Virginia Anne Green
Virginia Anne Green, 85, of Azle, Texas, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in Azle, Texas.
Services were held Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Laird of Weatherford, Texas, officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, Texas, under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Green was born May 18, 1914, in Randham, Texas. She and Thomas Green were married June 7, 1937, in Seymour, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. She resided in Seymour before moving to Forth Worth in 1948.
She is survived by: one son Thomas G. Green and wife Ida; two grandchildren, Tammy Lynette Green Sanderford and husband, Eric and Kimberly Kay Green Newton and husband, David; two great-grandchildren, Traci Leigh Green and Britney Nicole Newton; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Vickers and Mattie Vickers.

D. Dwight Wall
D. Dwight Wall, age 70, passed away Friday, March 2, 2001, at the Seymour Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, with Reverend Larry Crumpton officiating, assisted by Dr. Edward Hart, A.B. Martin and Gene Robinson. Interment was in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Dee was born May 30, 1930, in the Ogden community in Baylor County. He married Doris Marie Turner on January 25, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas. After serving time in the United States Army, Dee returned to Baylor County in 1958, where he became a partner in Wall and Howell Electric. In 1963, he became sole owner of Dee Wall Appliance and Electric, and continued that business for 21 years. He later joined the First National Bank in Seymour and worked for nine years as a vice-president in the loan department, and for three years as compliance officer for Baylor Bancshares. He retired in 1998.
Dee was very active in the business life of Seymour, holding office or membership in the Chamber of Commerce, School Board, Lions Club, Seymour Golf and Country Club, Library Board, City Council where he served as mayor pro-tem, Industrial Board, Outreach Center, Child Welfare Board, and the North Texas Rehabilitation Center. Dee was named Seymour’s Outstanding Citizen in 1986. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and taught a Sunday School class there. He was a member of the Seymour Masonic Lodge #604 AF & AM, serving as Worshipful Master in 1969, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Seymour; by one son, James D. Wall of Weatherford, Texas; by two sisters, Vera Studer and Totsie Cade, both of Seymour; and by two grandsons, Dale Wall of Denton, Texas, and Warren Wall of Weatherford, Texas.
Dee was preceded in death by his parents, Tim K. and Lola James Wall; by three sisters, Ruby Studer, Lydia Johnson and Johnnie Howell; and by one brother, James Tim Wall.
Pallbearers were Hardy Bell, Mark Davis, Jesse Moore, Mike Ligon, Buddy Jackson and Joe Mendoza. Honorary Pallbearers were John Underwood, Ralph Culver, Butch McWhorter, Manford Elliott, James Styles, Vern Teague, Claude Cowan, Bill Thornhill, Carl Lohman, Pinky Arledge, Forrest Martin, Doug Duncan, Lee Wayne McGuire, Gene Adams, Gene Porter Robinson, Rea Carter, Hershell Hatter, Don McDermett, Bob Clay, Ed Hart and A.B. Martin.
Dee’s death followed a long illness, and the family request that memorials be made either to the Hospice of Wichita Falls, or the First United Methodist Church in Seymour.

Mikel Nick Jurecek
Mikel Nick Jurecek, age 57, of Seymour, Texas, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at his residence in Seymour.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, at First Baptist Church, Seymour, with the Reverend Glenn Shock officiating. Interment was at the Masonic Cemetery, Seymour. Services were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Jurecek was born December 30, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas. Mikel graduated from Eldorado High School in 1962, then attended Baylor Univeristy where he graduated in 1966. He was a member of the Baylor Bears football team, playing guard, and played in the Bluebonnet Bowl in 1964.
Mikel married Connie Sanders on August 26, 1967 in Wichita Falls. He became a partner in Bunkley & Jones Isurance Agency in 1973 and became owner in 1982.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seymour, a volunteer for the Seymour Fire Department, and an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Seymour; a daughter, Nicole Bufkin and her husband Marty of Seymour; a son Blake and his wife Stacey of Lakeside City, Texas; his father, Nick Jurecek of Eldorado, Texas; a sister, Nancy Schwertner of Farwell, Texas; a brother, Dennis Jurecek of Dinero, Texas; and a granddaughter, Malorie Bufkin of Seymour.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kate Jurecek in 1997.
Memorials may be made to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, the Booster Club or a charity of your choice.

Mary Christine Howe
Mary Christine Howe, 83, of North Richland Hills, Texas, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, in North Richland Hills.
Services were held Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church with Reverend Larry Crumpton Officating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, Texas. Services were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howe was born May 24, 1917, in Baylor County, Texas. She and Ralph Howe were married in 1963 in Seymour, Texas. Her husband preceded her in death on April 25, 1988. She was a homemaker and lived in Seymour until March 2000 when she moved to North Richland Hills. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janice Ross of Irving, Texas; one step-daughter, Giva Loys Shafer; two sons, Joe Glen Bohanon of North Richland Hills, Texas and Bobby Bohanon of Newark, Texas; two sisters, Betty Jo Crawford of Seymour, Texas and Dorris London of Throckmorton, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Jon Thomas Hill
Jon Thomas Hill, age 61, of Luther, Oklahoma, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at home. Services were under the direction of Brown Funeral Home of Luther, Oklahoma.
Jon was born April 3, 1939. He was retired from the city of Edmond.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Cora Stone of Yukon, Linde Reeder of Luther, Mandy Nance of Luther; one brother, Burt Hill of California.
In lue of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice.

