Jewell Dunn
Jewell Crowell Dunn died April 2, 1999, in a Littlefield, Texas hospital. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Littlefield, Texas on Monday, April 5, 1999.
Jewell was born July 6, 1909, in Oceola, Texas. During her early years the family moved to Baylor County, living on a farm in the Red Springs area.
In August 1928, Jewell married Herbert Dunn, who survives her. They moved further West, living in Amherst and Littlefield. In August 1998 they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Other survivors include a son, Jerry Dunn and wife Mary Alice of Houston; a sister Pauline Akridge of Wichita Falls; a brother, Burnett Crowell and wife Lorene of Grandview; a brother, Robert Crowell and wife Emmalene of Seymour, and a brother Raymond Crowell and wife Virginia of Houston. Also surviving are four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A daughter, Nina Jo Copeland, preceded her in death in 1981.
Marilyn Leemona Gwinn

Marilyn Leemona (Gwinn) Hotz, 53, of Seymour, Texas, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at her parents' residence in Seymour after a lengthy illness.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Branson, minister of Seymour Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Marilyn was born June 15, 1945, in Seymour, Texas, to Kloyce and Anita Gwinn. She started school in Seymour. Her family moved to Roswell, New Mexico; Wichita Falls, Texas; then to Phoenix, Arizona, where she graduated from high school in 1963. After graduation, she went to Marinello School of Beauty in Glendale, Arizona. Due to a car accident, she was unable to continue in her beautician career. She later worked for Motorola Corp. for a number of years, then pursued a career at Arizona State Optical as an order expeditor. Marilyn married Johnny Wallace Pence on February 28, 1975. He died on February 11, 1985. She then married Frank Hotz on March 1, 1987. They were married until 1996. She was a mother and a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Matthew "Matt" Paul Gwinn and his wife, Suzette, of Seymour; a daughter, Daniel Renée Hotz of Seymour; her parents, Kloyce and Anita Gwinn of Seymour; a brother, Larry Earle Gwinn of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Anita Marie "Ann" Myers of Seymour; a granddaughter, Jennifer Prince of Seymour; one uncle, Earl Gwinn of Seymour; three aunts, Mary Lee Clouse of Fort Worth, Texas, Earlene Lee of Roswell, New Mexico, and Peggy Baier of Tucson, Arizona; a cousin (that was thought of as a sister) Earlene Richardson of Arlington, Texas; and many more very dear nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jerry F. Miller
Jerry F. Miller, 76, of Megargel, Texas, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Rosary was said at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, with Clara Miller officiating. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, March 10, at St. Theresa Catholic Church of Olney with the Reverend Raymund Mullan, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mr. Miller was born August 25, 1922, in Weatherford, Texas. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church and was attending St. Theresa Catholic Church in Olney. He served in the Army during World War II. He served in the American Theater Campaign and received the purple heart and three bronze stars. He received victory medals in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign. He was a member of the KJTZ, the Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Seymour, Texas. He was a resident of Megargel most of his life.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry W. III, Richard A. and Michael F., all of Junction, Texas; two daughters, Lenora of Brownwood, Texas, and Camela Mendez of Graham, Texas; two brothers, Richard S. of Ennis, Texas, and Henry A. of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Helen Shaffer of Wichita Falls, and Agnes Gentry and Rosie Kulhanek, both of Megargel; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
Lois Hammett Fancher
Lois Hammett Fancher, 79, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died March 10, 1999, at United Regional Health Care Center.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 12, at 2 p.m. at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Minister Jimmie C. Smith of Harrison, Arkansas, officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Fancher was born September 16, 1919, in Wellington, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Crestview Church of Christ. She had been a resident of Wichita Falls for 60 years. She was married to Ervin Andrew Fancher until his death in 1985.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Crampton and Janie Martin, both of Holliday, Texas, and Betty Shelton of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Charles Hammett of Wichita Falls and J.T. Hammett of Bowie, Texas; one sister, Sarah Glaze of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Kyle Belmont Ritchie
Kyle Belmont Ritchie, 89, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at First Baptist Church with Dale Turner officiating. Burial was in Vera Cemetery in Vera, Texas, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Ritchie was born March 14, 1909. He and Nina Hardin were married November 20, 1927, in Knox County, Texas. She died October 29, 1995. He was a retired farmer and lived in the Vera community until 1988, when he moved to Idalou. He moved to Wichita Falls on June 5, 1997. He was a Primitive Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Wannell Ray of Amarillo, Texas, and Melba Parham of Vera; two sons, Guindell of Wichita Falls and G.L. of Lubbock, Texas; a sister, Susie Thurmond of Garland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Audrey D. Cooke
Audrey D. Cooke, 85, of Goree, Texas, died Thursday, March 11, 1999.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Goree Baptist Church with the Reverend Dick Griffith officiating. Burial was in Brushy Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cooke was born December 14, 1913, in Haskell County, Texas. Her husband, Jim Cooke, died April 3, 1996. She helped her husband farm and raise cattle in Haskell County. She also helped him when he served as city secretary in Goree for 25 years. She was a member of Brushy Missionary Church before becoming a member of Goree Baptist Church. She was involved in the Women's Missionary Union and taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include three daughters, Tish Carlson of Fort Worth, Texas, Teresa Quick of Rockwall, Texas, and Robbie Forsberg of Alvarado, Texas; two brothers, J.R. Griffith of Trenton, Tennessee, and Roddy Griffith of California; two sisters, Nettie Partridge of Munday and Beth Ard of Zwolle, Louisiana; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Sonnie Barker
Sonnie Barker, 56, of Lake Graham, Texas, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in her residence.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Lunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Tucker of Bowie, Texas, and Harvey McQueen, minister of Megargel Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Megargel Cemetery.
Mrs. Barker was born July 14, 1942, in Seymour. She and Clarence Barker were married December 28, 1957, in Olney. She was a sales clerk. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She had been a resident of Lake Graham since 1984, moving from Olney.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, David of League City, Texas, and Donald of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Bob McWhorter of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Lahonda Keeter of Elbert, Texas, and Sherry Kellar of Megargel, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Mildred Huddleston
Mildred Huddleston, 63, of Megargel, Texas, died Thursday, March 18, 1999, in an Olney nursing home.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 1999, in Megargel Cemetery with Harvey McQueen, minister of Megargel Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Miss Huddleston was born September 27, 1935, in Crystal City, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She had been a resident of Megargel since 1970, moving from Austin.
Survivors include three brothers, Winn of Howe, Texas, Delmer of Plano, Texas, and Harold of Ridgeland, Mississippi; six sisters, Pat Beck of Refugio, Texas, Peggy Chesser and Martha Patterson, both of Alice, Texas, Ginger Gallegos of Highlands, Texas, Carol Nethery of Dayton, Texas, and Betty Andrews of Megargel; and her step-father, D.M. Stump of Megargel.
