, brother, Billy Ray Burnes, six grandchildren including Jason Honeycutt of Bandera, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews including nephew Mike Burnes of Bandera.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joey Burnes on Sept. 20, 2001, sister Faye Burnes Christian, and brothers, Gene and Jack Burnes. Services were Oct. 16 at Grimes Chapel, with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment followed in the Bandera cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Bandera High School Class of 1946: Ray Marvin Hay, Leslie Bill Short, Jimmy Joe Prue, Jerry Anderwald, Wayne Wharton, Gene Harold Fee, Jack Searcy, and Bill Brient.

WELDON A. GATLIN
Weldon A. Gatlin, age 82, of Bandera, died Tuesday, Oct. 21 in a local care center. He was born March 11, 1921 in Cushing, Texas to Wilburn and Maude Mae Needham Gatlin. On March 27, 1953, he married
Faye Solomon in San Antonio. Mr. Gatlin was a projectionist in the movie industry, was a member of the Theatrical Stage local #76, was a 60 year Mason, a member of the Davy Crockett Lodge # 1225 AF&AM;, and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Shiner.
Survivors include his wife Faye, two sisters, Hilda Hargrove of Beaumont and Mildred Williams of Woodville, and brother, James Ray Gatlin.
Graveside Services were Saturday, Oct. 25, at Pipe Creek cemetery, with Pastor Chris Mallia officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Copper Valley Nursing Home.
THOMASEE EILER EMERSON LEWIS
Thomasee Eiler Emerson Lewis, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 13 at her residence. She was born to Tom and Venna Lemma Emerson on Sept. 28, 1924 in Waelder. She was raised by John H. Eiler after the death of her father. Thomasee was a Rainbow Girl of the Alamo Heights chapter and a graduate of Alamo Heights, San Antonio. She was a past worthy matron of the Kountze Chapter of the Eastern Star. She worked as a cafeteria manager for Alamo Heights and Comfort I. S. D. She served the Lord at the Huisache Baptist Church and the Landmark Baptist Church, San Antonio. She was called to fulfill the Lord's work at the Pot of Gold Youth Ranch, Comfort for 38 years of dedicated service. Thomasee was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, Kerrville, where she was a Sunday school teacher, organist and directed the children's choir. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She was survived by her loving children, Shirley E. Kinney and husband Dale of Comfort, Valton B. "Hank" English, Jr. and wife Kelly of Springfield, Vermont, Betty Jane Martin and husband Marvin of LaVernia, Thomas Dewey Wells of Comfort and Harry David Lewis and wife Barbie of Fort Worth; one brother, John H. Eiler of San Antonio; grandchildren, David Jones, Candida Ottes, Rachel Skurdal and husband Dan, Daune English, Jason English, Mark Martin, Stephen Martin, Kelly Lewis, Kendall Lewis and Benjamin Lewis; great grandchildren, Mariah Jones, Joshua Jones, Matthew Ottes, Micah Ottes, Alayna Skurdal, Roman Skurdal and Owen Skurdal. She will be loved and missed by many other family members and friends.
Services were Saturday, Oct. 18 at Victory Baptist Church, Kerrville with Dr. Claud J. Bonam Jr. and Pastor W. D. Day officiating the services. Interment followed at Thompsonville cemetery, Thompsonville.
Pallbearers were Valton B. "Hank"English Jr., T. Dewey Wells, Harry D. Lewis, David Jones, Jason English, Marvin Martin, Dale Kinney, and Mark Martin. Honorary Pallbearers were Walter Gene Irle and John Eiler.

BOBBIE FAYE GILL
Bobbie Faye Gill, age 77, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4 in San Antonio. She was born on Jan. 8, 1926 in Caddo, Texas to William & Myrtle Keller. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, John L. Gill; children, Patricia Ann Gill and husband, John Fuerst, Richard K. Gill, and Juanita K. Pillit & husband, Frank; grandchildren, Karma, Autumn, Phillip, Robert, Beau, and John Paul; great-granddaughter, Rosie; and sisters-in-law, Jo Keller and Mary Ellen Keller. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral service 3 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Brinkley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
SHARON LYNN
Sharon Lynn, age 46, of Pipe Creek, died Friday, Oct. 24 in Pipe Creek. She was born June 15, 1957 in Dumas, Texas, to Everett Edward and Patricia Ann Moms Luxton. Sharon was a Technician in a Photo Lab and had worked for eight years at HEB in Boerne.
Survivors include her father, Everett Luxton and wife Ruth, daughter, Jennifer of Florida, two sons Aaron Lynn of Pipe Creek and Jason Ellingson of Pipe Creek, three brothers, Everett Luxton of Pipe Creek, Rayland Luxton and wife Ginny of Austin, and Buddy Luxton of California, and two grandchildren, Kaleb and Jacob.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at Grimes Chapel with Bob Moms officiating. Memorials may be made to White Rock Christian Fellowship.
WILLIAM NEFF
'William F. (Bill) Neff, age 83, a proud American and member of the Cherokee Nation (West), died peacefully in his sleep at a care facility in Kerrville on Oct. 20. Born January 24, 1920 at Jenks, OK. He was raised on a farm in Bolivar, MO and joined the Army Air Corp in June 1941. He served in England with the 8th Air Force during WW II and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1971. He served on the Inspector General Team in Europe, was First Sergeant of the 451
Missile Wing in Colorado and Base Sergeant Major of F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. He received two Air Force Commendation medals for outstanding service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 157, VFW Post 9176 and DAV, Bandera, TX. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks in Portland.
He lived with his wife, Carolyn, in the Bandera area since 1989.
Bill was a strong, self-reliant and determined person in his personal and professional life. He was a regular and diligent correspondent with his elected officials especially regarding military veteran affairs. He was a generous and loyal husband, father and friend who was especially interested in and devoted to the welfare of children and animals. He enjoyed gardening in his retirement years and loved to travel throughout the US., Europe and the Orient.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, son, Charles Neff of Nashville, TN, daughter, Susan Neff of Vancouver, WA, grandsons Lucas Neff of Johnson City, TN, Matthew Neff and Colin Neff of Knoxville, TN, and Eric Neff and wife, Andrea, and great granddaughter, Juniper, of Lodi, CA, granddaughter E'mily Owens and husband, Dave, of Downs, IL. He was predeceased by daughter Doris Neff-Shell in 1978 and son, William F. Neff, Jr., in 1992.
A private service for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bill's wishes were that remembrances be made to the VFW National Children's Home, 3573 S. Waverly Road, Eaton Rapids, Ml, 48827.