Leon J. Mocek
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2001, at Holy Cross Catholic Church for Leon J. Mocek, former General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of SLEMCO, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in his home after a battle with cancer. He was 67.
Father Floyd Calais, retired, was Celebrant of the Mass. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Mocek worked at SLEMCO, Louisiana’s largest rural electric cooperative, for 37 years. During his eleven-year tenure as CEO, which ended with his retirement in January of 1996, he was credited for effectivily guiding the large cooperative through the local economic slump of the 1980’s. Mr. Mocek and his superb management team, board of directors, and employees also pursued a number of acclaimed educational initiatives with the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), which is now part of the University of Louisiana system. While he was at the helm of the cooperative, SLEMCO established the Enterprise Center, a $1 million dollar joint venture with USL; created the SLEMCO Scholarship Fund, which provided 20 yearly scholarships for students to attend the University; and initiated the USL SLEMCO Endowed Professorship Fund.
By the time he retired in January of 1996, SLEMCO had improved its long held stature as one of the most distinguished electric distribution cooperatives in the nation.
A superb manager and leader, Mr. Mocek served on various regional boards and was an active citizen of the community. He was a member of the board of directors of the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, Cajun Electric Power Cooperative of Baton Rouge, the Enterprise Center of Louisiana, Central Area Data Processing of St. Louis, Mo., and Mocek Enterprises, a family corporation.
He also served on the board of directors of the Lafayette United Way Campaign, was past president of the Acadiana Safety Council, and was invloved in numerous other councils, organizations, and church activities.
After receiving his degree in Business Administration from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, he worked for the Texas Electric Service Company, until his employment was interrupted by military service. During a two-year stint in the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Germany and worked with heavy artillery. After finishing his service at the rank of Captain, he resumed his career in the utility industry by joining SLEMCO in 1958. He was born on January 12, 1934, in Seymour, Texas, the son of George and Julia Mocek. Survivors include his wife of forty years, the former Elizabeth Louise Hebert of Jeanerette; his son Gregory George Mocek and daughter-in-law Avery Swing Miller of Washington, DC; his daughter Karen Louise Mocek Juruez, son-in-law Dr. Daniel Juruez, and grandchild Ella Julia Juruez of Lafayette; his son Dr. Christopher Kent Mocek, daughter-in-law May Meleton Mocek, and grandchildren Joshua Christopher Mocek and Jonathan Christopher Mocek of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter Claire Alane Mocek Haydel, son-in-law Dr. Michael Haydel, and grandchildren Andrew Michael Haydel and Madeline Claire Haydel of Houma, Louisiana; son Steven Louis Mocek, and daughter-in-law Callie Sere' Mocek of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother Leonard Mocek.
Pallbearers were his brothers, Victor, George, and Richard Mocek, his brother-in-law Floyd Trahan, and his nephews, Jackson Davis, Trey Trahan, and Jeff Davis. Honorary pallbearers include Alex Parma, Dr. Frank Coufal, Paul Manna, Louis W. Hebert III, Dr. Gary Harter, Dennis Boerner, Carr Wilkerson, Al Laviolette, Dr. Robert Fell, Glen McZeal, and all the fine current and former employees of SLEMCO.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Mocek’s name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, Lafayette, LA.

Robert “Bob” Willingham
On Friday, March 30, 2001, Robert Caldwell Willingham left his home near Lipan, Texas. He had faced a 27-month battle against Stage IV cancer. During this period he was able to spend valuable time with family and friends. He passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 31st.
Bob was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Abilene to Alton Jackson and Nell Blanche. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1950. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served through the duration of the Korean War. While in the service of our nation he married Sivlene Allen from Columbus, Ga. on Oct. 10, 1953.
After receiving his wings in the Air Force, he was a pilot in the Air Rescue Services, based on Kwajalein Atoll until 1956. Upon completion of his military service, he earned a BBA degree from UT-Austin. Bob developed a career in residential home building that began in Abilene and eventually moved to Arlington. He retired in 1980 to a ranch in Parker County. Although in frail health, Bob was able to enjoy one last fight as pilot, taking a glider through numerous aerobatic maneuvers last year, drawing upon his experience in the Air Force.
His father, Alton, and his mother, Nell, preceded Bob in death.
He is survived by his wife, Sivlene and their three children, youngest son, Alton James Willingham is married to Linda with two children, Cole and Katrina, his daughter, Marian Nell, is married to Barry Pfennig with their children, Jackie Allen, Chris and Travis. Robert Allen Willingham is married to Jeanie with a daughter, Hailee Elayne; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Herman Schaffer of Abilene and their children, Jeffrey, Susan and Andrew.
Lifelong friend, Ronnie Parker, conducted graveside services at “The Ranch” in Palo Pinto County with his wife June beside him. Other friends and relatives know who they are and we appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Thanks for a lot of good years.
