Allen Dale Overton
Allen Dale Overton of Paint Creek died Monday, March 20, 2000, in Seymour at the age of 73.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Haskell with Reverends Shannon Gresham and Truett Kuenstler officiating. Burial followed in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Overton was born on October 16, 1926, in Haskell, Texas. He graduated from Paint Creek High School and attended McMurry College. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the Sons of Herman Lodge #241 and the First United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Nell Sammons and Jana Sue Norville, both of Seymour; one sister, Jeannie Raughton of Paint Creek; seven grandchildren: Dustin, Jonathan, Erin and David Hajek, Jr., and Kris, Kaitlin and Klay Norville, all of Seymour.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Kay Overton; one brother, Roy Irvin Overton; and his parents, Roy Alonzo and Margaret Kuenstler Overton.
Pallbearers for the service were his grandsons: Dustin, Jonathan and David Hajek, Jr., and Kris Norville; and his friends, Mickey Melton, Ky Kuenstler, Larry Gilliam, Joe Brewer and Rusty Hollar.
Honorary Pallbearers were Runt Gary, Don Nanny, Ray Perry, Wilda Medford and Twain Mickler.
The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308, or Just Like Home, 1049 W. California St., Seymour, Texas 76380.

Eric Myers
David Eric Myers, 28, of Joshua, Texas, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in an automobile accident in Joshua.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Mountain Valley Chapel in Burleson, Texas, with Pastor Doak Taylor officiating. Burial was in Burleson Memorial Park under the direction of Mountain Valley Funeral Home of Burleson.
Mr. Myers was born February 8, 1972, in Arlington, Texas, to Lois Hargrove and Dudley Myers. He graduated from Joshua High School in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bull riding and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a Water Department Employee for the City of Burleson.
He is survived by two sons, Justin Wade Myers and William David Myers; his parents, Dudley and Lois Myers of Joshua; four sisters, Becky Akin and her husband, Gabriel, of Burleson, Misti Varnell and her husband, Chad, of Fort Worth, Caren Myers of Joshua and Kristi Maniscalco and her husband, David, of Simonton, Texas; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Myers of Seymour, Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Barbara Goodwin Brown
Barbara Goodwin Brown, age 58, of Seymour, Texas, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Seymour Church of Christ with Stanley Goodwin and Bud Branson officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery in Seymour under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born February 20, 1942, in Baylor County, Texas, to Bill and Virginia Rogers Goodwin. She graduated nursing school in 1961 and was a Licensed Vocational Nurse for many years, working in Seymour, Olney and Archer City. She married Jerry Ladd Brown on May 1, 1964, in Henrietta, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and crafts and was always helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Ladd Brown of Seymour; a daughter and her husband, Angela and Doug Barker of Seymour; a granddaughter, Marley Barker of Seymour; four sisters, Zuleka Jenkins and Glenna Stennett of Olney, Texas, Billie Kreeger of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Kathy Moore of Megargel, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth "Bud" Goodwin of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Gene Goodwin of Seymour; and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Greg Moore, Chuck Stennett, Danny Kreeger, Roger Ricketts, Rick Ickert, Jim Anz, Gene Hauck and Jack Goodwin.
The family requests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, Box 347, Seymour, Texas 76380.

Ava Lu Jones
Ava Lu Jones, 90, of Graham, Texas, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2000, at a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 10, at the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Buddy Moore, pastor of Salem Crestview United Methodist Church in Graham, officiating. Burial followed at Pioneer Cemetery in Graham under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born June 14, 1909, in Sipe Springs in Comanche County, Texas, to the late Don Carlos and Keron (Johnson) Moorman. She married Clarence R. "Chili" Jones May 8, 1928, in Comanche, Texas. He preceded her in death October 12, 1990. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Crestview United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Green and her husband, B.J., of Lubbock, Texas; a sister, Mary Ehrette of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Bilita Merritt of Fort Worth, Texas, Brenda Trainham of Lubbock, Texas, and Bobby Green of Graham; and three great-grandchildren.

Bobbie Ruth Hale
Bobbie Ruth Hale, 72, of Petrolia, Texas, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Erle and Emma White Hospice Center.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Westover, Texas, Cemetery with Reverend Max Burkhead, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Olney, officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, Texas.
Ms. Hale was born August 15, 1927, in Westover. She was a Medical Transcriptionist for Bethania Hospital for 12 years, retiring in 1989. She had lived in Petrolia all of her life and was a member of Megargel Methodist Church.
Survivors include four nieces, Joni Kay of Carrollton, Texas, Betty Schoeling of Olney, Texas, Linda Hamilton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jeanie Haney of Petrolia; four nephews, Terry Hale of Huntsville, Texas, Jon Hale of Midland, Texas, Dan Hale of Bonham, Texas, and James Berger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

George Pribyla
George Pribyla, 79, of Bomarton, Texas, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Seymour Hospital in Seymour, Texas.
Christian burial was on Saturday, April 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Reverend Richard Eldredge officiating. Burial was in Bomarton Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Pribyla was born April 24, 1920, in Bomarton. He was a lifetime resident of Bomarton where he farmed and ranched. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Kenneth Pribyla and David Pribyla; five nieces, Carol Newman, Mary Sample, Virginia Pribyla, Rita Lashlee and Nancy Horst; eighteen great nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Tillie Pribyla.

Eula Mae Clark Engle
Eula Mae Clark Engle, age 85, departed this life on Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Camarillo, California. Funeral services and interment were in Camarillo.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Grover Clark and grew up in Baylor County. She had lived in California for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Perry of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Margie Wakley of Camarillo; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Eva Sessums of Lubbock, Texas; and three brothers, G.D. Clark of Stanton, California, Calvin Clark of Monahans, Texas, and Norman Clark of Red Springs, Texas.

Opal Hayley
Opal Tripp Hayley, 86, of La Marque passed away Thursday, May 10, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Mrs. Hayley was born September 9, 1913, in Buffalo Gap, the daughter of Emmett and Janette Watkins Tripp. She was a resident of La Marque for 53 years and a member of First Baptist Church of La Marque. Mrs. Hayley was a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class at her church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Hayley, and sister, Ruby Lee Tripp. Mrs. Hayley is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jane Hayley of Texas City; her grandchildren, Jerry and Cindy Hayley of Woodlands, Texas, Jason and Jennifer Hayley of Texas City; four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Abby, Allyson and Zack Hayley; one brother and sister-in-law, E.W. and Wynette Trip of Texas City; and two sisters-in-law Hazel Hayley of Wichita Falls and Amy Hayley of Seymour.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the First Baptist Church of La Marque with Dr. Kyle Cox and Reverend Darwood Galloway officiating. Burial followed at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers were Ernie Deats, Sonny Byrkett, Mike Tripp, Gary Meyer, Tommy Briggs, Donnie Lera, R.T. Fuller and Jerry Harkreader.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of La Marque or the charity of your choice.
