Harry Don Ferrier
Harry Don Ferrier, 57, died Friday, November 20, 1998, in Bridgeport, Texas.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 23, 1998 at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Branson, minister of Seymour Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Ferrier was born July 22, 1941, in Seymour, Texas. He moved to Bridgeport in 1996, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Little of Houston; and a brother, Robert Earl Ferrier of Bridgeport.
Harriet Jeanette Dickson
Harriet Jeanette Dickson, 92, died Thursday, November 19, 1998, in a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, at First Presbyterian Church in Seymour with A.B. Martin and Dr. Ed Hart officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dickson was born April 13, 1906, in Bowie, Texas. She and James Dickson were married July 29, 1942. He died July 30, 1994. She attended school in Bowie and Olney, Texas, went to Decatur, Texas, Baptist College, and graduated from North Texas with a degree in elementary education. She taught school for three years in Olney, taught third grade in Seymour for 40 years and taught tap dancing to children for many years while still in Seymour. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1994 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Seymour.
Survivors include a niece, JoAnn Tennison of Wichita Falls; and a nephew, Temple Driver of Wichita Falls.
Elizabeth Frerich
Elizabeth Welchel Frerich, 73, died Saturday, November 14, 1998, in Garland, Texas.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church of Seymour with the Rev. Glen Davis officiating. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Crestview Memorial Park, Rose Garden Section under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frerich was born June 19, 1925, in Canton, GA. She and M.H. Lewis were married June 24, 1944, in Wichita Falls. He died in 1975. She was a Baptist, lived in Burkburnett and Wichita Falls, worked for the civil service and moved to Seymour in April 1993.
Survivors include four daughters, Jerry Ann Austin of Garland, Texas, Joyce Mayo of Black Creek, Canada, and Sharon Baldwin and Judi Williams, both of Seymour; five sons, Royce Lewis of Fort Worth, George Lewis, Harold Lewis and Larry Lewis, all of Garland, and Tracey Frerich of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Bobbie Hughes of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Billie Clark of Wichita Falls and Ruth Logan of Logansville, GA., a brother, Harold Welchel of San Diego, California; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
John W. Holmes
John W. Holmes of Alma, Arkansas died Monday, November 16, 1998 in a Van Buren nursing home. He was a retired farmer. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alma and a member of Masonic Lodge in Seymour, Texas and Shriner.
Graveside Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18 at Hight Cemetery, Mulberry, Arkansas under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jean Holmes of Van Buren, Arkansas; two daughters: Jill Ryan of San Angelo, Texas, Robin Fisher of Mulberry, Arkansas; three sisters: Bettye Hurd of Brownfield, Texas, Allie Mae McWhorter of Throckmorton, Texas, and Peggy Morris of Seymour, Texas; five grandchildren: Kevin Ryan, Sean Ryan, Clint Fisher, Jessica Fisher, Ty Fisher; Great-grandchild: Devin Ryan.
Imogene Spring
Mrs. Imogene Spring of Cooper, passed away Monday morning, November 16th, at the St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Care Center in Paris.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18th, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Cooper with Bobby Tollison of Commerce and Terry Bryan officiating under the direction of the Delta Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spring was born in Commerce, Texas, April 24, 1928. She was the daughter of J.D. Dunn and Ava (Ferguson) Dunn. She married J.M. Spring on July 9, 1948. She was a retired school teacher, teaching 28 years. She lived in Honey Grove, Commerce, Mount Pleasant, Seymour and Crandall before moving to Cooper in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Commerce, the Bayview Club, Alpha Ki, and Eta Epsilson.
Survivors include: her husband, J.M. Spring of Cooper; three daughters, Peggy Spring of Wichita Falls; Judy Spring of Jacksboro; Sherry Harmon of North Richland Hills; four grandchildren, James and Sarah Kasper and Daniel and Stephanie Harmon.
Bryce Collier Meers
Bryce C. Meers, 77, died Tuesday, November 3, 1998, in a Wichita Falls Hospital following a lengthy illness. Graveside services were held Friday, November 6, 1998, at Wilbarger Memorial Park, Vernon, Texas, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Irl Holt officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mr. Meers was born on December 21, 1920, in Goree, Texas, son of the late Floyd and Lillie Bartlett Meers. He married Viola Navaratil on October 8, 1949, in Seymour, Texas.
Mr. Meers moved to Vernon in 1959, from Seymour. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He owned and operated numerous laundromats for over 35 years.
Survivors include: His wife Viola Meers of Vernon; one son, Richard Meers and wife, Karen, of Vernon; two sisters, Cloe Saunders, Fort Worth and Irene Saunders, Slayton, TX; three grandchildren, Stephen, Andy, and Kelly Meers, Vernon.
William Hilton Lane
William Hilton Lane, 84, of Megargel, Texas, died Monday, November 9, 1998, in the Seymour Hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, at First Baptist Church in Megargel with the Reverend Robert Wrenn, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Lane was born April 20, 1914, in Megargel. He and Ora Edna Peek were married January 8, 1938, in Paducah, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Megargel. He farmed for many years and worked for Megargel Drilling Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon of Wichita Falls; four sisters, Juanita and Vileta, both of Megargel, Dorris Collins of Olney, Texas, and Era White of Sulphur, Oklahoma; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters.
